@Claude Thibodeau my friend. The C400 was a fun build. Lots of modifications to get the look I wanted. I'll make that the next build I share. She's one of my favorites. That's one I built on the side, just for my own enjoyment, so I have no construction pics. I have done that on several builds. Some have never ever been seen before, or in any contests. Been building a long time so I have about 150 finished builds, all in cases. Dave

This was so much fun building this. I wanted to use the same colors in a different way, and give it a more modern look, and show how much fun I had. The front and rear fenders were raised up and modified for those huge tires and wheels, and the side steps were raise up quite a ways too, and I made a new place to locate the rear axle. Wheel/tire set came from a diecast hot rod - so much fun!!! Hope ya like 'er.

@espo Thank you. Yeah, I hear you on the color combo. I took a chance on the colors, with a gray pinstripe, and the tan interior. I love contrasting multiple colors, that compliment each other, and periodically you will see multiple color combos, up to 3 sometimes 4 colors, including the interior. It's fun to play with colors, and get something, that you wouldn't often see. Dave

@Claude Thibodeau Good morning Claude. Your last guess would be mostly correct. It was modified some, but, yes, from the '37. It fit very nicely with a little "tweeking." All the best Dave

Hey guys ? This ol' girl was built before I was a member of any forum, so no construction pics. That was a while back. Anyway, the rear deck area was shortened, and the front was lengthened at the cowl, to give the car a forward moving look, and I left the rear fenders almost stock length, I just added a little length, so the continental kit would be recessed just a bit. The front and rear of the car is basically stock except painting the grill and the headlight rings, and using a 1934 Ford bumper, and hinging the hood at the front. Same for the rear. Stock taillight rings are painted, I used a '34 Ford bumper for the rear also, and I believe I used a 1934 Ford Continental kit. The driver came from a diecast 1955 Chevy. I cut him up to fit inside the car and to pose him with a Pepsi can I made and painted, and he had a cowboy hat on when I got him, so I cut that off, and molded him a hair dew with body filler, and if you look close, you can see a photoetched pair of sunglasses in his left hand, hanging out, over the door, LOOKING VERY COOL. The interior is custom made, with a rare wood inserts from Madagascar, called Thua Burl, and a wood steering wheel from the same wood. I was a wood worker at one time. Loved it. Probably more, but that's enough. Here's some pics.

I love the look of this "beast", of yours. The look to me is just great, and all your nice detailing really make your model "POP". I love the color and engine detail especially.

@Koellefornia KidThank you. I have gotten to a place in my building where there is such an appreciation "NOW", for all the trim feature, such as script, emblems and door handles, and what it took to design them to the fit the car, and put them in the right place, and the rarity of the kits now, and just the overall look with all the trim, will probably be how I build the old rare kits that I still have in my stash. It's interesting how your building tastes change, but it's a good thing for me..

@70 Sting For me all the good clear coats are gone. When I saw my acrylic clear coat disappearing, I bought several cases. Same with my good primers. The world has changed for model car builders. Have you tried using NOVUS #2 plastic polish. Used it for over 20 years, and still using it. My only go-to for shiny, smooth paint.

@Plowboy I already commented on this once, but this is such a nice build, I had to come back to comment on it one more time. This is such an unusual subject, but came out so over the top - BEAUTIFUL!!

@Tuffy's Garage Yes. Definetly more pictures please. That's a beautiful Grand Prix. Love the color, wheels, stance, and those nice thin whitewalls. MORE PICE PLEASE!!

What a nice street cruiser with that BIG 427, and period correct black vinyl top, and matching body color interior. Great detailing and foil work also. -
Now this was a surprise being in stock form, and yet so beautifully done. The color and all the detailing, makes this a show-stopper. Very well done.

I love the fastback Mustangs. Yours turned out so nice. Love the color with the white interior, and really like the engine swap. Good choice.

What a fun little car, and so well done. So cleanly built with such great attention to detail and crisp finish work. VERY, VERY NICE!!

Very nice looking in classic white. Great foil work, stance and detailing.

@70 Sting My son bought me one something like that for lighting, and boy what a difference.

@70 Sting Your beautiful model came out stunning. Your on your way to becoming a fantastic model car builder. I agree with @Steamboat about learning to clear coat your models when you feel you are ready. Clear cost after being rubbed out will really bring out the look you will really be satisfied with. It just takes practice on scrap pieces of plastic or spare bodies, until your ready. Dave.

?? Love it.

@Can-Con Yes, mine came with a place for taillights, but none in the kit. Yours can be pretty easily foiled, and Testors makes a nice taillight paint, in the little square glass bottles, that you can use to paint in the taillights, after foiling. I hope that helps you. Dave

@Dave Darby Hi Dave The color you asked about comes from a family of colors called, "Metal Specks", by Dupli-color, and also came in blue, red and green. The color on the Dodge is called Burnt Copper. If you check on the NET, you'll find them for various prices. At least that 's what I found the last time I ordered some. I buried mine in 3 coats of clear and polished it out to give it that glossy look. I hope that helps - Dave.

@espo There are guys that still like that dechromed look and I do to at times. It just gives us more options to enjoy in our building. I LIVE THIS HOBBY!!
-
@espo I remember my first car, a 1950 Mercury, and ripping all the beautiful chrome trim and ornaments off, to customize it. I have found myself thinking how beautiful all those emblems are now on most cars, and all the genius it took to design them. Nothing close today to appreciate.

What a beautiful model. The body color is perfect and the interior color and detailing is superb - Over the TOP !!! Under the hood detailing is just beautiful, and I love the contrasting colors of the body and interior. You should be very proud.
