  1. Thanks Bob.
  2. Thanks Kyle. I'm going to let this set for a few days before I start wet sanding.
  3. I sent Splash Paints a message about cure time on their paint and got a quick response. I was told that 2 hrs cure time was more than sufficient. I let it set for 24 hrs before I started. I left my compressor set at 21 psi (about 17-18 working psi) and mixed the 2K Urethane and catalyst at 3:1. I started out shooting my test spoon to see just how much clear was coming out. I then started out with a tack coat and let it flash for 5 min. I followed that with two wet coats letting it flash 5 min between coats. The test spoon really helped because when Splash Paints says wet coats they mean WET coats. I had to really lay it down heavy to get that wet look I was looking for like I do when I airbrush my Tamiya X-22 clear. I got a little trash in the clear so I'll have to do some wet sanding after the clear has cured out for 72 hrs per Splash Paints recommendation. Overall I'm satisfied with the Splash Paints products. We'll see once it has cured out and I can wet sand and polish it out.
  4. Nice looking Mustang James. I used the XF-21 Sky on my 50 Chevy pickup build.
  5. This is really starting to take shape.
  6. That's looking pretty good so far Michael. I've been playing around with this kit on the side.
  7. That's turning into a good looking Hot Rod.
  8. Thanks. Yup, love the red.
  9. Thanks man. Good looking 57.
  10. Thanks. Just a beautiful paint to spray.
  11. The results are in. I did some paint test on some spoons first. I tried light, med, and heavy coats. Didn't seem to make any difference. Very, very nice paint to spray. I had my compressor set at 20 psi so the working psi was about 17-18 psi. I let it flash for about 5 min between coats and I gave it 3 coats. Kinda has the egg shell look to it. Can't wait to get some clear on this. Looks like it works pretty good with the Tamiya White Surface Primer. I used about 3/4 of the bottle. I'm a happy camper so far.
  12. Really kewl looking 60 Ford Starliner. The color combo looks super nice. That's a lot of eye candy going on right there. Well done.
  13. Really kewl looking.
  14. Nice
  15. Thank's. Yes Sir, my 49 Chevy pickup Restomod is a GM Bright Red. Thank's man. Yeah, those wheels & tires just were not going to get it.
  16. Nice looking Ford there Freddy.
  17. Thanks man. I kinda stumbled on the start with a few issues but I'm on cruise control now.
  18. Welcome back Tim. I had a truck painted by Earl Scheib back in the day.
  19. I will post pics of the results of the spoon test. Well, it's about time to drag that kit out and start on it don't ya think?
  20. The weather took a turn for the better this afternoon so I took advantage of it and got after the primer. This is the paint I'll be using. First time using Splash Paints. There website say 20-25 psi and most of the videos I've watched say anywhere from 12-18 psi. Looks like I need to get out the spoons and do some testing.
  21. Thank's David. Much obliged there Spike.
  22. Sweet looking Luke. Love those two colors together.
  23. I pulled these out of the parts box. They need to be painted Rubber Black and detailed. The ole boy that's running this 57 puts his slicks on and heads out on Saturday nights looking for a couple races to make a few bucks.
  24. I opened the box on this 57 Hardtop about a week ago and right off the bat the deck lid was warped in the middle and the chassis was twisted. I got the chassis straightened out but the deck lid was a little more of an issue. I put the deck lid on a flat surface and pushed down in the middle then hit it with my heat gun. To much heat as you can see from the pic. I thought it was history but I worked with it and putty and sanded a lot and I think I can still use it. The 396 BB is just about completed.
  25. Welcome to the site Gilbert.
