Zippi replied to Just Jim's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial

Awesome looking build Mike. Great detail work. Nicely done.
-
That is a different take on a 55 Chevy Alex. Pretty kewl looking, I'm liking it.
-
I hear ya Carl. I'm going to take a look at kit engine and I have some other 3D printed engines as well as a bunch of flatheads bagged up.
-
Thanks man. I think it could be the kit is a little on the small side and the engine is a little on the big side. Maybe I can fit this engine in my 41 Willy's??? Don't know about the doors, they seem to be the same. On the hunt for another engine.
-
I hear ya man. It is insane. Going to have to find another engine Thanks. Yeah, there seems to be a lot of issues with this kit. I'm trying to get this one built but it's fighting me the whole way so far.
-
Just did a trial fit of the Ardun Flathead V8 I got from Texas 3D Custom. Man....this engine is a monster. Not sure if I can even get the headers on. That is as low as it will go without cutting into the body.

Well...I've spent the better part of the morning just cleaning flash and parting lines the best I could do. This is a 1991 release and I've gotta tell ya, these tools are past wore out. This is without a doubt the worst kit I've ever worked on. I thought the Revell 1941 Willy's (1963 release) kit was bad, this one is a little worse. I've decided to go with the stock grille. Both the stock and custom grilles do not look or fit very good but the stock one is going to need less work. I'm starting to loose steam on this one.
-
Thanks Carl. I've also got an old Revell 41 Willy's Gasser I'm playing around with on the side. A ton of flash and parting lines and bad fitting parts. Don't we love it.

Yeah Buddy. Well...I'm the man for the job is yet to be seen.

It's sure giving me some grief DJ. I did try some small files the first time around with no success.
-
Thanks man. The ole iconic red 57 Chevy. Can't beat um. Much obliged Mario. I appreciate the kind words.
-
I hear ya Greg. At this point I'm just trying to get a straight line and make it look not so noticeable.
-
Thanks David. Yeah, that flatty is pretty kewl.

I am back on this kit again trying to get the body lines on the side to look acceptable. This is the 3rd time I have filled the area where the top and bottom body part glue together. This time instead of Spru Goo I filled the line in with the Extreme Power (Medium) glue that I use. I used the back of my #11 blade and a scribe to try and recreate the body line. It's better than it was before. You fellows think it looks exceptable? I also have an Ardun Flathead V8 from Texas 3D Customs that I'd like to drop in the business end. The wheels & tires are from Jay's Resin Wheels 1948 on ebay.
