  1. Well, Satan has decided the dealership needs 4 techs to stand around most of the day today, so guess how I'm starting my weekend? Still flipping coins as to whether or not I should bring the Barracuda...it's supposed to rain later and I hate driving her in the rain. Good friends of our just had their first baby and he comes home today, so we'll visit them tonight. Tomorrow I might cruise out to a meet with my car club, then BBQ sunday night & Monday afternoon. Then back to do Satan's bidding on Tuesday....
  2. Nice to see an update as I'm enjoying this build. I can't wait to see these completed as they are looking good now!
  3. You nailed it. Chassis detail is superb as is the entire build.
  4. What he said...... Nice build!
  5. I'm sure there are up / down sides to living in Az. I've only been there twice and both trips were memorable. The first time I went I stayed at Mountain Shadows Resort in Scottsdale. I had been working with Infiniti for a few years and managed to get a free trip for product training & new technologies. We spent a full day at Firebird Raceway comparing our product with the competition. Imagine being in your early 30's, a full-on gear head, and your being encouraged to power slide a new Lexus to see how much better our car handled.... Probably one of the most outstanding memories I have. And spending 6 days at that resort. I hear Az and I feel pretty good
  6. That was my intention when I started this thread. I wanted to illustrate how people with dis-similar interests can do similar things. My point was that I got a good laugh at how he "modified" his pets. To me it's no worst than putting flames on a vintage car. I thought those Rats were pretty neat....
  7. The Rats were dyed with water based food coloring. Not that I'm condoning abusing animals through these or similar practices, but it was unusual seeing a Orange Rat.... The couple whom had possession of the Rats, on the other hand..... Wow, they were OUT there!
  8. Speaking of Scottsdale area restaurants.... Is Pinacle Peak stiff one of "the" places for a Steak? Like I said, it's been a while.
  9. Castles & Coasters is along side IIRC. I drove up to mall north of Phoenix and thought it was Blackhawk. It's been a while
  10. I'll throw in my two cents.... I bought one of his beautiful phantom second generation Barracuda wagons at NNL east. NICE piece!
  11. If I were you Bill, I'd have a severe case of the "warm & fuzzies" reading that post....
  12. Although we're poking fun at poorly translated box art, these odd-ball kits are great. Please keep posting them!
  13. I wasn't gonna mention the "plasma" VG30E engine either....
  14. My Father in law lives in Phoenix (Near Blackhawk Frwy & Bell Run) and he always taunts me & his Daughter in the winter about how nice it is there. Now we taunt him about living on the face of the sun and we remind him about all the cruises we attend (He has a `49 MG and a `67 Healey. He's way-cool) while he has to wait until the lava cools. It's all in good fun. But we DO owe him a visit `....
  15. This is why I love summer. After coming home from a cruise with the Wife, start a fire and pour a glass of some single malt Scotch.
  16. May I indulge with an off-topic post? Just when I thought I've seen it all....especially since I live in the NYC area, something comes along that get's your attention. As hobbyist whom enjoy modifying their chosen passion, we can relate. Me, my wife,& another couple had gone into Manhattan Friday night. We parked off of Manhattan Island and took the subway in. Fast forward to 3am and we're waiting for the R train when I spot a cat carrier with something Orange peering out.... This is what I was greeted with: We met a street performer who had Orange, Blue, and Rainbow-colored rats. He had them eating off his tongue.... But it just goes to show we all enjoy being unique. We just choose different paths. Here's my buddy wondering how long it would take for his Pit Bull to inhale it....
  17. Your son has an original Gibson EB-3, or the re-issue like mine? As much as I'd love an original, they change hands for big money. I can't afford to tie up that much in Bass #5.... my Wife is cool, but she'd kick my butt. I also own a '92 American made P-bass California Special. P body, Jazz neck & pick up's. Love it, but I hate taking it out to clubs. Everything else I can replace.....
  18. ....since we're on a roll here. In my original post I self-edited, I had started to post that new guitar day in my household is a mixed emotion day. My Wife has initiated a new rule that if one comes, one goes. I had mentioned my recent "new guitar day" was a happy/sad day. I traded in my Ibanez BTB 4 string towards the Warwick Double Buck I posted above. But I trimmed it for fear of getting into it too much. I loved my old 4 string BTB (I still own a 5 string BTB...) but the Warwick feels like my old P-bass, but with more punch. Besides, the BTB has 18 volt active electronics and made it too hot for my playing. Every click, scratch, and thump screamed out of that Bass. The Warwick is so much warmer with less highs, but I can EQ that in. This is why new guitar day is a mixed emotion. I'm starting to think I need a new 5 string. It's a sickness. Like buying un-assembled model cars and never building them....
  19. I wasn't going to mention the P or R words in my post, but those were 2 of the most volatile topics I was referring to. But if we have, say... 5 people whom have a great BBQ marinade recipe, let `em post (within reason) and interact. If 2 people are hammering on with an off-topic personal conversation on the forum, well then I think the Mod's have a valid reason to steer the topic. Thanks for agreeing with the logic behind this thread Gregg & co. Now, back to business: You pulled an Epiphone Les Paul out of a dumpster? Way cool! About 7 months ago I scratched an itch I've had since I was 13. I started playing Bass because of hearing Jack Bruce, whom played a Gibson EB-3 with Cream. I bought an Epiphone copy of the EB3-L and I love it! And this was the Bass I deleted from my original post. I bought a Warwick Corvette $$
  20. For the younger members here I strongly recommend you read-up at least a little bit on Big Willie. He was truly larger than life. What did for the LA community, kids, and Drag Racing is inspirational. He tried to unite people through organized drag racing. Didn't matter race, income, or social status: everybody was a member of the brotherhood. He was a decorated Vietnam veteran and very active with the youth of his day. We need more people like this man.... RIP Mr. Robinson.
  21. Yet another sad day in the automotive world. Want to talk about a larger-than-life legacy? http://bangshift.com/blog/big-willie-robinson-larger-than-life-drag-racing-supporter-and-crusader-has-died.html
  22. While I agree this is a model car forum, it's also a place for people to get to know each other. As someone whom has been a moderator on another forum, we would reserve the right to steer topics only when they became a 2-person conversation or were volatile. Not trying to argue, but music and cars go hand-in-hand. We're just trying to be social.
  23. Actually you'd only raise your bid the minimum amount to outbid the previous bidder. So if you accidentally added and extra zero to a $34 bid, you'd have to be trying to out-bid $337.50.. or an amount close to that.
