  1. Thank you Joe. Your comments are much appreciated. It was frustrating as you know, but it sits proudly on my shelf.
  2. Saw in one of your videos where you picked up that #29 Cartoon Network NASCAR model. I built a lot of the old Monogram NASCAR kits back in the day, you got a good deal on that one. I never built that one, but I did online racing back then with the old Papyrus NASCAR 2000 PC game. We had a online racing club where we ran NASCAR races once a week competing with each other on one of the game servers. That #29 Cartoon Network car was the car I ran most of time, so that brought back some memories. I've seen the kit on ebay going for around 15 to 25 bucks. I may just pick one up and build it.
  3. Suggestions, comments etc. all welcome. Thanks for looking.
  4. I think this is about where I want it. I'm using tires from a 97 Mustang, they are wider and a little shorter than the stock tires. They may make the front look a little too high maybe? The rears stick out just a hair from the fenders, doesn't look too bad I don't think but I could tuck them in a little by snipping some off the metal axle.
  5. Yea, that's looking great Bob.
  6. Got the Desoto Firedome Hemi ready, just need to do some paint touchup. Got primer on the body, I'll be going with Tamiya X-28 Green. Plan on doing white accents if possible, I've always liked the paint scheme on Tim Allen's 56 model.
  7. That's looking good. I don't plan on lowering mine, but I want to try and use some different tires. Thanks Bob.
  8. That's the engine I'll be using. I mocked it up and looks like the bottom of the front cover mounts to the front cross member and there is a small tab on the rear of the trans that hooks over the trans crossmember, and that sits the trans in the right position.
  9. Starting this one next. Planning on going stock/custom with it. Maybe green and white paint.
  10. Thank you. Thanks.
  11. Justin Johnson covers Skynyrds Four Walls of Raiford using a shot glass slide......
  12. Thanks Mike. Thank you. Thanks.
  13. This thing gave me all kinds of problems, but I finally got it done. The hood is not hinged, I had to use some styrene tube to build up the hinge area to get the hood to fit up and back so it would close a big gap at the top of the firewall. I used Tamiya blue and cleared with Revive It floor polish. At one point I messed up the paint on the top and had to spot spray it. Nothing seemed to fit right on this kit and for some reason my glue wasn't holding parts on very good and stuff kept falling off. But, here it is warts and all. All comments welcome and thanks for looking.
  14. Calling it done. Photos under glass. Thanks for all the comments.
  15. Thanks Bob. It gave me a fit but I did finish it.
  16. Thanks. I had put the headers on the wrong sides, once I swapped them it was ok.
  17. I sanded the area a little then shot some color over it. It looks ok, but if you look close you can tell it was redone. I mocked up everything and it's a mess. I have about a 1/2 inch gap between the hood and the cab. Not sure why it's not fitting right, but something is way off. Also the metal axles are too short and the wheels will not even go on them, plus the rear tires are too big for the wheels, lots of slop in them. I don't know what is going on with this kit, I don't remember others having these problems with it. I'll keep plugging away at it. I need to take some photos.
  18. I did a bunch of NASCAR Craftsman Truck series trucks back in the day. They are a fun kit, but I haven't seen any in quite some time. I was hoping Salvinos would do some.
  19. About ready to put this one back in box. Nothing but problems. Spilled alcohol on top of the cab, of course it took the paint off. Already got decals on it, so not sure if I want to strip it and start over or just brush paint the spot. Nothing is staying glued, stuff is falling off every time I try to add another part, it's beginning to look like a glue bomb. The interior is not fitting right because the windshield is not fitting right. I don't know if it's me of I got a defected kit.
  20. Thanks Mike. I'm far from being a modeling genius, I'm not even close to most of the builders on here. Not going to take much time with trying to make it perfect, I'll do what I can to get it to sit better, but will probably just let it sit where it falls.
  21. Thanks Mike. Yea, I remember you saying you still use Future. I put it on this one with a brush pretty heavy, it does look better in person than in the picture. This kit is being a headache for me, some of it the kit's fault and some mine. After getting the engine in the frame and test fitting the hood the headers were hitting the inner fenders. Couldn't figure it out until I realized I had the headers mounted on the wrong sides. That was my fault, but the front shocks do not correctly line up with mounts, so had to work with them a while. Same thing with the rear end springs, they seemed to be warped. Also the front tie rod would not mount correctly. And I have not even addressed the front clip problem yet. LOL.
  22. Got the paint on. Cleared with Revive It floor polish. Weather has not been good for painting, looks ok but could have been better.
  23. I built this kit a few weeks ago. I glued the radiator to the frame, not the body. In the instruction diagram it shows it being mounted to the body, but just below that it is already attached to the frame. I also glued the front and rear body clips or bumpers to the body and painted all as one piece.
  24. Got the engine almost done, need to install the headers. Bad photo. Also got the body parts primed, going with Tamiya X-4 blue for the color. Maybe give it a red white and blue theme.
