  1. Thanks Ron. You are kind….. I am going to try my hand at making it look used , so a little dirt and grime and the odd oil stain ….. that’s the ‘plan’ any way. Thanks for checking in …
  2. I felt the same way for eons …. But the new pigments etc are nice to work with. Start out gentle and then as the urge comes add more. I strive for as real as I can… I may over do it here and there, but give it a go, Steve . Find an old kit and play. It adds a whole new level of fun ….. I’m not very good at it but I keep practising. I really don’t have a handle on blending and chipping but I can add mud ! Lol
  3. Thanks for the info Brian, this time I actually used an acrylic paint and ‘so far’ things are ok. ….. so far ….. talking with Ken he says these juice harps leaked oil everywhere , so I guess it has to be sloppy oil at least. Then it is how much dirt and dust …….????
  4. A little update. Doesn’t look like much but holy, it took a long time. Cab interior painted and masked ready for some outside paint, a start on the 318, and some paint on the frame …….. now …… I need to decide how dirty this truck will be …….??? any thoughts ?
  5. Many thanks , Jack. Greatly appreciated. Jeff
  6. Its the little details that make a model pop. Nice job, Steve. This is a sweet build. Jeff
  7. Thanks for that. Please thank him for his service from me when you see him again. I would appreciate it cheers Jeff
  8. After 23 years of dedicated service in the Canadian Army, two tours in Afghanistan, Leopard 2A6 tank commander on a combat tour, and trained some of the young guys and reaching a rank of Major, my son retired today, and Cathy and I are very proud of him and his service. Thanks Tyler !
  9. Those doors are beautiful. Love the hinges and with the latches look top drawer ….. all we need now is BEER! ???
  10. Heavy, heavy duty ! I love it. I would love to drive a unit like that. Awesome details. Just curious as to how you connected all the ‘Canadian ‘ cold climate air filters to the intakes under the hood. They look so cool. They used to be all over back in the day and these days it is a rare thing to see. I can't wait to see more. Jeff
  11. Hey Ron......... you are too kind to me, yes mine did come with the California Hauler dash but also the insert for the 352 is a separate piece, it is part #72, and on the sprue with one of the front springs and bed etc... check in the bags before you go to all the trouble to change things out, as it is a specific piece and grafting the flat dash wouldn't be very good... the part may have broken off, it is an 'L' shape piece...
  12. I wish I could help with the decal situation, Steve, but I am impressed that you are making your own decals to start with … and your recovery with the blue stripe is a great one. The truck looks just great ! She looks like she is ready to ‘steam up’ and hit the road ! I like this one a lot. Jeff
  13. I probably shouldn’t post my stuff on your thread but I saw this unit in. The summer time in Alberta. Kind of the best of both worlds. JM , if you wud rather I not post this on your thread , I will remove it. I don’t want to do any hijacking, thought it might give you another idea ……. Jeff
  14. Looks great. Nice job and very realistic……Had a friend of mine drive one. After his pretrip the cab didn’t quite lock. All was ok until he had to stop on a hill facing down and the cab lifted forward to full tilt with my friend’s face jammed into the windshield and he couldn’t move until help came. Hilarious to everyone except him!
  15. They look cool BUT holy cow almost impossible to turn around in a tight spot …… hence the old trucker song ..” give me 40 acres and I’ll turn this rig around “. ???. I find the research most of the time is the best part of doing a specific truck. A guy can go a million different ways. Watching with interest ….
  16. How long will the frame stretch be, James? This is going to be an interesting build. Sitting in the front row for this one.. Jeff
  17. Years ago they did a Provincial referendum here and 97% said to pick one and stick with it, but like every government operation NOTHING has happened and apparently we have to wait for California to do it first …….. Huh? Makes no sense to me ….. we are 700 miles North of California ………….
  18. I wish they would pick ONE time and stick to it ?
  19. Great question, James…. I probably do a little more and as long as the walk is shovelled, Dishwasher has been emptied ( apparently thats ‘my’ job ) I can do as much as I like and I can do it with NO guilt. Winter is not my favourite season and I tend to hibernate. 38 years of highway snow plowing taught me to stay in and warm when I can, and if I don’t want to go out , I head for the model room. So this winter the plan is to do WAY more. Life is short.. Jeff
  20. Take a well earned bow my friend! What a cool project and almost completely ‘ home made’, a LOT of engineering and smarts went into this build…. The Thermo King looks great ! Very impressive. You have a one of a kind unique piece. I’m impressed. Great job !! Jeff
  21. Nice job, Cody…. Looks like the CTM p/e dash…. Isn’t that stuff fabulous? The truck looks great… good to know there are no real issues with the kit, I have one in the stash that I plan on starting soon. Your efforts were well worth it. And I love the load. Excellent Jeff
  22. That is cool. What a great build. It looks really cool. Something about a day cab ….? good job JM. And fast too!
