  1. Interesting...thanks Richard. A couple of years back I talked to Hank Borger about his and Bill Coulter's all time best kit award (as described in Hank's Scrap Box column in one of the last ever issued of Car Model (c. 1974 or so.)), Hank mentioned that his "runner up" choice just behind the Jo-Han Turbine (the kit that Hank and Bill ultimately decided was the all time best) was AMT's 1963 Impala annual kit. So all you guys that respect that kit, several very respected voices in the model car journalism world seem to agree....TIM
  2. Thanks Alan for weighing in with the latest developments....I was hoping you would do so. Congrats on the transition and best wishes for future events....TIM
  3. NNL South Africa still has a website IIRC, the NNL Austraila event morphed somewhat from what I remember and now uses a different event name, but ti's still very big for the Aussies from what I recall....TIM
  4. Vince....I remember you from those days but didn't see your name on the list for NNL West #2....now I know why....thanks for clarifying the link....Cheers....TIM..
  5. The Ball Stud Hemi engine program is a fascinating part of Mopardom and we got a lot closer to having this engine hit actual production (probably for the 1972 model year) than most. Sadly, the collapse of the muscle car market in 1970 1/2 and beyond, usurious insurance rates on musclecars, and the fallout of the Muskie Emissions Bill made the project irrelevant. I've been building a file on Ball Stud Hemis for several decades....still want to build a model of the stillborn 1972 Charger R/T (yes, there was to be a '72 R/T and I have the MPC decal sheet (for their '72 Dodge Promos) to prove it). It would be powered by the Ball Stud Hemi and also include the up and over rear trunk spoiler for the '71 Charger that was cancelled for production at the last minute but included in MPC's original 1971 Charger annual kit... Good Luck on your project, Vi. TIM
  6. I purchased and received mine from Ed a couple of weeks ago. Excellent bodywork by Dennis and high quality casting by Ed/Drag City. Highly, highly recommended. And Dennis...is that a Y-Block I see hiding under the hood of your project car? Excellent choice! TIM
  7. Here's something from the guys that run the NNL South Africa....they asked me to prepare a one=pager on how the NNL started...and they typeset it (note the international spelling of "Modelling" and posted in on their website as the following...
  8. the INNL #2, Fall 1983, hosted by Tom Woodruff.....wait a second...I NNL? Yes, International NNL....wherein Tom invited some of his pen pals from around the world, including Paulo Valchi of Italy, to stop by and enjoy a mini-NNL event....how cool is that?
  9. NNL "T's and A's" event in Columbus in summer, 1984(?), hosted by Tom Dillion....
  10. A long forgotten NNL....# 4 1/2, the Stovebolt Reunion, held in Ann Arbor, Michigan in January, 1982....
  11. The Invite for the NNL #4 in Toledo Ohio in October, 1981. This was the infamous event with the Merc-Deuce Reunion. In my view, it is the event that in many ways set the pattern for all the NNL's that have taken place around the world since then....TIM
  12. With the last ever NNL Nats coming up in a couple of weeks, wanted to post some historic NNL Invites I found in a file. I'll start with the NNL West, then move on to the NNL Nats....ready? OK, here we go... A color picture of the original pasted-up invite for the NNL West #1 in October, 1982....PS - those phone numbers don't work any more...! A color picture of the original pasted-up invite for the NNL West #2 in January, 1983... And....a copy of the invitee list and conference room arrangements for NNL West #2.....isn't it amazing how many of these guys are still active in the hobby today? Stay tuned for more...TIM
  13. Howard......that is too cool! The chances of that happening are what....1 in a million (or higher???) As far is the ICMA, I recall my membership number being 5053.....TIM
  14. Agree! Yes, this is a really good, comprehensive article. I never realized there were two different sets of door sheet metal on the '61-'63 pickups.....all the detail is there in the article. Plus the full story on just how different most of the 4x4's were from the other Ford pickups those years.
  15. IMHO, a project like this would be a better fit for Moebius these days, for all the reasons you state. I would bet that the wood masters for the Monogram 1/24th Super Bee were discarded decades ago. Obviously, I'd love to see a 1968 Coronet R/T and /or SuperBee as well, and I also agree that it is one of the more obvious holes right now in the model company kit coverage of the first muscle car era. TIM
  16. Thanks for the update, Dave. Much appreciated, and yes, we will continue to be patient as well as appreciative of your e continued efforts to resolve the issue! TIM
  17. Robert...wondered about that myself....yours looks great! Thanks for posting....TIM
  18. What can I say that hasn't already been said? Love the attention to detail, the thoroughly correct period parts and paint, and that Nailhead V8 looks great under the hood. Primo! TIM
  19. Very, very sharp! Hope Tom Woodruff gets a gander at this one. Congrats....TIM
  20. Don't worry...the annual kit 409 four barrel carries over into the new kit...TIM
  21. Yep....I should have mentioned that. TIM
  22. Nicely done pad printed narrow whitewalls....TB
