I have a couple projects that require the optional full wheel covers used on early C3 Vettes. From what I've read, certain full size Chevrolet cars like the Caprice used a similar cover. Does anyone know where I can find a couple sets? There are 2 different versions(P01 '68 only & P02) of the Corvette wheel covers, but the differences are minor and not likely detected in scale. Here's a couple photos for reference..

Most of my inspiration comes from 40+ years of being in the vintage car hobby, going to shows, building cars, owning a resto shop, and doing automotive photography. I'll see a car at a show that looks good to me and I'll shoot a few extra shots for reference later on.

I wrapped each model in newspaper and taped it up. I put down thick bubble wrap in the bottom of the box then weaved thin bubble wrap between the models as I put them in the box. 2 layers of thick wrap on top then put another layer of wrapped models until I had the box full. My move was only 100 miles, but they sustained no damage with this method.

I know there's some Corvette guys here. The Corvette Restorer's Club used to hold their Winter Regional show at Old Town in Kissimmee, FL after moving the show from Cypress Gardens in Winter Haven, FL. I've been sorting photos and figured y'all might like to see a few. These photos are from several different years of the show.

Very nice! '61's are such good looking cars!

Thanks everyone for the kind words!

It's actually a '31 as the slant windshield Cabriolets came out in mid '31. Anyways! I picked this up partially built, tore it down and started over. Nothing fancy, built straight from the box. Cheated on the radiator shell by painting a '31 insert at the top. I was aiming for Brewster Green/Black with Apple Green wheels an original '31 Cabriolet color combo.

What did you see on the road today?

That's a nice looking '68 Vette. You don't see that bronze color very often! -
Stopped in the local HL today and noticed they took out the racks for Model Master and condensed the regular Testors bottle & sprays. Leads me to believe they're not bringing in another paint line. On the kit side of the aisle they took out a 2ft section from each level of shelves vertically and the space was empty. This was right between the car kits and military stuff. It'll be interesting what they put there. Since they did away with the 40% off coupon I seldom trade there anymore.

This right here. Most of the time I have no idea who all these people are!

Can anyone identify a source for this?

I don't know of any but am following this thread. I could use a few sets of accurate 18" Ford wheels. The ones in the AMT '32 kits look more like 16's to me. Just for future reference: 1932 - 18" wheel, 1933 & 1934- 17" wheel 1935- 16" wheel -
Looks like I'll have to pick up both versions for my VW collection! I missed out on a running/driving 70s Westfalia for $1500 a few years ago. By the time I got there it was sold.

I've built a bunch of the metal Model A's over the years, but never knew Hubley made a plastic '62 Ford Wagon. I need one of those! I wonder what became of the metal model kits? Never got the chance to build the Packard or Duesenberg or any of the Model T's. I think the lineage was Hubley, Gabriel then JLE Scale Models which I think was a subsidiary of Ertl?

Remember the good old days ??????????

For me it was the mid 90s. Fresh out of high school, worked at a body shop by day, funeral home at night(driving the hearse through Taco Bell drive-thru was always fun) and still had time to play with cars. I drove a '55 Ford Tudor Sedan, '62 Ford Convertible 390/4spd car & sometimes the Model A. I owned no modern car back then. The weekend cruise-ins didn't look like a used car lot like they do today. No cell phone, had a pager for when I was on call at the funeral home. Also the car show swap meets-and there were a bunch still around back then, had actual car parts and not glassware & lawnmowers and clothes like you see at swaps today. Florida had 8 million less people back then, you could actually get around town or across the state. I have to say, I much prefer my Nikon D7500 over shooting film any day! Sometimes Modern Times ain't so bad. Sometimes. -
The only kits I have duplicates of are C1 & C2 Corvettes, Model A Ford kits and '55-56 Ford kits. I must have 10 of the AMT '56 Ford Victoria. And yes I'll buy more if I find a good deal on them! Haha.
-
The C1 Corvettes I've driven were the same way. I've drove/worked on at least one of each year from '56-62 and found them to have enough room to be comfortable. I've been half looking for a '61 to add to the collection.
-
Room was the main reason I drove my '56 Ford Sedan as a daily driver for years. I'm not a big guy (6ft around 220) but most new cars you have to fold up like an accordion. The '56 was a seamless transition, slide in and slide out. One of the businesses I own requires me to do a bit of travel. When I went modern iron I tried on several makes & models, ended up with a new Jetta when they did the redesign in 2019. It's not perfect but I have plenty of room. I always wanted a '55 Thunderbird- until I restored one for a customer. No leg room and my eyes where right in line with the windshield header.

Great shot! There was a guy local that imported a Model Y. I parked next to him at a show once- the Y made my Model A looks massive by comparison!
