  1. Very interesting technique. Now I see it. Do you target a cleaned up barn find or plan to the just found in the barn look? Adding washes and dry pigments could do that. What a great build to follow.
  2. The engine & rear chassis has very nice weathering blended in. Looks convincing.
  3. Your chassis fabrication looks most convincing. Period picture below demonstrates the "simplify, then add lightness" quote from Chapman. Great for winning races... not so good if you crash...
  4. This flat 12 & trans combo are simply gorgeous. Such level of detailing is a must at 1:12 scale and this one nails it. Bravo!
  5. Gorgeous build so far Bruce. Your paint is always so good and the color on this one really pops. happy about the Lusso making a comeback. These two will look great side by side.
  6. An extraordinary build with a variety of materials chosen to enhance the realism to a point that the model looks full scale. The low gloss paint finish looks period perfect for a race car, the amazing wire wheels and the real leather seat... I could go on and on. Bravo!
  7. Fantastic technique on the driver "composition" and fabrication. I learned a lot watching how you pulled that off. I'm surprised you can remove and reinstall the driver as a whole from such a confined cockpit. Quite a feat.
  8. Thanks Phil. The wind screens are kit parts, all molded clear. Glass part is too thick and I wanted to fabricate something different but ran out of motivation and just used the kit parts. Thank you Alex. Thinking I should add a hood leather strap as many of these had them. Thank you Carl Thank you David
  9. I love it Tommy. Your "hardware store" clear must have some special sauce in it as the finish you accomplished is impeccable. I love gr 5 racers and this Stratos finds a way to look unique among it's peers.
  10. How wonderful that you have decided to jump in with a WIP of this wonderful race car. WIPs are my favorites because of the exchanges made possible between participants as the work progresses. So many learning opportunities. You have a fun challenge with this one as decisions have to be made about what the kit offers and what the real car looked like through it's life (looks like it evolved a lot) and of course what level of modifications are doable. This will be fun to follow and I am rooting for you. Go for it my friend!
  11. Looks really good. What a joy to watch.
  12. Thanks Bill. Thank you sir. Is the Matra done and I missed the grand unveiling? Thanks for stopping by Steve, your comments are much appreciated.
  13. Gorgeous detailing and mix of colors and finishes. I love how you simulated weld beads.
  14. Great historical car and the trans kit looks formidable. Please post regular updates. This is definitely one to follow.
  15. Thank you Daniel. It's a bit oversized but looks well integrated when looking at the build as a whole. It's following at all your fabrication that encourages me to try some of it.
  16. Thanks John. Very little detailing with this one but I believe enough to give it a bit of realism.
  17. Awesome and very creative. Brings back memories of 35 mm photography before the digital & photoshop changed everything.
  18. Thank you Mark. My lighting setup makes the paint looks a bit better than it is. Other than the metal body challenges this was a great kit and a stress free build. Thank you Chris Yes, the little upgrades add interest to what started as a pretty good kit. I like old Monogram kits, simple yet so well engineered. Thanks Noel, I really like turning 50s or 60s road car kits into race cars, just like so many enthusiasts did with the real cars. Thank you for noticing Ken. I always try to add some level of weathering to the underside of my cars. I think it does add a dose of realism. Thank you Tony. If I could find more driver figures all my builds would have them.
  19. Thank you Roger, the kit is already quite good as it is but I could not resist adding a few items. Thank you Robert. With all the rage around the E-type the XK has been a bit overshadowed but it is a classic of it's era. Thanks Jim, much appreciated ... ok, how about just putting a UK plate on it? Hope Greece is treating you well and the weather not too hot. Thanks Rich. I love adding driver figures but they are so hard to find. I'd add them in every car if I could. Thanks Gary. I too very much like the kit but I don't understand the reasoning with the metal body.
  20. Thanks Jerry for sharing your first impressions of this just released kit. Lately I have been eying some of the Profil24 kits and this good feedback will help the decision process. Fascinating modeling subject here.
  21. Jaguar XK120 built from metal bodied Monogram kit, mostly OOB with few additions or modifications. I added a 3D printed race driver, 3D printed wire wheels (Jack Modeling), resin tires (HRM), fabricated a rear view mirror and race type fuel filler, modified the exhaust pipe, added secondary lamps and wired the engine. The car depicts a generic racing version the car as there were many out there in the early fifties. The metal body represented a bit of challenge as it was a first for me. It was pretty rough and I did not successfully smoothed out all imperfections. Mostly Vallejo products, brush painted and Quick Shine brushed over to seal and protect decals.
  22. It looks super nice with just the right amount of gloss for a race car. Not a 956/962 fan but this one makes me reconsider.
  23. Happy returns Technics. Always great to see builders come back to the hobby. Suggest you pass on the black rear end as it was done on the 935/77 but not on this K3.
  24. Final elements have been completed, fabricated rearview mirror aero shield and adding the competition style wind screens. This project is done!
  25. Nice to see you posting stuff again. I hear the Hasegawa is the better 962 kit so very much looking forward to see you apply your skills to it. I see in the background that the R8 Gordini is still alive!
