  1. From what we see, your shop does very nice work. Do you specialize in classics, or was this an exception?
  2. Here's another one going home this week. I've posted pictures of this going together and here she is almost finished.
  3. This is getting final details for delivery next weekend. This family was broad-sided by a stop sign runner. We brought it back to life. The guys in our metal shop can rebuild or fabricate just about anything. The car owner bought a rust-free shell from the mid-west as a donor car. The metal guys said the donor car was better than the wreck they repaired. On final assembly I had to swap the un-broken vent window out of the damaged door as it had sentimental value. The father used to race it at the long-gone Island Dragway and he had a class winner sticker. Before: After:
  4. This got flat bedded in yesterday. The owner cranked it over and it locked-up. Pulled the plugs & coolant drained out of #5…… Engine is coming out. It's a stroker 383 w/ BDS 2X4 bbl., Jericho 5 spd., 4-link rear. Aside from the color (in my opinion…) the car is drop-dead gorgeous.
  5. Thought so…. I just won a bet.
  6. I just finally got the cover on this afternoon. I still have to wire the cooling fan, relay, & sensor. I made a shroud (one of the benefits of working where I do….) and installed the fan. Now to install a few hoses and get it going! Being resourceful on the road is a gift. My sister used a band-aid and a pebble to give her a super high idle on her VW bug to get home when the throttle cable snapped! I still love telling that story 30 yrs. later…. BTW: Neat Tempest. Never seen those Mini Lite style wheels though.
  7. That is soooo cool! Awesome job!! I like the way it sits and it's a real nice clean build.
  8. I prefer a multi-grain Triscit
  9. Very nice job!!!!!!
  10. Leather & Lace is our favorite song of their's as my Wife's a huge FM/Stevie Nicks fan. We had the pleasure of seeing Don Henley open for Stevies nick's doing a solo concert w/o FM at Jones Beach Amphitheater on Long Island. When the two of them walked out together it was one of the most enjoyable moments I ever had at a concert and the place….went…..NUTS. Me & my wife slow-danced in the isle at Jones Beach theater as they performed a rare live version of Leather & Lace. It was a fabulous musical memory. And yes, Stevie is still a looker…..
  11. Here's an example of WHY I'll never buy this kit. If it was a NICE LX `Stang, I might have purchased it as they are as common as roaches and would make for a nice slump-buster quick build. But being a Mopar guy there's little interest is buying an incorrect $25+ kit. I'll buy the S&M Cuda for sure, buy no way on the Mustang after hearing the consensus. Too bad. Maybe Mobius will do a nice one?
  12. I agree 110%. If it takes 3 years to finish this, it should count as college credits or at least give your followers some certification. This is schooling here, and it takes time for knowledge to be explained and demonstrated. Just pop in from time to time and let us know your OK and at least thinking about finishing it.
  13. Judging from every Corvette I've worked on, once you have a hole it only gets bigger, looser, and weaker. I think they should pack up & high tail it outta there…...
  14. Our painter will send cars back to the body shop for imperfections, pin holes, and anything else that will make EVERYONE look bad. Heck, he sent a car back to the metalshop to have a body panel re-welded! But we all strive for a nice job. Being in the final assembly end of it all, I get everyones final product and it's up to me and my fellow assembler not to mess anything up. And yes, the paint is the attraction. It's gotta be nice & sweet….. My job is to keep our thumbprints out of the frosting.
  15. So true. Certain angles it changes from red to black to gold, and all combinations in-between. It's getting a small block/ 4 spd. with suspension upgrades. A former co-worker from my old Infiniti dealer is the Mustang owner's neighbor. I've been sending him updates as he remembers the car un-restored. It's certainly coming along nice.
  16. OMG…. So sorry to hear this Tom. Amy & myself send our condolences to Todd's family. I hate reading these type of posts…..
  17. Knowing some one on the other side of the planet is looking at your car is a great feeling. Congratulations. Beautiful Buick, love the ghost flames on the hood & wheel choice. I had gotten a full page in the Jan. 2010 issue of Mopar Enthusiast. I know what it feels like. Matter of fact, my Wife had the cover & feature framed for X-mas that year as the magazine was out in Oct. BTW: Where the cover overlaps the page was just an advertisement in the original.
  18. I could have mis-read the registration sticker in the windshield, which states the vehicle year in NYS, but what ever year it is, it's way cool. And I've never seen it before as I was only about 3 miles from my house on a major road. Drive that way multiple times a week. First time I saw it, although it DOES look freshly done. The aluminum diamond plate was pristine…..
  19. Awe, OK… here's some V-8 Macho stuff. `65 Mustang coupe being resto-moded. Paint is beyond description, it must be seen in direct sunlight to really appreciate it. It's a candy brandywine. Add in the Torque Thrusts after they're polished and wow. Sweet Mustang! There's still some polish residue but you can get an idea on the color. That window with the monitor in the background….. That's the Bosses office and he has a state of the art aimable video system and intercom. With 26,000 sq. ft. it's hard to be everywhere at once. Once in a while he'll use the intercom for the shop your in and start talking to you about what your doing. More often than not, it's humorous and not obnoxious. But he is obsessed with keeping up with everything that's going on. It's the way he's wired and it works. No complaints here.
  20. Just to show that not everything at my place is V-8 macho……. `58 Nash Metropolitan. My place did this one a few years ago.
  21. This was just too unusual to not share. It was freshly done and very well assembled and detailed. Lots of effort and money made this a sweetheart.
  22. While returning from grocery shopping this morning we spotted this parked in a restaurants parking lot in Floral Park, N.Y. It's a `46 Buick converted to a Fire Dept. competition vehicle. I've seen the big-block drag cars, but not a vintage stocker. Underneath it was all original. I'll post a second set.
