I have one of the '56 Buicks on pre-order from Cult TV Man, his site shows this kit as "On hold at this time". No other info posted. It also seems to have disappeared from the pre-order page on Atlantis' website.

With most AMT car/light truck kits now priced in the $35-40 range, I wonder how that is going to effect sales in the long run. It's hard to justify paying that kind of money for an old tool kit that in most cases can be found at swaps & internet for half that price or less, but you don't get the retro box art!

Nice! If I ever get a place with some acreage, an AA would be the "farm truck". I've got a soft spot for stock Model A's, between my dad & my grandfather we had a bunch of them. -

Spotted this clean, clean '64 Country Squire Wagone. Had to go back and check it out. Nice resto, even the Di-Noc vinyl was replaced. The fiberglass trim around the woodgrain was nice too. As someone who has owned a few 50s & 60s Ford Wagons, it's nice to see one nicely done. -

Nice to see old Fords still earning their keep! Is that a load of AA chassis parts on the trailer? -
Nice haul! That Monogram Model A Phaeton is one I wish would get reissued.

When I saw Ministry in 2008 Burton C. Bell did a couple songs and Tony Campos played for the whole tour. I think Campos is still involved with Ministry. I will have to see if any of that is on Youtube, heard of Soundwave. There's a Cold Waves they hold in Chicago that attracts a lot of the old Industrial acts, but I've never been.

Deburring metal models
RSchnell replied to unclescott58's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I do a fair amount of the old Hubley metal models and I use a set of small files, sanding block with 280 or 320 paper and a set of cheap cutters/nippers from Harbor Freight. -
I saw Slayer on a triple bill with Anthrax & Megadeth. The crowd was lame and no mosh pit. But Slayer was the best of the three!

It's hard to pick one for me: Loudest- Ministry & Meshuggah at Jannus Landing, St. Pete, FL in 2008. Insanely awesome show. But I'm a big Ministry fan so I'm biased. Best production and sound- Rammstein, Amalie Arena, Tampa, FL 2012 Out of 100+ concerts I've attended, Rammstein's whole production was incredible and has no peer. Wildest, anything went- Lords of Acid & My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, State Theatre St. Pete, FL Best vibe- Molly Hatchet- Bike Week Daytona Beach, 2013.

Ordered some aircraft kits and picked these up while I was at it. They were waiting on me when I got home tonight!

I learned how to drive @ 11 yrs old in 1989 in one of the family Model A's, in this case a '29 Pickup we used around our orange groves and property. I must've put 5000 miles on it while never hitting the street! Took my driver's test in my Dad's '55 Ford Convertible in 1994. -
Thanks for the kind words! I found my box of pinstriping brushes, so I'll be able to lay down some straight lines. LOL

Like Bill posted, Testors is still in business. What part of FL are you in John?

Here is the finished build of the Hubley Ford Coupe I posted about in this thread. Not happy with the pinstriping, but for a shelf sitter it's just fine. Those old metal kits aren't the most detailed and take some work to get the flash off, but they are fun to build! Colors are Tamiya TS-55 dark blue, Tamiya TS-14 black and Humbrol 89 blue wheels and stripe. I was going for the combo of the original Lombard Blue/Black with Hessian Blue wheels & stripe that was offered on the 1:1 1930 Fords.

I always wanted to build the Duesenberg Hubleys. I had a Hubley '32 Chevrolet Coupe on my desk when I had the resto shop. A customer bugged me about that car for 2 months. I ended up giving to him when he came to pick up the '55 Thunderbird I was working on for him. Come to find out his first car was a '32 Chevy Coupe way back in the day. Would like to build more of the Model A Hubleys for the second & third times, but I can't bring myself to pay ebay prices so I keep a look out at shows & model swaps.

Those are nice, I may have to see if my local Ikea has any. Those would sure work better than the Vans shoe boxes/ziploc bags method if parts storage I use now!

Interesting pair I spotted last night. You don't see many of these older LTD Crown Vics on the road like you used to. As for the second pic, sorry for the poor quality, it's a screen grab from my dash cam. Not sure what kind of car it was, but if you look close you can see the cords showing on the tires- and little wonder why! I hurried up and got around that piece before one of those tires blew. -
This was my first chance to use a Molotow chrome pen that I picked up the other day. While it won't replace Bare Metal Foil I think it's great for small pieces and touchup where a chrome part gets cut off the sprue. I used the same Humbrol 89(close match to Ford's Hessian Blue) that I painted the wheels with to do the pinstripe. I couldn't find my box of real pinstriping brushes so had to improvise, but for a car that is going to sit on the shelf with the rest of Hubley Model A's in my collection it will be just fine. The brown Coupe is one my grandfather built in 70s. You can always spot a 70s restoration of an early 30s car-it seems 90% of that era cars were painted in two tone brown/tan with orange or red wheels when they were restored! After some cleanup and touchup I'll post the finished build in the Under Glass section.

Here's the final installment of this build thread, ended up going back to work so that cut my "covid quarantine build" short. Here's a few shots to bring it up to date. I used the kit windows as patterns to cut new ones from a fresh sheet of clear acetate and glued them in with Humbrol Clearfix. At this stage I have the interior done and painted window frames to simulate the original car even though you won't see much when the roof is installed.

Those are great! My dad had a '31 Tudor in Chicle & Copra when I was a kid and my grandfathers A-400 was in Chicle & Copra also so that color combo remains a personal favorite after all these years.
-
Resisted the urge to buy a couple kits at the LHS, but picked up a few supplies. Never tried the Molotow pen, figure I'll give it a shot this weekend.
