  1. Wow, Pierre. You had 3 Camaros. Thats pretty cool. That 84 I had was so logged down with pollution controls that it was not really what you would consider a performance car. I guess that's why Chevy came out with the IROC-Z version, I guess. I'm not sure when it was introduced. My 84 was a gray metallic with gold stripes along the bottom of the sides that z-28's had back then to distinguish them from the regular Camaros. I wish I had a picture of it, but it's probably buried in a photo album in a wooden trunk somewhere in the attic. And I'm not digging for it.
  2. Donato, Do you have some history on the Cheetah. Was it actually a cut down version of the Corvette? I always thought they were way cool looking.
  3. Had to start over on the taillight panel. Just need to make the rear spoiler a little bigger and I can finish the decals and continue with the build.
  4. Donato, I hope you don't stop on the Cheetah if it's not allowed. I would have never thought you could make one from a Corvette but there it is. Do you have any photos of the Cheetah you are doing from the race? Misha, the MGB is coming along very nicely. I especially like the seat work you have done.
  5. So true, Pierre. We shall see in about 6 months or so if it's like one of my typical builds. I am not very fast, and I make a lot of mistakes that I have to do over. Like just now on the rear taillight panel. Trial and error as always. mostly error. I owned one of these baby's back in 1984 so when I saw the kit, I knew I had to do something with it. It was a 305 Z-28 but it was not very fast. But it had a nice sounding exhaust system. It looked a lot racier than it was. I doubt if it would get over 90 miles an hour.
  6. Could not finish the decals till I got the rear of the car changed to what it needs to be. Have to do some adjusting to the close out panel.
  7. Misha, what a great departure from the behemoth sports cars that got all the attention. This is one of the cars kids my age back then wanted to get for high school but mostly we ended up with 55 Chevy's. Looking forward to watching this one to completion.

  9. Excellent job, Robert. Really like the detailing you added, and the paint looks beautiful. So glad to see more vintage 60's Nascar racers being done. I believe that was my favorite time for Nascar because I was almost being a teenager and then into my teenage years. Thats when you really start to get interested in what you like in life.
  10. Wow, Pierre. This build just gets more and more astonishing as to how awesome the final result is going to be. I have to commend the kit creator for making such a well-engineered kit as far as the quality of the castings that he accomplished. Of course, I'm sure your skills are making the fit come together better than most of us modelers could do.

  14. Yes, I always wondered why Lorenzen took that break for a couple of years and then returned back. A lot of drivers quit after the carnage of 1964 like Jarrett in 1966 as well as Junior Johnson too. I think the Roberts crash at the 600 which they were both involved with had a lasting effect on them both.

  17. Thanks, Rob. The paint was a real challenge this time because with pearlized paint the more coats you use the darker the shade becomes. It's hard to get an equal amount of paint everywhere on the model. Holman and Moody decided to run all 4 of their cars with pearlized paint for this race so I knew if I was going to build Fred's Ford from this race it had to be pearlized paint. Nelson Stacy's car was pearlized yellow and Tiny's number 0 Ford was pearlized red. I bet that pearlized red was very eye catching. I have one poor resolution black and white picture of Tiny's car.

  20. Wow, Pierre. It's coming together perfectly. So, I guess you're using epoxy to hold this creation together. Do you mix it in small batches or how exactly does it work. What do you mix it in?
  21. John, it was cool in the house where I shot the pics but outside it was 105, but the model did not know it. It's been an unusually hot summer this year, but hopefully this week looks like we will get some mid ninety's highs for a change. Thanks for your interest in the build.
  22. I'll definitely be watching this one, Pierre. The one resin I did came out terribly. There are so many builds that the only way to do them is to use a resin kit. The 58 Ford comes to mind. I always wanted to do Curtis Turner's but that's a lot to invest in a body if It's going to come out like the last one, I did. I'm sure this build is going to be Awesome.
  23. It really does help to have a movie of the race car you want to do. That's what I was lucky enough to have on this one. No doubt what the car looked like for this race.
