  1. Any of you all in southeast Texas might want to check out this show Saturday the 11th. It's the Second annual Houston Automobile Modelers Show in Pearland. I saw it advertised in the back of Scale Auto. The address if you want to google a map is 2320 Hatfield Road Pearland ,Texas 77581. I'm hoping the vendors will have some Tamiya paint and maybe some models I have been looking for but have had no luck finding at the model shops.
  2. Wow, to have the great Jairus Watson comment on my model is truly an honor. I too used many reference pictures to try an get the 40 to look like a 39 standard. I know the grille is way off and my headlight pods are too big but the car does look more like a 39 now than a 40. My modeling skills just wont allow me to build the model I would like to have. I'm trying to replicate the 39 Ford that Lloyd Seay campaigned back in 1941 way before Nascar was even a twinkle in Bill France's eyes. Speaking of Bill France, the founder of Nascar, he said that Lloyd Seay was the greatest driver he had ever seen. That is why I wanted to do this project. Luckily they ran without the sides of the hood in place so I don't have to worry about modeling them. Below is a picture of the car I'm trying to get close to replicating. Thanks again for your comments I really appreciate them and your tips as well.
  3. I modified and fitted the hood. I shot the first of many primer coats with Duplicolor gray primer.
  4. Making a 39 ford standard coupe from a 40 ford kit.
  5. Very nice save on the resin body. No one makes a styrene kit of this car?

  11. The link below shows the process and Ref pics used to build the model. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v212/tex...rton%20Pontiac/
  12. This is suppose to depict the car Ward won his first Cup race in. Monogram Dirt Devil kit. 1995/1996 Slixx MBNA decal sheets. duplicolor rattle can finish.
  13. Super nice job Billy!!
  14. Its been very slow going because I had to scratchbuild the 1/4 glasses and I also had an accident with some super glue that ended up on the roof and trunk. So who knows when this one will be finished?
  15. Absolutely Stunning!! The paint is Model Masters but you are a Master of Modeling!! Fantastic work!!
  16. I have that kit but it's going to be built as a Grand National Stock Car. I just can't decide whether to make it a hardtop or convertible.
  17. I remember watching that race on Wide World of Sports, I think, and the victory wasn't as lopsided as it seemed. Jarrett had the only factory ford left in the race. All the others had wrecked or blown up. If Darel Dieringer in a 64 Bud Moore Mercury hadn't lost his differential with 19 laps to go he would have probably won the race. He had led the most laps. But a win is a win.
  18. Just curious . Why would you have a dodge decal on a Chevy?
  19. Excellent!!
  20. That's an excellent job of hand lettering.
  21. Excellent job as always!! I can't believe no one has replied to this post in 5 days.
  22. Dave, You are simply the best there is!! Outstanding model !!
  23. From what I can see, it looks like you have done an outstanding job!!
  24. Well I'm finally through with the body except for some detail work. I can finally start working on the chassis and interior.
