  1. Excellent build, Bryon. Paint, decals , cleanliness of build, all top notch.
  2. Yes, that would have been very cool. Oh well mine aren't perfect by any means, but I felt I had to do them since i'm actually trying to do a grand sport. I was actually thinking about doing a decal but knew that would have looked bogus.
  3. Mike, I finally looked at the kit chassis, and boy am i going to have to do a lot of cutting. I'm not going crazy though. Probably just remove the exhaust and mufflers and remove the outer frame rails and replace them with tubes. Probably wont take any under car shots when I'm through. The stock Corvette chassis and the Grand Sport chassis are very different, to say the least.
  4. Thanks for the link. There's a lot to read there. I saved it as a favorite.
  5. I haven't even looked at the chassis yet. Oh well, if I have to slice and dice I will get my sprue cutters and #11 blade and go to town on it.
  6. Looking great. Keep up the awesome work.
  7. Thanks , Michael. I was surprised you were able to find me way down here in this thread.
  8. Mike, I actually googled pro mod 63 corvette, and saw plenty of examples of them with huge slicks completely inside the stock rear fenders. The axel must just be a differential and a 2 foot axel on each side of it. Maybe even shorter then that. They all really looked awesome.
  9. Got the Front fender extensions finished and added some material to the back glass rubber strip and center body feature line that was removed when an emblem was removed. Have to be sanded down and narrowed to recreate those areas.
  10. Got some work done on the fuel filler door and the door handles. The door handles were not stock corvette handles and the door skin had to be reworked to install them on the real car ,as well as the model. I will install the handles after the model is painted.
  11. You could get the Accurate miniatures kit which already has the rear wheel openings done for you. That would be cool. A grand sport built for the strip.
  12. Yeah, Mike. I think you will have to do something like they did with the grand sport. Looking forward to seeing your build.
  13. You're welcome , Mike. Hope it all made sense.
  14. Thank you , Dennis. I appreciate the feedback.
  15. Mike ,I was lucky enough to find an almost perfect side profile picture of the real car. I made a profile picture of the real car from that photograph in 1/25 scale and taped that picture over the side of the body, then cut open the vents on the picture and then traced through the slits in the picture with pencil onto the body. I then drilled a small hole at the top and bottom of each traced vent and then use a #11 blade to slowly cut open the vents and then finished them off with a needle file. this allowed me to get the proper size and location for the vents. I used the same process to trace the wheel openings on the body and also to modify the front of the cars grille opening from a front end shot of the real car. I use this same process to make the decals to get them as authentic as possible. instead of just picking a font that is close on my photodeluxe vector graphics program that I use to create the decals.
  16. Got some more work done on the hood. Added some more styrene to the fender extensions to finish them out.
  17. Thanks, Ralph and Andre. I really appreciate the kind words.
  18. Thanks, Misha. If you have a wip going on your build I would surely like to see it . If you could reply with a link that would be great.
  19. Thanks, Mike. Hopefully it will be not be laughable. And maybe semi cool looking.
  20. Wow, Your fleet of Grand Sports are spectacular. Every one is excelently built and accurate to the t. I need to p.m. you on a question I have that I haven't been able to find so far.
  21. Thanks , Josh. I know its not going to be as accurate as the kit versions of the car because the real car was a 7/8 version of the real corvette body which I think the kit makers followed, but since I'm making mine from a stock scale Corvette its not going to be quite right . But close enough that people will get the idea that its suppose to be a grand sport.
  22. Finished the headlight covers. Still need to detail sand them and paint. They will be a different color then the body so I will not install them till the body and the covers are painted. I just have them sitting loose in these pictures. I also added the fender extensions. They still need to be trimmed out and lips added to them and the edges rounded. The rear ones appear to be too big because they are right now.
  23. Thanks, Ray. I'm not familiar with that kit . Do you have a link?
  24. Made some scoops from evergreen styrene tubing for the sides of the deck lid area. I guess they cool the rear brakes. Will need to add a little putty to the rear of the scoops. Not quite flush
