  1. I printed the decals today so i'm starting on the body first so i can get it painted. Shouldn' t be that much to do . Its basically pure stock so I wont have to remove any moldings or emblems but I might have to do some b.m.f.
  2. C'mon and turn it on, wind it up, blow it out, GTO
  3. Doing a car I used to watch race at a local drag strip 56 years ago. Here is the kit.
  4. I forgot to post the wip link. No bigee but I reveal something about the build thats kinda weird. Maybe yall can figure it out before you find out. http://www.shorttrackmodels.com/index.php?topic=1755.0
  5. Looks superb, Tony. Very clean build.
  6. Thanks Randy, but I would never attempt a wrecked version of a model. Its way above my pay grade. I mean how do you apply a decal on a wrecked fender or door and make it look right? I definitely don't have a clue.
  7. Thanks John. All those tiny contengencies are tuff to make good and apply on this era of nascar. But its been bugging me for a long time to do this build just for the historical significance of it.
  8. Pat, so use to seeing your work over at Scale Auto. Glad you're over here now to share your excellent builds. Too bad they shut it down , but we go on.
  9. Yes, I have always wanted to do this car because most of the Gant builds I see are from earlier in his career in Monte Carlos. The kit i found was for Bobby Hamilton. I'm not sure they actually made a kit dedicated to Harry himself in the Olds.
  10. Looks perfect as usual. Awesomely Awesome.
  11. Here are pictures of the real car at Martinsville.
  12. In 1991, September had 5 races in the cup series. Harry Gant won the first 4 of them and came in second at the fifth race. That is why sometimes you hear him being called Mr. September. I tryed to do the livery for the Martinsville car because that was the last of his wins in the streak. He only missed winning the 5th race at North Wilkesboro by 10 laps. His tires gave out with ten to go and Earnhardt passed him for the win. He still was able to hold on to second. The livery changed a little at each race. they kept moving the small number 33 at the front of the car for each race. The Martinsville car had it on the hood where you see it on this model. It took 98.5 hours to complete with 43 of those hours going to creating and printing the decals. I actually watched most of these races back in 1991 especially toward the end of the streak just to see how many he could rack up. You say how can you have 5 races in one month? Well i looked it up and its true . All 5 were in the month of September. Unless Racing Reference got it wrong.
  13. So glad your getting the stance right. if you build this kit ,box stock, the model ends up being way up in the air.
  14. ok.
  15. Am I missing something or did the Truxmore car morph into a Holman and Moody David Pearson ride.? Don't get me wrong, they both look Awesome.
  16. Excellent job, Neil. I always thought that car was white. Maybe I'm remembering a different car that somebody else drove. I think it might have been Brad.
  17. Excellent job. I'm working on one of those kits now, but its the Olds kit, and I agree, everything fits like a glove. Looks like you painted the tire letters, if so, you did a great job. That is one pain staking job for sure. Mine always turned out real sloppy with paint over the edges of the letters.
  18. I got some of both and neither one stuck very well. I dont know if maybe it has a shelf life and micro mark let it get past its shelf life.
  19. Hope you get some good stuff. I ordered some from micro mark and had nothing but problems with it. Thats when i sought out the actual guy who makes it and ordered it from him. That product worked good but now i cant remember who i ordered it from when I need some more.
  20. BMF will get hard to use with age especially if its not kept in an air proof environment. should store it in a zip lock bag. Also I had to actually get some from the actual guy that makes the stuff before I got some good fresh product.
  21. Wow, John. Thank you very much. I appreciate the kind words.
  22. Thats sounds like thats probably what happened. There is so little info about these iroc daytona chargers . At least that I have been able to find. It really made into a nice little race car.
  23. Interesting, I wonder if they ran the 360 v8 jeep motor that chrysler had aquired when they took over jeep. The engine that came with those cars was a 2.2 liter 4 banger. But i think there was a v6 option for it. I went to wikipedia just to get some background on the real charger daytona car in 1991.
  24. Excellent work as usual. What engine did they use in those babies? Did Earnhardt compete in one of those?
  25. Here is that link again. the wip is 7 pages so it might take a while for all the pictures to build but the fender part should be close to the front. http://www.shorttrackmodels.com/index.php?topic=1701.0
