  1. Looks promising Matt. Any thoughts on what type of primer will work good over white metal?
  2. Might as well build the Hydra Coupe from scratch with your design and 3D printing skills. Would be a shame to waste the beautiful Rolls Royce on that if only 10% of it can be reused...
  3. Really coming together beautifully. Great chassis and the integration of the tubular structure (fancy for roll cage...) looks spot on. Look forward to see the engine work, with your detailing extraordinaire standards!
  4. A real shame Randy is shutting down. I was very active on it until I switched interest to road racing type cars and joined this forum. But still it is a piece of history disappearing. The option to join on Facebook is a no go for me. I know if I... or rather when I get hacked Zuckerberg won't lift a finger to help. So I joined Tom Birky's site. Looks wonderful. One life ends, one begins...
  5. Working only part time on this one... the busy life of this retiree gets in the way sometimes... I did make a few things. Dial decals leftover form a E-type project should be perfect for this. For once I ended up achieving the color match that was in my head (among other things...). Not bright red, not burgundy. Something in between... blood red!
  6. Love to see it done the old fashioned way, scratch building everything. A rare occurrence with all the 3D printed components made available to the hobbyist. This is fun to watch!
  7. Lots to do obviously but this no doubt will be a fun project. Are you planning any extras in terms of detailing or mostly out of box?
  8. We've all seen the magic you can do with your mate's printed bodies and no doubt you will succeed again... and this one will need the full TLC treatment.
  9. I switched from camera to hand held cell phone about 3 years ago. Resolution is good enough for a forum post and the editing can be done very quickly right on the phone. Currently using iPhone XR so certainly not the latest and greatest. Just make sure you have a good lighting setup.
  10. Fascinating fabrication work, replicating Chapman's innovative design. Strange that both Lotus and Ferrari introduced F1 cars with this unique engine position solution... the same year. Perhaps a bit of industrial espionage...
  11. Extraordinary build Francois. You have proven that with with immense talent, creativity, persistence, combined with 3D printing technology, the perfect model can be crafted. The best I have ever seen, period!
  12. Wonderful build John. The decision to go with printed wheels and grille add a lot of realism to this model. Great call.
  13. Why they put these screws in escapes me. Good riddance. Any modifications on integrating the rear body and doors? I seem to recall there are design issues there with that kit.
  14. Should have thought about that but too late now. Brushing some yellow over dark green...mission impossible.
  15. Beautifully done and presented David. Such a beautiful race car and a must have on the shelf. OK now, one done, two to go!
  16. Thank you guys, feedback much appreciated. Paint came out pretty good but the picture flatters it a bit. A bit of polishing will be needed to even out the surface gloss. No brush marks though, so that's a win.
  17. So British Racing Green it is. Or at least my interpretation of it. Color mix is 50/50 Vallejo Black Green (70.980) and Dark Sea Blue (70.898). Vallejo 70.510 gloss varnish applied 2 days after color. These finishes have been brush painted. Polishing will have to wait about a week as I want that clear to fully cure and maximum adhesion to set in.
  18. Looks superb David. One of the best vintage Monogram kits in my opinion and your addition of aftermarket wheels and tires makes it even better.
  19. Having such intricate knowledge of the specifics of a car saves you tons of fabrication. These Tamiya parts appear to have good level of detail and should combine beautifully into this build. Can't have enough Jim Clark driven race cars.
  20. Aaah... yes Dave...I'm feeling OK.... I guess.... ?
  21. I love the wheels on this ride (especially to dirty bronze color). The purple body...solid or metallic? Either one works for me but may I suggest you make that purple more on the dark side. This ride is meant to look sinister and intimidating!
  22. Thanks Mark, a primer with better filling properties might have been better. Let's see what we have after some sanding and color coat...
  23. Thank you Ken. I usually try to replicate a specific moment in history (car & race) but with this one I want the freedom to put wire wheels on and choose my color, so a fictional club racer in classic British Racing Green.
  24. body primed and now proceeding to assembly fitting process
  25. Thanks Donato. I like it very much when others bring information and ideas to the table. That's what sharing a w.i.p. is all about.
