More incentive.... And some more....

NICE PROJECT!!!! We need details! Is it mini-tubbed? Which K frame is in it? Auto? 8 3/4" SG? Gears? I see it's a drag car, are you returning it to the street? And of course, the big question: What engine are you planning on dropping in? My buddy Tom has a nice `68 small block/auto. It's a terror....

Anyone here play guitar?
FASTBACK340 replied to SuperStockAndy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks for the compliment! The Vocalist bailed on us a week before a showcase gig.... he bit off more than he can chew. His background is Industrial/Goth and he thought he could work with us playing Rock. No dice... he voice would blow out every other week. We suggested a vocal coach, and he walked. We are auditioning 2 female vocalist this week. We're trying a new direction. Granted it's a cheesy recording done in a small club, but it's proof that I actually play... -

What do you drive?
FASTBACK340 replied to gasman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hey, don't laugh at those Villager/Quest mini vans! They take a beating and come back for more. Tail wagging and all.... My daily driver is this 2-owner `99 Maxima I picked up.I bought it from a co-worker who was the second owner when it had 23K on it. I got it with just a tick over 100K and it'll go another 100K with proper maintenance. She's loaded w/eather, roof, white-face gauges, alloys, etc.... Then there's the Wife's daily driver she hardly drives anymore (she loves the Maxima.... go figure) that is a 2004 with only 52K on it. We bought it new and try and keep it as nice as we can. It's a turbo 1.8/auto and yes, it's ticket-bait fast. And of course the `Cuda, which is about as far as a daily driver you can get (6-7 MPG in town....10 highway) -
Coming along nicely Sir!

LEGO Hardcore
FASTBACK340 replied to FASTBACK340's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I know it's MILES off-topic, be what the heck. I thought it was well done AND very clever! Although I'm not a big fan of metal that heavy, it is a well arranged song with a few tasty drum syncopation's. Great groove! And yes, LEGO Black Ops is awesome, but a bit harsh for kids. Now if you want some REAL dark stuff, Cyanide & Happiness get's my vote! -

My Nephew is into Lego's and he's learning guitar. I can't wait to show him.... -

Could you please expand on the EX powders and the black paint?

Nice GTX & welcome aboard.

Wow... I can remember when the streets of NYC were CRAWLING with Checkers! If you see one now it's at a show. Great conversion of something truly unique.

I adore that color combination! Not many Daytona's were made in that color IIRC, only a few...

Bare Metal on your second build? Your well on your way.... Nice job. Sweet, clean build. Follow some of the advice on build #3 and you'll see the difference. Bit by bit we all pick up tips and methods.

Scratch Building an Aussie Ford Falcon **New update,15/1/18**
FASTBACK340 replied to ShawnS's topic in WIP: Model Cars
To say your scratch building is impressive is an understatement! Incredible workmanship.... absolutely incredibly. -
Awesome build... one of my favorite Barracuda racecar's. The colors & markings are so eye grabbing. But.....Being second generation Barracuda's are my specialty, your build is a `69, NOT a `68. If your interested in the differences, I can fill you in. Otherwise, it's a beauty!

Ideas Needed
FASTBACK340 replied to FASTBACK340's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
At first I was thinking of retro Tortoise shell, but now I'm thinking of maybe a bronze or brown smoke color Plexi-glass/Lexan.... which I can hopefully find locally. I want to complete this in the next day or so. Hopefully this will be a quickie project. Thanks Jeff. I just recently traded in my Ibanez BTB 4 string towards the Warwick. It's the Corvette $$ (pronounced Double Buck) model and I love it. It's just the mechanics I'm working with now. The corner of the fret board and the close proximity of the pick up makes for a small target to slap & pop. Between my finger nails digging into my brand new guitar's body and me smacking my thumb against the corner of the fret board has me thinking of reaching for the Dremel too.... Updates to follow. Thanks for the interest! -
When ever this thread get's bumped up and I'll ask again: Anyone been in contact with Randy? Is it true he hasn't been on the forum in a long time? Is everything OK? Granted, this build is epic, but more important how's the builder doing? Long-term absence is concerning....especially from a popular modeler in the mist of a project like this.

Absolutely! I can relate to bucking tradition when building something YOUR way.My non-factory 6Bbl. small block with an incorrect colored lid....

Hmmm... Plexi-glass. Thin clear piece of Plexi-glass! No worries about color coordinating or material. Hard to notice... Simple to work with and cheap. DING-DING-DING! We have a winner! Will post results.... -
I belong to another forum, it's called MOPARTS. Obviously it's a Mopar specific site. One of the largest & most popular in the community. Everything Mopar is covered there. But the big detractor to the site is the in-hobby bickering about how A bodies are bottom feeders and how EVERYONE knows that E bodies or certain B bodies are the best, etc... Ask a question about a Dart or Duster and more often than not the standard answer is sell it a buy a {----}. I've always wondered why?I think the same thing applies here and this is the logic I can come up with:Same Church, different pew's.

This is the Bass in question. You can see the small area I mentioned... -
Slightly off-topic, but revelant to our hobby. As discussed in another post about guitars, some of us play, we all dabble in plastic. I need the fabricate a small "pick guard " for one on my Bass's. My Warwick has a small area between the base of the neck and the forward pick up where I can get in to snap the G string when I slap. It also has a nature wood finish I'm ruining with my finger nail digging into the wood when I snap. No factory guard is offered. So I made a pattern approx. the size I need. My question : Without having a standard material piece made from the usual sources, give me an idea for a unique material ? I was thinking aluminum, but it wouldn't match the rest of the Bass. I'd like to make it myself. Fire away....

FWIW: I was thinking how cool it would look if you flat-blacked the hood and instead of 340WEDGE being across the corner of the hood, just put 340-6. Then the blacked-out spoiler would look balanced. Also, hard-core Mopar fanatics will tell you Hemi orange, hi-performance orange (340-383-440..) and the 6 Bbl. air cleaner lid are ALL different shades. But I think you build it how YOU envision in. As a 6 bbl. A body owner, you have my undivided attention on this sweet build...
