  1. I think you did REAL good on this! It has the look! Are those defroster lines I see in the rear glass? Those are hard to replicate!
  2. Peter, Your Art Deco Aero Coupe is a masterpiece! I will look forward to seeing this (I hope) at the NNL East!
  3. This has to be one of the best P4's I have ever seen built! Stunning! And those rivets! How did you apply them?
  4. BUG BOMB! Can't go wrong with that!
  5. A common error on these Fords, the 'A' pillar should be chrome. Lucky it is easy to correct. I really like that fogged paint!
  6. Great tip, Daniel. Question- in the drawing, it appears you modified the tip of the hypo needle to form a auger point that will be offset from the center. I assume this assembly will work by the drill tip finding the center, and the "auger" will spin on the center axis. Is this correct?
  7. Like Bill said, just add plastic on the edge! What could be easier? You DO have plastic sheet, yes? That is just one supply every builder should have... styrene sheet in various thicknesses. I cut out a trunk on a '57 Ford using the back of a #11 blade, added the inner lip to the opening on the body for the trunk lid to rest on (one more reason to have plastic sheet on hand), then placed the trunk back in position... yep... gap is too big. Cut a piece of plastic, glue it to the trunk lid edge. When cured, I used the moto tool to take the excess 99% down, and finished it off with a sanding stick. I think it takes more work for me to type this out than to actually fill the gap! EDIT: BTW, in theory, on a four- sided body panel, you should need to add sheet stock to two of the four edges. I think adding plastic to all four edges would make the fit too tight.
  8. Terry, all nice Porsche cars. My two favorites would be the 917 longtail, and the 550 "LB". I would love to do a model of Dean's car. Thought I could do that with the resin from Jimmy Flintstone, but I couldn't find a reasonably priced 356 Fujimi or Testors donor kit, so I sold it. Hope you finish that one... and please make some windows for the "very early" '39 Porsche! You are sooo close! Good luck!
  9. Jason, your dad does fine work! Do you have any pics from a front angle?
  10. Thanks all for all this great info! Ironically I just made my own control arm ends, I was thinking I could use them for a mount at one end. The rod is 1/16" the hole I drilled is #68 drill bit. When I go to the NNL East I may look at the stuff that RB Motion has.
  11. Darin, This is looking like museum quality build. And I have to applaud anyone who can build over twenty models of one particular car! I'd say that qualifies you as the resident Cobra expert!
  12. Way cool Porsche projects Darin! That Speedster sure looks familiar... PORSCHE Carrera Panamericana. It was built as a showcar & as a present for Herr Porsche's birthday in 1989.
  13. Man, it would be a shame to hide that beaut of a four banger inside a car!
  14. Nice muscle car!
  15. Would make a neat gasser!
  16. I did defroster lines once. Doubt I will try that again, a real pita. I laid down a piece of Scotch tape, and colored it with a brown marker. Then using a new #11 blade and a metal straight edge, start cutting ultra thin pinstripes. Eventually I got one stripe to lay down where I wanted it. I did get the window done eventually. Wish I had a pic. Can be done tho.
  17. "This one is nowhere near good enough for a contest, but it got the idea out of my head, and it takes a good picture, so I'm satisfied." Mike, Don't underestimate yourself. Many a contest win happens to a model the builder thought didn't have a chance! We all know our own mistakes, but not so for judges, they have to find it on their own. Besides, the "WOW!" factor on that is over the top!
  18. I finished this one last week. This one got me thru some long boring days waiting for the fibula to heal. It is a Revell Pro Finish. I did the grill with a Sharpie Industrial marker as I couldn't get to my paints. I did have some Detailer black, I used it to tone down the wheels.
  19. This topic started with a pic of a Hummer stage coach. Me'es says it was in the toilet from the get-go! No disrespect to the person posting that pic. Speaking of toilets... Limos? Rented at "Pimps 'r Us" no doubt! Bling. Bling. Next one is self explanatory: Hummer disabled by a pebble:
  20. I don't know. I was lucky, they had my color!
  21. I like the H1. The H2 & H3 are nothing more than Hummer wannabe's, courtesy GM designed for increased sales. Someone here posted that Hummer should have stayed a niche model. I agree. In 2004 a local Classic Rock station gave a refurbished Humvee away. It was crude, no doors, but it did have a $5000 stereo system. Oh I wanted that thing sooo bad! They qualified 125 listeners, I was one of them. The number I drew... only two numbers off. I was that close! THIS is who I lost it to... Like she knew what the heck to do with it!
  22. The number one reason to own a Hummer H1: TRAFFIC JAMS!
  23. I have one pair of coil overs from R&D Unique, but I need 4. How do you make them? I suspect the springs wouldn't be too hard to find (ball point pens), but the rest? I have K&S aluminum rod in 1/16, 3/32, and 1/8" I also have some plastic rod. I don't however have a lathe.
  24. Heh! Heh! Yeah, it is! Guess I got carried away. Or it's Alzheimers. Anyway, I deleted it. Ya gotta love a msg. board that lets us edit and delete our stuff! Can't do that on Spotlight!
