  1. Thanks Dave, I have looked for this and I have found many examples that opposite each other, either silver engine and gold covers or gold engine and silver/chrome covers. From what I could see in the beginning of the movie, I thought it was silver engine and gold covers/gold air-filters. It would be too late now anyway, since the engines are build-up already, but thanks for you research.!
  2. Nick; sorry, but I use nothing but MSN or Skype. Thanks Guys, I am glad my work also inspires other people, I guess that's what the snowball effect is all about Although I really need somebody who can help me with my poor BMF skills, as you can see on the Ferrari; it sucks, I wish I knew some more tips and tricks, I already use a q-tip and toothpick, but I still manage to get folds and cracks, which really effects the build iMHO. Well, the end is near, I polished the Ferrari and the clear did its job, I am not satisfied with the paintjob, there are still way too many flaws in it, but I am on a learning curve here, so I won't let it happen the next time. I am carefully working on finishing the body, if that's done, the last straight is in sight and I can finish the Ferrari. Please give me your opinions and views!
  3. No problem, I have finally some more. Progress is quite slow on this project, not because I do not spend any time on it, no. But because it all takes so long, basically everything needs to be changed or custom-made. That is, on the wreck. The other 2 are going more easy, but I don't spend a lot of time on those, since well, they will not take that long. I also made a start on my custom-display box. I needed a different box, so I could fit both cars in and made is some kind dioramic on one side and showroom-likish on the other. I will let the pictures do the talking;
  4. How about a picture? Would love to see it, i guess I started some 20 years ago (i'm 27) and it followed my Lego Technic period. I have no idea what my first build was, but I assume it got trashed with many other models, however my oldest car I still have is a Revell 1/24 928BB (porsche). I just acquired the same kit last year for a too much money, but I want to make a display with the old and new next to each other, just for fun.
  5. Too bad, it doesn't say when it will be released; but: Whoohoo!!!! Thanks Steve
  6. i'm not a collector, I'm a builder and I want to build that Rod But since I am a cheap-*ss, i don't want to pay 200 dollars plus for a model (Although I did bought the new 1:12 Tamiya Porsche 935 ) I just want to build and have some fun
  7. Thanks guys, I feel priviliged to be on this board, by reading through a lot of topics and the vast amount of talent over here, I learn more and more and being able to use techniques in my own projects. Without you guys, I couldn't have done this. So thanks! Raul; I really hope so, I will try to polish the car today, so basically I should be able to tell whether it worked out or not. I think I can be able to make it work, but I am still an amateur, so don't get the hopes to high! Nick; This car is more my own project; if you see a project of mine is 'C-specced', than my girl has the hand in the project and I am letting her decide some major decissions and I will be 'submissive'.....hahaha And meeting....I would hope so, but I live across the ocean and she lives on the west-coast, so it might be a little hard? If you do use MSN, how about we meet on msn-messenger
  8. Don't like her too much Nick I'm glad I found a girl who actually likes me doing my hobby and is interested for it. I had some other idea's on this project, but it is her call and I like it, I personally can't wait how the paintjob is going to be. I'm excited Bill; So basically I can better the USA RoG's than huh? Makes some sense, although I won this car in a raffle at the IPMS nationals in The Netherlands, so I can't complain all that much. haha I would love to see a R8 on those wheels, I just don't think the standard R8 wheels are all that special, they just look to much after-market. I was thinking of either BBS LM wheels or Wegen GT-03 wheels, with a little dish. But it is my girlfriend's choice, although I need to guide her on that a little
  9. Started yesterday this (hideous) Audi R8, it is going to be a birthday present for my girl in Portland, who likes the R8. When I started yesterday on the engine, one thought came to my mind; what a ######, what a toy! The plastic parts are just way to thick and there are holes everywhere after glueing parts together. I seriously thought that RoG was going the better way, but this is a major step backwards, quite a disappointment. Really, there have been many Revell kits in the past that were a lot better, this is just not ok. Sorry. However, it is for my girl and we keep on going, I will show you in a picture the idea I have for the paintjob, it is quickly made in photoshop and tell you good enough my plans. Some graphics will be added too. This will follow shortly with some work in progress pictures.
  10. I want to see the '1000-pound car challenge with sportscars that can not be a Porsche'. I know there is somewhere a YouTube on it, but I can not locate it.
  11. I'm going to send a e-mail to my LHS in Portland a e-mail to hold on to two Rommel's for me than. Thanks! P.s. Anybody has a image/picture or photo of that catalogue?
  12. Think in Eastern Europe. and it has a V8 Engine. I believe all of their passenger cars (3, 4 &5 doors ) had the engine in the back.
  13. I say model, possibly due to the crappy photo (sorry Harry, I know you do your best and you are good at it)
  14. I've read in a thread of Dave that there might be a Rommel's Rod at the LHS, probably i've understood it wrong, (which can happen, since I am not a native English speaker, it is the 3rd language I learned ) but I did some searching on the net and I found somewhere that somebody mentioned the Rommel's Rod in the Revell 2009 catalogue, Can anyone please tell me if this is going to happen? I understood long time ago the molds got recycled to something else and therefore it can not be made again. So this news did excited me a little, but I just want to know if I should not put my hope up high.
  15. A little update, last friday I was able to clear the body, but unfortunately the paint did craze a little. But so far, I think I can polish it smooth. I need to wait until the clear is hard enough for polishing, so I will keep you updated on that one. The interior and Engine bay are virtually done, I need to look into it and see what I am missing, but it looks to be ok. I've used some new techniques which worked out for a first time and will evolve that in my future projects. here are some pictures;
  16. How often do you see that the movie is actually better than a book? Same with IT, which was also not done by Stephen King or Misery. Books were a lot better.
  17. I might be interested. Robert, what else do you offer?
  18. Nope, quite far from the Netherlands
  19. No Nick, No Harry, Sorry guys Time for a hint; It is European, from a unexpected builder.
