  1. Spotted this Fairlane dressed up as a Torino Cobra on I-75 earlier today.
  2. I wouldn't do a thing to that Model A except wash it and give it the Gibbs Oil treatment. Looks like a decent original car. Slant Windshield Fordors have the advantage of much less body wood than the earlier Fordors. Any other photos of this car?
  3. Here's a shot I snagged from Cult TV Man's Facebook page showing the ramp truck in the background.
  4. Primus is one of the few bands I've wanted to see live but never had the chance. I REALLY wanted to see them when they toured with Tool in 2016. That would've been an awesome show.
  5. It'd be interesting to see if this trend continues of less kits and more die cast & sci-fi.
  6. Excellent set of pics! That '56 Desoto wagon is cool, great color combination. Nice to see another Nikon shooter!
  7. Post of the day right there. Nice post Bill! It's also worth noting that both Musk & Bezos have helped revitalize an ailing economy among the Space Coast of Florida, namely Brevard County.(I'm sure this is true for other locales, but I've seen it first hand here) When the Shuttle program ended quite a few NASA employees as well as contractor's employees were furloughed. Everything from food service to building new launch sites has brought a lot of good paying jobs. I took these photos standing on the beach in Cape Canaveral. The first pic is Bezos' Blue Origin launch pad at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, the second is a snap I took 5 minutes later. One of Elon Musk's Space X rockets going up. It never gets old watching & hearing a launch.
  8. While not exactly what you're looking for, this thread might have some useful info! https://forums.aaca.org/topic/338576-beautiful-tow-truck-fire-emergency-conversions/
  9. He'll post another 12 minute video on what he planned to do but couldn't for whatever reason! Like I said, this guy loves to hear himself talk.
  10. I'll have to snag a couple of these since I'm a big C1 Corvette fan. I always thought the artwork was nicely done for the stamp back in 2005.
  11. I started a new job Monday back in my field of expertise, vintage cars. More money, no work politics and get to drive early Corvettes on a regular basis amongst other Early Iron. The hours are flexible which allows me to continue with my freelance photography work. Now that day 4 is done I'm very pleased and lucky to have landed the spot out of 115 other applicants!
  12. That's a great idea! I had not thought of that. I could pick up one of the old AMT Dodge Daytona kits and do McCall's ride as well.
  13. I always wanted to build Major Nelson's Pontiac Bonneville convertible from I dream of Jeannie, any of the Ford Galaxie squad cars from Andy Griffith show, Kramer's car from Seinfeld. While not a sitcom, I'd like to get a case of the MPC Dodge Monacos and build a few variations of the many Monacos that Sgt. Rick Hunter wrecked over the course of the TV series. It's my favorite show. There is one episode where Hunter is driving a '56 Chevy convertible and it breaks down. It's only seen that in that one episode.
  14. This guy sure likes to hear himself talk!
  15. Sure looks like Central Ave. in St. Petersburg, FL. Some of the buildings are still there, but the trolley tracks have been paved over for years.
  16. These are all in Tampa. Tampa has some good stuff still hidden in the old neighborhoods.
  17. An assortment from today. Saw a bunch of good stuff, but couldn't get pics of everything due to traffic. Clean Peterbilt, Mustang in traffic, '70 Pontiac convertible sitting behind a house, Rolls Royce in the low rent district.
  18. Ordered a fairly expensive tilt shift camera lens to upgrade from my current one. It shows up today, I open the box and it's damaged. Hardly any packing material between the two boxes. This thing must've been dropped off a 10 story building. Email the business and explain what happened and how poorly the item was packed. You'd think on a $2500 piece of equipment they'd pack it a little better, especially something as fragile as a DSLR lens. At least they sent me a return shipping label within an hour of me sending the email and it's on the way back to them. Now I just need to find another lens! Supply chain issues have hit the camera industry as well.
  19. Those are nice buses! It's always nice to find something after a long search at a great price. Had the pleasure of driving a Scenicruiser from Kentucky to Florida back when I was in the export business. 2 stroke Detroit had no problem pushing that bus 80 mph on the interstate.
  20. I've sure chipped off a bunch of it back in the day. If it never fully solidifies then why does it crack and shrink? I can always spot old restorations where someone put too many coats on and it has shrank and cracked over the years. While it's nitrocellulose based, add NitroStan Red Putty into the same category.
  21. Lincoln Zephyrs are neat cars. The V-12 is pretty anemic, the pistons aren't much bigger than a soft drink can. It was common for the V-12 to get pulled & some other engine put in it's place. You just can't beat their styling though! This is a '38 Zephyr I saw at a local auction a few years back. The dash is Art Deco all the way....
  22. I use a variety. Everything from Tamiya spray, Dupli-Color touch up paint you get at the parts store, Humbrol enamel, Model Master Enamel & lacquers, Tamiya Acrylic and have recently been experimenting with Revell Acrylic paint. I use either Dupli-Color or Martin Senour lacquer primers on everything before topcoat.
  23. On Model A's, 90% of the enamel stuff was dipped including fenders, wheels, backing plates, etc. All bodies were sprayed in house as well. Here's a couple shots from the Model A Paint & Finish Guide.
  24. Lacquer is probably THE fastest drying paint out there, it dries by oxidation & solvent evaporation. Urethanes require a catalyst which makes the paint more durable, this paint cures by chemical reaction-one of which is isocyanate, the same chemical in super glues. Urethanes are also not susceptible to humidity like lacquer and can be sprayed in any condition provided you use the correct thinner & activator. I painted Antique Cars for years- I still miss PPG's Duracryl and Dupont's Lucite. Base/Clear looks way out of place on a stock 1930s or 40s car! There are several reasons the auto industry quit using lacquer. It's not a durable long term paint for something that sits out in the elements for years and EPA regulations. I can't see any advantage(but always stand to be corrected!) to using 2K urethanes on a build, proper mixing would be an issue. If you spray urethane paint on kits, you better have a darn good ventilation system & respirator, it's nasty stuff.
  25. I don't even worry about a hurricane until it's a strong Cat 3. Being a native Floridian, I've been through a bunch of them! Some of the neighbors & I are getting together tomorrow night for a "tropical storm beer & oyster shindig"
