  1. I don't have that kit here in front of me, but I did find a photo of the '59... which your kit is based upon, I believe... It appears that those hinges are for 'static' display... used if you want to leave the hood in the open position permanently. I don't think they were ever meant to have any sort of actual function. Many builders will display with the hood off the car for easier viewing.

Nice! Nice enough to sell the kit! Now I need to buy one!
  3. Derrick, nice build! If you ever have warp problems, try clamping it as the glue cures. One of my favorite clamps is the ol' wooden cloths pin. Do they even make those anymore? Oh, I also like the couple behind the car. Not only do they add character, but I like that they are NOT in every photo!
  4. PFD could refer to: A personal flotation device. Primary flight display. Probability of Failure on Demand. Process flow diagram. Philadelphia Fire Department (amongst other towns & cities that begin with the letter “Pâ€). Plot Forwarding Device. Public Facilities District. Should we have a Public forum debate on the topic?
  5. Sure! Send them about $25. plus s&h, and they will send new decals, and throw in everything else in the box for free!
  6. Hmmm... new decals? That changes everything. Even if I need to make my own w/shield banner... that's why God created the computer printer!
  7. My odometer doesn't lie to me. But it does tend to be quite sarcastic.
  8. Yeahhhhh..... riiiight!
  9. Cannot answer that, but I can help others see exactly what kit you are talking about.
  10. Wow... an organization that looks for excuses to NOT let people to join? Hey, it may be your last communication with a real dinosaur... 'cause they will surely go extinct! They are NOT helping the hobby grow. Anyhow, welcome to MCMMB! We are a friendly bunch (most of the time)... well, at least I think we have all had our shots and stuff.
  11. If you substitute the words "Train", and "Locomotive" with the word "Car"... (audio) http://www.theonion.com/audio/modeltrain-hobby-becomes-modeltrain-habit,18162/
  12. That's just not fair. At least stick a traffic light in the middle.
  13. Dave, keep that fighting spirit alive! You will be facing big changes in your life, but you will find a way to persevere! Even in this hobby of ours, you can find a way to adapt. Good luck man. Give it H e l l !
  14. But Harry, I believe you are on record as never having attended a model contest. You should go... after all, you just may end up enjoying it.
  15. Let's be reasonable here. In 99.5% of model kits, paint is not included either, but that is allowed! As it should be! Ditto on BMF.... it is now accepted in the hobby as THE way of adding chrome trim. Anything else... flocking, ignition wires, engine swaps... that just circumvents the intent of the category.
  16. I like it... but then again, as a car slut I like most of 'em. That is how I would have built it. Wheels and stance are good. Yeah, the trunk could have been shortened in length, but with a lot more work. That would have been preferrable to lengthening the roof tho.
  17. Hey... I like it! Just the right amount of weathering. You did it right by opening that grille.
  18. Webster's definition of irony!
  19. It's a model, so the builder/owner can enter it if they want. Of course, temper that against the fact that most, if not any and all contest judges are not going to be fooled. No contest judge is going to give a pre-painted metal model high marks for finish, if they know it was painted in a factory. It's a 'checks & balances' situation. Even the best model from one of the 'Mints' won't get high grades for finish, no matter how it looks, if they know it was pre-painted. At least that's how it should be imho.
  20. Custom van! Nice chop & section! The wheel/tire size is a little much for my taste, but it's not my model! Hope you keep on truckin' (*>~groan!~<*) with this build.
  21. Jerry, thanks! I am going to print that out. I miss my PrintMaster Deluxe program, so I don't make my own calandars any more... and your page rocks!
  22. OK, I know little about R/C cars, but I do know most everything on FeeBay is "RARE" and "MINT". These sellers need to know, just because they say so, doesn't mean it's true. Buyer beware.
  23. I really like BMF. It's the difference between building a toy, vs. a scale model. Trimming it along an edge can be tricky, but every now and then, when doing a long thin trim with parrallel edges such as a side moulding, I just cut a length to width, and apply it like a pinstripe tape.
  24. Nice retractable! Is the Gunze kit the 1/32 I remember?
