  1. To unpack, my comment was “some” of the ideas I found would have been better with the amt kit as it has the option to build stock, that was a line of reasoning for an amt kit. But those were ideas only. Some of the stock parts are in themselves cool to me, like the stock bumpers and the the stock tail lights. But I’m working with what I have on hand so the revell kit is the way I’ll go. I do like the chopped top and the simplicity of the assembly for the frame. It’s a lot more pluses than the old Amt kit for sure. Does that clarify it Jim? Sorry didn’t mean to scare old fellas this early in the day might throw them off their geritol.?
  2. That’s some nice looking paint John.
  3. Some of the ideas were closer to stock, so the amt kit would have been a better start.
  4. Jim I’ll do my best to make this build something that would come off my bench. I have a couple of non kit things that should be different. I’ve found some ideas online, though some of those would have better to start with the amt kit.
  5. I wish I had more cool parts to address some of those custom ideas. My custom skills are not that well formed. Let’s just say I’ll be using what comes in the box. I do like the make pipes idea though
  6. Jim in all seriousness it’s going to be a nice shade of… tap to see more nah just playin it’s a secret
  7. No Jim it’s not a secret, it’s
  8. Thank you brian, I usually don’t have this much area to cover, so I wanted to be extra cautious
  9. Thanks Jim, I was kinda sceptical at first but I do like the look, it will be a great compliment to the exterior I think.
  10. Haven’t decided yet, I do have both sets primed though l.
  11. Round 2 of primer went much better I’m way more pleased with the results. Decided to jump ahead and get the two tone interior in paint. I think the two colours will be a nice contrast to the exterior paint I have chosen.
  12. Jim I think the yellow would clash with any colour I’d pick hahaha.
  13. Nice resurrection Bob!
  14. Nice highboy Paul, looks sharp in black.
  15. Thank you David, I'm pleased with how it turned out.
  16. First shot of primer to check the progress of the separation mark cleanup the rear along the trunk is the worst. Back to the sanding
  17. Well Robert that’s kinda the whole premise of this. Lol.
  18. Indeed, or maybe I just read it wrong I don’t have any noisy chicken models in the stash. I’m gonna need some clarification on that yeller engine there Jim
  19. Thanks Bob, I’ll try to make it not mediocre
  20. Thanks David, I’ll just go with the small displacement as it will fit the early 60’s theme.
  21. The thought of a flathead had crossed my mind, but the FE was as a more era correct choice for this one. And I stand corrected on the year, the internet lied to me!
  22. After some parts box searching I have come up with an engine soloution! We will have a Ford/Mercury drivetrain after all. Found a spare engine in the leftover parts AMT 1960 Starliner kit I did a year or so back, so my Merc will be powered by an Early FE as they went into production cars in 1959. That’s puts in the 60’s era for a custom. So much for box stock hahahahha. The auto trans was pirated from the AMT 31 Willys with the big block cammer ford. I think it would represent a C6( please correct me if I have erred).
  23. First surgery, removing the battery from the engine bay, like I mean what customizer would leave that chunk of ugly in a clean engine bay?
  24. @Kit Karson looking really sharp my friend. I’d like to see it all in primer to get a real visual feel for it. It’s knockout as is though.
  25. Ok I started with cleaning up the mold lines and seams on the body first? That consumed some time( I was also doing research on colours and engines) while the whole ohv caddy in a merc intrigues me I’m not a fan of it not being ford powered.
