  1. So British Racing Green it is. Or at least my interpretation of it. Color mix is 50/50 Vallejo Black Green (70.980) and Dark Sea Blue (70.898). Vallejo 70.510 gloss varnish applied 2 days after color. These finishes have been brush painted. Polishing will have to wait about a week as I want that clear to fully cure and maximum adhesion to set in.
  2. Looks superb David. One of the best vintage Monogram kits in my opinion and your addition of aftermarket wheels and tires makes it even better.
  3. Having such intricate knowledge of the specifics of a car saves you tons of fabrication. These Tamiya parts appear to have good level of detail and should combine beautifully into this build. Can't have enough Jim Clark driven race cars.
  4. Aaah... yes Dave...I'm feeling OK.... I guess.... ?
  5. I love the wheels on this ride (especially to dirty bronze color). The purple body...solid or metallic? Either one works for me but may I suggest you make that purple more on the dark side. This ride is meant to look sinister and intimidating!
  6. Thanks Mark, a primer with better filling properties might have been better. Let's see what we have after some sanding and color coat...
  7. Thank you Ken. I usually try to replicate a specific moment in history (car & race) but with this one I want the freedom to put wire wheels on and choose my color, so a fictional club racer in classic British Racing Green.
  8. body primed and now proceeding to assembly fitting process
  9. Thanks Donato. I like it very much when others bring information and ideas to the table. That's what sharing a w.i.p. is all about.
  10. Terrific work as always Mr Libby. Every component is a scale model by itself. Just zooming in on the spark plugs... totally accurate. I never cease to be amazed.
  11. Sometimes they almost build themselves and sometimes you have to dig deep to make the kit come together, and you have made it work. I have yet to build a 1/20 F1 and know a bit about the Tamiya and Ebbro offerings, but now realize Fujimi is also a worthy participant in the field. Thank you for sharing this with us.
  12. Oh oh... not again! Another one of these where my reaction to the introduction of the project is... I got to find one of these! Beautiful historically important car and I will be following your work with immense interest. Rooting for you Matt!
  13. Thank you Carl Thanks Thomas. I came to the same conclusions, very old kit representing the 935/77 (not the baby). Interesting contrast building it in parallel to the Tamiya 934 released in 2013.
  14. Amazing work on these seats, turning a weak component of this kit into a masterpiece. Wonderful build to follow.
  15. Thanks Mark. The metal body is a bit unique but so far I really like this kit.
  16. Another beauty to add to your stable of unique and wonderful replicas. Wonderful add of period pictures of the car help portray the fidelity of your replica. The Tasmanian magician strikes again!
  17. It looks fantastic Gary. And a driver figure adds so much interest, especially with an open cockpit car. I should consider that...
  18. Oh boy, this is going to be challenging for you and lots of fun for us to follow. Please please please post regular updates?
  19. Indeed ken, many possibilities and I need to choose something. Definitely a race version of the car. Thanks Mike. Metal body is a bit of a head scratcher but it is beautifully shaped. Yup, nice kit. Engine is good enough for what I want to do but for not having a separate one piece oil pan. I hate that split in the middle of it. Ace is the reference. He confirmed my thoughts on how to deal with the hood fit and so far the changes are working. The kit is good but I'll upgrade to better wheels & tires and I have to consider bucket seats for a race version. So far so good Rich. The metal body is manageable for me as I just plan to make it smooth and clean without adding modifications. Why they did the body in metal escapes me but I don't mind working on something different.
  20. Paint looks good David. I agree with gray panel line on white cars, a more subtle and realistic look.
  21. Work on the body has started. Not as difficult as I had feared.
  22. Thank you Gary for pulling all these great references from your database. This will be very useful when I reach the stage of selecting a specific car to depict with this build.
  23. Thank you so much John. Pretty easy stuff compared to your elaborate builds but I am happy with the result. Looking for more updates on your Matra...and the R8 Gordini? Thank you Tony. Can't go wrong with Jaegermeister and Martini liveries. Classics they are.
