Super clean build man. Interior looks great and nice detail work in the engine bay. I have been wanting one of the Russ Davis t-bolts and will get one down the road.

Dave, sorry to hear about your wife. The color looks great and you'll get things sorted out.

Mike, once I go over the body with the Novus 2 & 3 then I'll use my Meguair's liquid wax. That is what I use on my 49 plus the Ultimate Detailer.

Dave, That Tamiya acrylic black looks pretty sharp. What gloss are you going with over that black? The Paasche H is what I use with the same tip. Now you got me to thinking about the Tamiay arcylic paint. Haha....

I've been reading and watching video's about the Tamiya lacquer paint and how nice they look with a good wet sanding and polishing. Since I'm in the Paint testing mode I took a trip to the local hobby shop only to find out the Tamiya lacquer paint in the small bottle has not hit the US yet. The owner told me that he was sent the paint racks almost 2 years ago but has not seen any paint. He checked into it while I was there and said it's showing June or July before he would have any. I did pick up a bottle of the Novus 3 heavy scratch remover so now I have both the Novus 2 & 3 in my arsenal. I checked the 65 Impala body this morning to check for anything that may have stuck to the primer and all looks good so it will stay under the tube until time to spray. Suppose to rain all day so I'll have to wait to do any airbrushing.

Thanks for the comments man. I think I'm a little bit to much of a perfectionist. I had a 65 Malibu back in the day with the 283 and sold it to buy a 66 Mustang with a 289 High Performance engine. I learned to drive in my grandfathers 1957 Studebaker.

I keep coming back looking at your Willy's as it looks so nice. I've been on the hunt for the Big John Mazmanian version.

What type of kits do you tend to gravitate to? I grew up watching the old Gasser's drag race at the local 1/4 mile drag strip back in the 60's and 70's so that's the kits I like and the Muscle cars are right up there on the list. Just finished the 1956 Ford Truck Foose addition. Unfortunately a lot of the old cool Gasser's are the older kits and hard to find or a little pricey. My all time favorite it the Revell kit of Big John Mazmanian's 1941 Willy's Gasser. The pic of the 41 Willy's Gasser is not mine, the 56 Foose truck is mine.

Welcome to the forum. There are some empty chairs up front.

Welcome back to the hobby. I'm fairly new back into the hobby myself.

Mike. I was going for a gloss finish on the 56 but I bought the Tamiya clear instead of the gloss which I think is their TS-13.

Thanks for the nice comment Mike. I have a bottle of the Anita's Glossy red I may try first since I had trouble with the black. Just havent crossed that bridge yet.

The rain held off so I went ahead and sanded the test body of the Foose 1965 Impala and got it primed. I really like the Rush-Oleum paint. It lays down so smooth and drys fast.

Ok fellows....I shot a short video to show my working/painting conditions so when you make comments/suggestions you'll know how I paint my models. I really wish I could use one of those nice little spray booths. The only window I have to vent would be right next to my 49 so that's out of the picture. Maybe I could back my 49 out of the garage when it comes time to paint but that wouldn't work in the winter. https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipNXt3UfSNrz6VrQLfq-m1Y8DjT64Mv7F7SmCJRIvUt1SVxkWHtHlfd-2vVPMwoiLQ/photo/AF1QipNqrbL05ei46zBb2A9gwRvnZVrLeGnUVcy7fMeQ?key=Vm4xVTBJR3ZLOEpRSVZMZDRIekV2VnF4S3g2WU53

I'm thinking about for my 1st test thinning the acrylic paint with the Pledge and once the paint is dry give it a few more coats of the Pledge. Not sure if it will give it more of a shine or not. Ever try doing that?
-
Thanks for the comments guys. Ksnow....I was at Walmart looking for a note book to keep track of all my mistakes but didn't see one thick enough ☺
-
Thanks Robert that blue looks nice. I was thinking about thinning the acrylic paint with the Pledge when I saw Chris Chapman doing it in one of his videos.

Killer engine detail man.

Chaz, thanks for the link. Yeah that's pretty much the way I airbrushed my HL acrylic paint just maybe not as fast. I let mine set for 24 hrs after the paint and gloss. I'm just not sure what happened between airbrushing the Ceramcoat vs the Anita's paint. That's why I'm doing test now as like you this is pretty new to me. Thanks again dude.

Mike, I"m going to keep that one on the shelf to remind me of my early on builds and what not to do. I have figured one thing out.....the Revell kits seem to be better quality over the amt kits. Here is a pic of the finished 56 Foose truck.

NIce. I like the interior color.

Nice looking 49 coupe. What paint did you use? It looks great.
