Thank you all for the replies and compliments. Yep, I just had to do the red-lines. Oh, and I forgot to mention, the foiling went reasonably well except for around the "greenhouse" which was a .....well you know? It's a new sheet of BMF Matte. It rubs out nicely with anything soft...looks like the chrome. It does seem a bit thin but boy didnit stick.

Good work on the oldie Vette. I enjoyed doing that one, mine in black.

Cool and unusaual build there Craig?

Very nice work there Bryan. Great job on the vinyl top. Welcome to the forum.

Well Jung-min, that is a great looking 959 and welcome to the forum. Clearly you are no newbie to model car building even tho this is your first post. Just wondering if you had the issue with getting the body over the engine as has been discussed here.

I finished this a few days ago...it's the old AMT Pontiac Polyglass Gasser II kit. No clue why it's called a "Gasser" as there is nothing about this kit that qualifies it as such. As a Pontiac fan I always liked the big cars so just had to have one...in model form at least. She's painted in DecoArt Extreme Sheen Deep Sapphire metallic craft paint over Createx Autoborne silver sealer. Clear is the Rustoleum Crystal Clear Acrylic Lacquer. Interior is all hand brush painted with craft paints. The 3 tone color seats were a chore but I persisted and got it pretty good. The extensive detail on the real car dash was a chore for me to replicate and really did not come out very well. In looking at a lot of reference pictures of these cars the stances varied but I always liked the slightly raised front look. The 8-lug wheels are not in this kit and for any "authorities" out there I know red lines were not available yet in 1962 but I just like how they look with the darker blue. Anyway with all that being said, here are some pictures: He it is in the silver Autoborne sealer. This stuff really goes on nice. Well Folks, that's it and thanks for looking. Mike?

Well Luke, you sure nailed the BMF. And yes, The masking tape guide method is sometimes a lifesaver. Great looking '62 and I'm so envious of that black paint job. Being a huge '57 Chevy fan I will sure be looking in on that build. Pretty color. The snapper I did in a slightly darker blue.

Just saw this one Riley...great looking stock truck. As others have said it looks grat in the color you chose and the finish looks accurate for that era paint job.☝️ -

Very nice work Marc. The exterior paint is a darn good likeness of an original paint job. ☝️ -
Thanks for repying Jim. Such nice paint jobs and with no clear is so interesting. I never used a clear until I started using craft paint and Createx. That burgandy on the 5-window coupe is sure pretty.

Very cool Nomad John....very nice work☝️

Those are nice paint jobs Jim....you didn't mention what the paint is.

Very interesting story Mike. Ours was bought new from the dealer. I specifically wanted the H.O. engine and luckily they had just what we wanted. Was black with the silver ground effects.

Dreaded Orange Peel
TransAmMike replied to TransAmMike's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Well as I have said, my acrylic in the form of craft and Createx isn't really the issue. I just have to find a clear that I can apply without or with minimal orange peel. I have never used the actual model acrylics. I there actually one that dries with a gloss finish? -
Very nice Ray, I also enjoyed doing that kit☝️

Hey there Mike form another Mike. Good job of the "replica". I bought an '84 new myself. My wife claimed it as her car. I talked her into letting me sell it because I wanted a Corvette. She cried her eyes out as the new owner drove it off.....she never lets me forget it too even after all these years.

Dreaded Orange Peel
TransAmMike replied to TransAmMike's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Well Dave, as it appears my orange peel issue is likely the Rustoleum rattlecan Crystal Clear acrylic lacquer, maybe it's time for me to try another product.....or change the way I spray it. I've been sitting here looking at available products and since all my purchases are pretty much limited to on-line with HL exception, I can't do a lot of trying different products. -

Hi there Dave...I can always count on you for advice? I have been using the stynylrex primer since you suggested it to me. I more recently discovered the Createx Autoborne sealer and really like it. Goes on easily to a smoothe finish. One plus with the Autoborne is it come in several colors so you can kind of color key your top color coat. If I understand right, the Tamiya is a clear that has color?? -
