Well Bob, @Zippi my friend, I sure do appreciate your kind words. One at a time, down the road, I will post these ol' girls, if nobody minds. They were all a lot of fun to build, and I even managed to collect a few awards. Model clubing was a lot of fun back in the day. All the best - Dave

@Claude ThibodeauThank you so much my friend. What I love about my life is that I have other parts of my life, that even have more meaning and are more fulfilling, and so much more rewarding, than even model building. All the best, Dave

Danbury Mint 1956 Ford Fairlane Sunliner
carbuilder1950 replied to THarrison351's topic in Diecast Corner
@THarrison351 Your '56 is a beauty. I have several of Danbury Mint and Franklin mint diecast cars, and at times they both have the fit and alignment issues. Some even have toxic issues with their paint, on certain models, and it either begins to fall off, or it begins to bubble up, but most are really nice like yours. Dave -
I just finished this one today. This is a curbside, that I like to build once in a while. I can focus more on the paint , colors that compliment each other, and wheels and tires that may be different, but fits the car, and of coarse the stance. The roof came from a 1962 T-Bird, with almost no modifications, and the rear bumper came from a 1965 Lincoln, because I like the ribbed style on the '65, rather than the smooth look of the 1962 Lincoln. I know that's being picky and it was a small thing, and was a lot of work to reshape the body in several places, but I was happy with the look I accomplished, and it's a feature most people wouldn't even notice, but I like it. The color combination is really different for a Lincoln of this year, but it's fun to pick out colors, in this case subtle, but has a kind of luxurious, rich look, like the 66' T-bird in the last pic.

photo etch/decal storage ideas
carbuilder1950 replied to stitchdup's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
@stitchdup Hi les. For my photoetch, I have a small box box that I keep all my PE sets, sitting upright, and cataloged by subject separators. For decals, and small parts like window cranks, door handles, inside and out mirrors, and so on, I used Zip lock bags, taped to page separators in a 3", 3-ring binder. Dave -
@happy grumpy Mario. Great work. Your weathering is so realistic. I don't see how you can do weathering like you and others do. I can make them shiny, but weathering just escapes me. I envy your skills, and talent. Dave

Thank you @espo I didn't know about the Allstate. Thank you for the info?.

Hey TJ @JollySipper Thank you much. This ol' girl was built long ago. All plastic, and body filler, and no resin. No Jimmy Flintstone back when I built this. This was my first House of Color metal flake and candy paint job in auto urethanes. This was just a styling study, and has no body lines, like door lines and so on. Glad you like 'er. Dave

@Tom Geiger Hey Tom? If you look below a ways, there is a thread called "Stock? Henry J-2nd pics", and there's more pics and information there. Dave

Hi Sabastian The bright red looks perfect , and that black "spear" going the length of the car, really sets it off nicely.

@gseeds Gary, I had no idea this kit could turn out so nice as yours. I'll have to put mine closer to the top of the stack. You did a beautiful job and the paint is gorgeous, and your assembly work is spot on. Very, very nice!! Dave By the way, your pics are very nice too!!!

Love the colors on a scale model not seen very often. Very nicely done Gary on a great subject !!

@Bobchayer Bob. This is just as nice as your other one posted here. Beautiful in the colors you chose. Red, with black accent, and some nice chrome pieces. All very nice

ObBobchayer Hi Bob That is one nice looking model car. I'm a fan of these old cars, and yours is beautiful.

Hi there Patrick @Oldcarfan27 Nice to hear from you! Good eye there Patrick. Lots of nice parts came from the '53 Ford, including some much modified interior pieces including the floor pan, and narrowed front and real seats, and much modified door panels and rear armrest panels, and also the continental kit, with a little modification to fit properly, and look right And yes, the chassis is a shortened piece from a '69 Camaro. Exhaust had to be shortened too, as well as the drive shaft. Thanks for asking - Dave.
