  1. Harold, I know how difficult that can be... just lost my little buddy in November. It sucks to lose a friend and family member. I am sorry for your loss.
  2. Perhaps some don't realize that these threads have TWO ways to reply? Each post has its own "Reply" button. Or, go all the way down to the bottom of the threads, and there is a "Add reply" button. The first way recycles the entire content of the post in your reply. The second way, is just your reply. No recycled photos or text included. FWIW
  3. Another thing I like to do is use the side of the felt tip of a Sharpie marker to edge a headlight lens (before assembly). I think it gives depth to the look.
  4. I don't have enough spare headlights. I wish we could get someone in the aftermarket to clear cast a bunch of headlights. I tried finding photos that I could trim, size, and print. Still need to work on this. The idea would be to cut them out (first cover with shiny Scotch Magic Tape) and glue in place. Funny cars have "printed" headlights, and look convincing. The item below has some hope for headlight, the trim ring is "okay". And of course, MV lenses.
  5. Finish exterior bodywork, apply first prime coat. If there is a headliner, mask exterior; spray headliner in flat color. Wet-sand and prime exterior final coats after first masking inside body. Prep & spray all exterior. Once fully cured, use medium size brush to paint inside body flat black. The idea is to "hide" things like inner fenders, you don't want the eyes drawn to these areas. On a Nascar body, spray the inside Gloss Gull Grey, when cured, prep, prime, and spray exterior.
  6. Testors Chrome paint. Try first touching a spot of Gloss Black, and then when cured to the touch, use the Chrome. Some say the black makes the chrome effect better. As an example, the black before chrome layer is a must with Alclad Chrome; if it's good for Alclad, it should be good for touchup.
  7. Isn't that the truth?! Some fool has an "old toy" that looks like it spent the last decade rattling around inside a box of sandpaper, and thinks they can get a fortune for it! If I had a dime for every time this happened!
  8. I want to thank whoever gave us the heads-up earlier in the month on the Dupli-Color sale at Advance Auto Parts. I stopped in yesterday, it's "buy one, get one free" on their 12 oz. full size cans of Primer. I bought a Hot Rod Gray, and a White. I may stop back to get some Red Oxide... the sale ends at the end of the month.
  9. When I saw this pic, I thought the left front wheel/tire was sheared off! That tire is some camo'd!
  10. Jimmy is a kool guy, and we get good resin at a great price! Possibility of the "split personality" type? Hmmmm... can't you just smell that fresh resin? Now you gotta wipe that nose print off your screen!!! Last photo courtesy our own Pat Redmond!
  11. I guess it is a model
  12. >- GRIN! -< Now to help you choose a backdrop...
  13. I like this! In fact, I am saving some chassis plumbing pics for reference! Two thumbs up!
  14. Rodney, that looks way good! BUT.... will it crawl the mall?
  15. Nice build Mike. The wheels seem to have a slightly different shade... how did you do that?
  16. Boy is that a thing of beauty!
  17. I recently found on my desk a 2004 copy of Automobile magazine (yes, it is possible to find a six year old mag buried on my desk!) and the cover story was "The 100 Coolest Cars". I was puzzled that they named the Citroen DS in the top ten (or close to) I confess to lack of being informed on the car, but still it struck me as funny.
  18. I have primarily used Google Image, and E-Bay Motors. That in turn leads to my Fotki albums, because photos on the internet may be there today, yet not necessarily tomorrow. I have catagories for almost every brand of vehicle, and most albums have hundreds, if not thousands of pics. Most photos are captioned by make, year, model. Many of the albums are then arranged by title (the default is upload date). This in turn makes finding a photo of a certain year easier. Of course, captioning every photo takes time. I have also indexed my magazine in Excel, but I let that go years ago. Sadly due to overcrowding in my hobby room, some of those mags may end up at the landfill.
  19. Only way I can work with photo etch is under a mag goose-neck lamp. It's one of the best investments you can make.
  20. I agree. I just Google'd these images... Well, that didn't go too well. Sorry 'bout that. I tried to capture direct from Google, but I guess that didn't work. Guess I should have saved them to my photo host.
  21. Gotta love Mini mods (as opposed to Mini Me's) Hope you can get the photography thing down... if we had clearer pics it would go a long ways.
  22. Woooh! One of the most awesome F-bodies... the F-BOMB! I lust for that beast! I'm not a numbers person, I don't need numbers... I just know it's Bad-Azz!
  23. Some make their own mask. I have used acrylic paint on the inside of the window (my hands are not steady enough) but I have better luck using a Sharpie Permanent Ink marker, again on the inside edge. I freehand the edge only when necessary. I use a non-slip ruler when possible. Staples office supply sells flexible rulers in their drafting supply section.
  24. You sure Virg didn't help you with the rust? It's that good! Like those pock marks in the back of the cab... nice stuff!
