  1. This is a monthly car show/swap meet held in central FL. Like most swap meets, it is in decline, but still makes for a good way to kill a few hours on a Sunday morning. The B model Mack I spotted on the way home.
  2. Nice shots! You don't see many of those X-100's out on the road anymore.
  3. I fail to see how filing down the lip on the window openings is going to solve anything. The 1:1 car has the same lip but not as square as the kit version. Seems like this is trading one set of problems for another and throws the geometry off even more!
  4. The old Motors & Chilton books are great. I still refer to mine somewhat often when working on a customer car.
  5. Very good advice! Two of my somewhat nearby LHS have also marked up all kits even ones that haven't moved in a year or more. One of the shops told me he is having problems getting more inventory and expects that to continue for some time. I hit up the Daytona Beach HL and it too was pretty empty. Maybe 30 car/truck kits total in stock. This is probably going to be the new normal for a while!
  6. Some on the road shots. Rough '57 Chevy HT and a '56 Chev and '68 or 69 El Camino on a transporter. I'd be pissed if my El Camino was hauled like that!
  7. Shouldn't these be in the car show photo section? Just curious.
  8. Wonderful set of photos! In the late 90s I was in the heavy truck export business and spent A LOT of time in Miami. Your photos are exactly how I remember it. Now it's so overbuilt, it doesn't look like the same place! Thanks for posting these!
  9. Like you, I like the Corvair over the Nomad. I didn't know Johhny Lightning did the Motorama cars in 1/64. I need to hunt those down!
  10. I think the docent was misinformed. If these in fact are truly original it would be headline news. I've been messing with C1 Corvettes for 25+ years and have never seen any proof the original cars survive. I'm familiar with Joe Bortz and his collection of show cars. Met him at Amelia Island one year. Nice guy! You can build your own Corvair starting with a body. https://backtothefutureproductsllc.com/53-55.shtml
  11. I'd like to see what documentation the museum has that says both of these cars are original. It's pretty well known in C1 Corvette circles that both of these cars were destroyed after the Motorama days. There have been several replicas of each car built over the years. This replica Corvair was for sale a couple years ago for $250K.
  12. I try not to complain much, but that unveiling video was actually painful to watch. Low resolution, poor lighting, it reminded me of a Dr. Steve Brule episode. Aside from the garbage truck, everything else was pretty much public knowledge. A disappointment.
  13. I'm down for one and hopefully they make a Scenicruiser to go with it!
  14. I'd love to see a reissue of the '62 Ford Galaxie convertible as it's one of my holy grail kits. Not sure what the status of the molds are, maybe I wasn't looking in the right place when I did a search. Add the 1960 Ford Pickup to that list too. And pretty much any Ford product of the 50s & 60s that hasn't been reissued in ages.
  15. Spotted this Fairlane dressed up as a Torino Cobra on I-75 earlier today.
  16. I wouldn't do a thing to that Model A except wash it and give it the Gibbs Oil treatment. Looks like a decent original car. Slant Windshield Fordors have the advantage of much less body wood than the earlier Fordors. Any other photos of this car?
  17. Here's a shot I snagged from Cult TV Man's Facebook page showing the ramp truck in the background.
  18. Primus is one of the few bands I've wanted to see live but never had the chance. I REALLY wanted to see them when they toured with Tool in 2016. That would've been an awesome show.
  19. It'd be interesting to see if this trend continues of less kits and more die cast & sci-fi.
  20. Excellent set of pics! That '56 Desoto wagon is cool, great color combination. Nice to see another Nikon shooter!
  21. Post of the day right there. Nice post Bill! It's also worth noting that both Musk & Bezos have helped revitalize an ailing economy among the Space Coast of Florida, namely Brevard County.(I'm sure this is true for other locales, but I've seen it first hand here) When the Shuttle program ended quite a few NASA employees as well as contractor's employees were furloughed. Everything from food service to building new launch sites has brought a lot of good paying jobs. I took these photos standing on the beach in Cape Canaveral. The first pic is Bezos' Blue Origin launch pad at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, the second is a snap I took 5 minutes later. One of Elon Musk's Space X rockets going up. It never gets old watching & hearing a launch.
  22. While not exactly what you're looking for, this thread might have some useful info! https://forums.aaca.org/topic/338576-beautiful-tow-truck-fire-emergency-conversions/
  23. He'll post another 12 minute video on what he planned to do but couldn't for whatever reason! Like I said, this guy loves to hear himself talk.
  24. I'll have to snag a couple of these since I'm a big C1 Corvette fan. I always thought the artwork was nicely done for the stamp back in 2005.
  25. I started a new job Monday back in my field of expertise, vintage cars. More money, no work politics and get to drive early Corvettes on a regular basis amongst other Early Iron. The hours are flexible which allows me to continue with my freelance photography work. Now that day 4 is done I'm very pleased and lucky to have landed the spot out of 115 other applicants!
