  1. Stunning Sports! The Lotus looks good in white w/ gold stripes, and the classic Ferrari's... well, what's not to love?!!!
  2. Wow! That is one nice Imperial! Kato would approve!

Lee, I am puzzled with your VW. I believe the taillights should be mounted flush from the outside. They appear, as far as I can see, to be mounted from the inside. Otherwise, the car looks good with a nice paintjob.
  4. I paint on the sprue, as long as the attachment point won't be a problem later on. If the part is to be painted black, I may use a Sharpie marker instead of paint. Sometimes the part must be removed b4 painting. No matter when it comes off the sprue, the mold lines must be cleaned up. I still need to work more on that.
  5. Coathanger paint stand. Cut the tip of the "hook" off, and spread the two wires apart. That forms the two feet. Turn it over, shape the longer wires to hold the body. I like to use a small vise-grip to form the third leg, making it a tri-pod. That way it can stand on its own.
  6. Real cla$$y lookin' car!
  7. Real sharp lookin' build!
  8. That DOES look nice! You might want to check if the Modelhaus has those taillights.

    My Avanti

I agree with you both on the bland nature of some cars. Some people just want an appliance... a machine to go from here to there. Put it on 'Spin Cycle' and go. That is why there are cars like the Camrey, which Jalopnik has dubbed "beige", as in "bland".
  10. I was blown away at all the things to see in Vegas. Check out the NY, NY casino… its like walking through a slightly downsized NYC, has its own Central Park, Chrysler Building, Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty, Tugboats spraying a plume of water in the harbor, and…. Its very own Coney Island Roller Coaster, which goes both inside (over Central Park), and outside! And that is just ONE casino! If you cannot find something to do besides feed the one-arm bandits, you may need to check yourself for a pulse! Go to Google and search things to see Las Vegas. I had also thought Oh no… Vegas! What do I do once I am broke? So I planned on only a three day stay. Big mistake! I could have spent a week! I never even made it to their downtown district. Go! Enjoy!
  11. They have to put chain link across the windows? >~*culture shock*~<
  12. John, Another fantastic home run build! Nice model Vette F/C! But I have noticed a pattern with your pics.... rarely a photo of the front! This time you did catch the car's nose, with the body up. Yet, many pics from rear corner, or the side. We hope to see the front of these builds too!
  13. This is discouraging info. Sleazy people everywhere. In spite of that, I would still enter a contest or an NNL. But, NOT one at a hobby shop, for the reasons listed above. One overnight b&e, and the model is gone. No thanks. Full disclosure- I did once enter a hobby shop contest, but I was friends with the owner and his one employee (they didn't do the judging), and they had an alarm, coupled with the fact that crime is relatively low around here.
  14. "The Strip" is CRAZY TRAFFIC! Do NOT try to cross unless in a crosswalk, sign says "CROSS", and be in a large pack of tourists... so they cushion the impact from the psycho drivers. Yeah, it's hot.... but it's a dry heat.
  15. I wonder if someone was to rub it with an ultra-fine steel wool, would that help the shine? I always thought just burnishing down the foil after trimming helps bring out some shine. Also, make sure you have the Chrome foil, not the dull aluminum stuff.
  16. I'm busted on this one. Looks like a dumpling with wheels. Probably goes like one too.
  17. FREE DRINKS from scantily-clad cocktail waitress! I wuz there in the late-eightees, first day there, I was pawing through the phone book looking for hobby shops. I found one on Trop. Ave. When I got home, I called them to ask about a model I saw, bought it over the phone. I don't know if it is still there. Good luck, happy hunting! Oh, one more thing... FREE DRINKS from scantily-clad cocktail waitress!
  18. I believe you are correct Jim. It seems to be better in large scale. I have some 1/25 scale alloy wheels for an 80's vintage Jeep GW that were "printed". Sadly, it does have a grainy texture. I need to order the Jeep from RMR so I can try out those wheels. I do not know who printed them, got them from a source here on the board.
  19. Not everyone has access to a camera, or a photo hosing site, nor knowledgeable on the uploading process. I too like seeing photos, it sure helps (I strongly believe in the old addage "A picture is worth a thousand words").
  20. That is one fine Caddy! I have it but never opened. If it's a classic Caddy, I like it. That Healey looks more "involved" than I thought it would. I wouldn't mind building both.
  21. Gregg- I have a bunch of Mustang pics in my Fotki album, first page at link below: http://public.fotki.com/JCole/model_car_shows/misc_model_contests/page46.html Only thing is, they are not mine. I just like to collect photos of great looking models. BTW, they are listed alphabetically by title. Each page until this page link below should have ‘Stangs: http://public.fotki.com/JCole/model_car_shows/misc_model_contests/page50.html From pages 46, to page 50. Happy hunting.
  22. If I read your last paragraph correctly, you want to know how to do the black window surrounds on modern windows? Try Sharpie type permanant ink markers. make your lines on the inside of the glass. Follow the raised edge on the window. If there is no raised edge, mask out each edge. Perhaps try this first on a scrap window.
  23. Before you go any further, would you mind shipping that to Revell so they can use it for a master?! Man, I'd love to have a kit of it! Keep up the good work!
