Great stuff, thanks for the info, I was hoping the red '65 was correct. I wouldn't know how to recreate those ribs on the lower portion of the car if I were to do them chrome. I'll definitely be using the rear fender skirts, although I'm not a big fan of them, the lines on this car look amazing and it's one of few cars that look better with them on, to me anyway:D

Love it, it looks real! Very nice job.

Question, did the '65 Grand Prix have stainless chrome below the trim line or was it body colour? I see two different versions looking through images.

Looking good. Nice colour!

That's the thing, if you keep getting issues it's not worth the hassle. In the UK I use paint from a motor factors called Halfords, I don't think the US has a Halfords. Other brands I've had excellent results with and you should be able to find online, is Hycote, Plasti kote, and Motip.

The seam lines for the vinyl roof are done. I've now masked off around the window frames, roof gutters etc, so to keep them smooth for foiling later. I like to do the roof first cos sometimes the masking tape can leave marks on the body paint and I have to spend ages then polishing it out. The tape doesn't seem to mark anything that's textured.

I like those! Very nice builds. I have an '80 Volare myself to build.

Really nice. I had a Corgi die cast of this as a kid, we used to shoot lit matches out of those rocket tubes!?

Great job on the weathering, I like the burn mark around the exhaust. pop, pop, pop!!

Very nice. I had a framed picture of one of these in my bedroom as a kid, I loved it.

Paint looks great. Very clean looking Chevelle, I like that!

Looking good, nice job on the wheels.

Do you have one of those automatic air fresheners spitting off in the room? I had one in my kitchen and wondered why a couple of my builds were reacting regarding paint. When I did the whole paint job in my shed I had no issues, but if I brought it into the house between coats the air freshener particles would float about and stick to everything, it took me weeks to figure out why the same paint I used worked one day but not the next. I figured it out by chasing a darn fly around the kitchen with fly spray, that too ruined a pint job on one of my builds so I kind of made the connection to the air freshener going off!

The front grill is a little hard to detail, the black wash doesn't like settling in the recesses and collects around the edges. I'v made a start on the vinyl roof and got the engine in paint but will have to leave it for tonight as it's raining so bad I can feel the moisture getting into my shed and that's no good for paint.

Funny you should mention that, Dave. Iris Mist was the colour I wanted to do and I looked everywhere for that shade but just couldn't find anything close enough at my local store. It was either too purple or non metallic. I'm in the process of doing the vinyl roof tonight and I've narrowed my options down to two colour combos, Arctic White with black roof or Aztec Bronze with white roof.

Very nicely done, sweet looking build. Love the colour.

On the kitchen table this week is the AMT '65 Pontiac Grand Prix. This is the low rider by Barris, released in 1980 I think! Having already done the custom version of this I wanted to do a stock build and saw this going cheap on ebay, but this kit only has the custom option available. No problem, I had enough parts left over from the custom Grand Slam build I did recently to build a stock version, basically the only parts from this kit I'm using is the body, chassis base, engine block and hood, everything else was left over from the Grand Slam kit! Haven't decided what colour to go with yet, I'm leaning toward white as the interior is already painted black, and I think this one is crying out for a vinyl roof.

Mould Making, but not model cars....yet!
doorsovdoon replied to doorsovdoon's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
It's just silicone rubber, Polycraft GB-3481-F with catalyst. I use SG2000 PU casting resin. I don't know how well it would hold up on something as thin as a model car body, 1-1 parts are far thicker, it's just another skill I'd like to try. -
Very nice interior, I like that colour!

Phantom 1971 Dodge Charger R/T Daytona w/friends
doorsovdoon replied to Peter Lombardo's topic in Model Cars
Seriously nice builds! I can't pick a favourite, I like all three. The colour combo and wheels of the pick-up, the stance of the Daytona and that '71 yellow Charger has some attitude! Really nicely done. -
Great start, Geoff. Yeah, the newer kits are definitely much thinner plastic than the older releases. No issues with it but I do wonder if they are the new promo warps of the future!

I think PB used to be free then they decided to start charging, understandable, but to hold peoples current photos at the time for ransom, which is exactly what it was, was way out of order. Luckily I only had a few pictures on another car site back then and was able to just edit my posts with direct picture uploads, like on here rather than them being hosted from elsewhere. At first they completely deleted the pictures, well, they were there but all you saw was a grey window. After a while, they decided, probably from the flood of people who gave them the finger, they brought the pictures back but blurred and out of focus, then they changed it up again recently by just slapping a great huge watermark over the pictures. After that stunt they pulled a couple years back I have never bothered with them, no need anyway as most sites allow direct picture uploads.

Had an order in for ten radio fascias for the Ford Capri and Morris Marina, it hadn't really occurred to me until recently that I could easily make re-pops of model kit parts! Something I think I might get into but we'll see, anyway, here's some pics of some of the castings, moulds, and various finished 1-1 car parts.

Looks amazing. I love the weathering detail, looks so real!
