  1. As has been stated ad nauseum, foreign vs. domestic is almost now impossible to define in the 21st century. No sense tickling a dead fish. So how about this… cars, vs. appliances? Our Subaru Baja, based on the Outback, has all the soul and emotion of a washing machine. Just like our Honda CR-V before it. The point of origin in this case is irrelevant. Both “American†and “foreign†produce cars with attitude and emotion, as well cars that are little more than a machine to transport people from point A to point B. Plus, you can’t really miss what you have never had. I have driven a Corvette, but that was back in the mid-eightees. Nor was I able at the time to wring it out. That was so long ago, I have little recollection of how it drove, only the memory of the grin it put on my face. But then again, it was a Corvette! Now I own a Passat W8 4motion. Fantastic car. By far, the best I have ever owned. Handles like it’s on rails. Compared to the Japanese cars I have driven, I would never go back. It’s all about… soul, vs. appliance.
  2. Each side of the axle has 2 bars, or "links" that are roughly parallel to the frame.
  3. I have very few reference pics.
  4. Scale Motorsport has a good selection of decals... http://store.scalemotorsport.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=sm&Category_Code=DECALS
  5. I bet if you don't mention the 'color issue' to anyone looking at your model, they will never notice. You notice it (I suspect) because you have the means to do an actual visual comparison. I also like to mention that I have never seen anyone at a model car show with a book of color paint chips.
  6. Good news! And more new stuff to look forward to!
  7. That's the cleanest, slickest, sharpest 'Mino I think I have ever seen in scale! Something I thought not possible with straight "B" pillars. Thank God they're not vertical. Wrong era. Great model! Great pics!
  8. I'm going to guess that you want to change the size of a pic. I prefer: http://www.picresize.com/
  9. Sometimes, the board needs a little jolt...
  10. So true. A #60-#80 drill bit set, and a pin vise are so valuable in model building!
  11. New cars. Older cars. Love one... hate the other. Hate...hate...hate. IMHO, a real car guy appreciates each era for what it is, and what it was. And using descriptions like "hate" for a car... just seem silly; again, imho. Everything has a time and purpose, and so does progress.
  12. The Missouri tornado has been named the worse tornado since 1950. I am bewildered by the raw power and destruction. What is even creepier is the number of deadly tornados in the US is up from previous years. Then you start thinking about all the other natural disasters… not only tornados, but massive flooding, earthquakes, and wildfires. We even had snow and ice storms that were beyond the norm. Perhaps there is no perfect solution. Perhaps “flimsy†2x4 wood constructions should give way to steel beams. Do we need to live in bunkers just to survive nature?
  13. Oh, that looks so right! Nice job!
  14. Must agree, this is nice! If I saw it last year, I must have forgot. But then again, I can't remember... this morning.
  15. Probably a model.
  16. I printed this info out, and took it to my local hobby vendor. "Order me a few sets!"
  17. Steve- I may be in my mid fiftees, perhaps my eyes aren't what they used to be. But I have enlarged that photo by 50%, and I see no mid pillar. And yet, they all had them(?) The car appears to be 100% stock, so why would a chrome trimmed post be painted black? That makes me wonder if the photo of the blue '61 is a pre-production car. Because the converts had the pillarless door post, Lincoln would have had the part to build one. 1961 was the fist year of that body style.
  18. Yeah... one web site is reporting that the radio station those fools run... has gone silent. Well, did you see how old their preacher-leader is? Maybe HIS rapture arrived!
  19. I had a 15% off coupon for the local hobby store, so I went in with the plan to buy this... ...but instead I bought this:
  20. WoW! That is odd, even for 1974 standards. Did it have a wood stove under the dash for winter heat?
  21. YeaA! 158 just arrived in the mailbox! And... in fine shape, too! I did the 'flip-thru', looks good so far. Jairus' "Sketch Pad" was the usual "WoWzers! I may read it today @ work. And since I drive for a living, that may be awkward.
  22. I just want my #158. Has everyone recieved theirs yet? I did lapse the subscription, but the renewal was sent weeks ago. Wondering if I should go hunting at the one remaining bookstore for it?
  23. Photos? Not good photos. Screen shots.
  24. Actually, Charlie, I first saw it on Boston Ch. 7
  25. In a few of those pics, there is a low concrete wall. Hitting that, plus the motorcycle must have sent the Sebring into the '32 "A" body, vs. hitting it @ ground level. No matter... it sucks.
