  1. @Sledsel Thank you. Your not the first one to say that about it possible being from the Revell wagon, so I'm sure your re right. Jimmy Flintstone did a beautiful Job making the body useable, and as having more than a couple of his bodies, I'd say from all the bodies I have purchased from him, this is one of his nicest that I have, but His 4 door standard wagon is just as nice, if not even nicer. It's still waiting for some love in it's original box. I love resin as well as the plastic kits.
  2. Thank you. I do appresiate your comment. Thanks. It was fun. Thanks so very much Thank you Michelle.
  3. @TooOld The taping was the real challenge, for the 2 coats of the lighter color of the light wood trim, before the wood grain was applied by hand. First wood grain effort. Not sure I'd do it again?. It took days, and one tiny mistake would have ruined it all. I wouldn't call it skill, as much as dumb luck ?.
  4. @ve safari That's one of the many I have gotten a good start on, but has a ways to go. No thread on it, as I sometimes don't even photograph or keep rack of my builds. At times my building is pretty prolific, and I bounce around a lot from build to build, as things are drying, sometimes 10 or 12 builds at a time, and I'm having so much fun, the thought never occurs to me to photograph anything, or keep track of them - Sorry. I just have my own goofy way of building.
  5. Thank you all. So nice to hear such positive reviews. Been gone about a dozen years and wasn't sure what to expect when I came back, but decided to give it another try. Very pleasantly surprised how people are so supportive and positive, and answer any questions you may have. Looking forward to being here a lot longer. Dave
  6. Many eons ago, after this forum first started, I was part of this forum when it was a lot more difficult with people, so I left. It's so much different, and fun to be here now, And I'm really enjoying myself ??
  7. @TooOld my friend. Many nice tips for me to refer back to when I get to my Polara. I notice several subtle body differences between the Phoenix and the Polara. Great work on the detailing, and getting things to fit properly on your rare kit. I like what your doing. I'll keep following along as you progress. ?
  8. @StevenGuthmiller I always love to see your builds, as there is such a fresh, cleanness to them , like a newly minted coin. I have watched your builds on other forums under my different screen names, and always enjoyed your latest presentation. This is no exception. In your own way, you make the hobby so much better, just in the way you take your skills to a higher level, and give so many a picture of what they can accomplish, with some extra effort - BRAVO on your part in this hobby we enjoy so much. Dave
  9. @Dennis Lacy I used to be a lot more active in the hobby and building customs, and when I look at a build like yours that has such ingenious, almost elusive custom changes, I fee like a dinosaur of the hobby, and I have been passed by, by people like you, that have taken the hobby to a whole new level in design, application, and skills, which to me is just a great thing for our hobby. Our hobby needs to progress and move on to new heights, and your helping it do just that. Your design changes are so up tp date, clean and contemporary, yet retain the personality and recognizable quality of the original design. The color is so understated, yet perfect for complimenting your entire finished design - BRAVO.
  10. Thank you so much! Thanks. Green for me too, Much appreciated. Thank you. It was fun to build. Thanks. I love woodies too. Thank you David !! They are a nice car to build. you'll enjoy youts. Thanks so much. It was a challenge, but fun.
  11. @TimKustom What wonderful imagination and skills to pull this off Like many said, there's a Roth vibe to it, mixed in with your own idea's of a 60's show car of those times, and it has been beautifully executed. I think everything has already been said. I can't add anymore. Just looking forward to your next build??.
  12. Sorry Guys. Somethin happened when posting. I'll try again. Years ago, I ordered the resin roof and glass from Modelhaus, so that one day when I had the time, I could attempt this build. Today, I posted the interior first, because the 1959 Chevy interior is one of my favorites, and because , for me, it came out so nice. The interior color is a little darker than the body, as I like contrast, and yet I wanted the interior color to fit in with the body color. Sorry I can't find any of the body conversion pics. The only body mods was the addition of the roof and scribing and re-scribing the door lines, and making the side chrome fit as a stock 4 door, and I eliminated the separate chrome windshield frame and used the one that came with the roof section.
  13. @Claude Thibodeau Hi Claude Been stashing resin kits and other hard to find kits for many years, like many others have. I'm a "DINASAUR in the hobby and somehow saw this day coming when things would begin to disappear, so I started a stash for the future. Boy has that paid off. I didn't see this many changes coming, but probably like you, I put away what I liked. No regrets on what I didn't buy. I have more than enough to enjoy just like you probably do to. Dave
  14. @StevenGuthmiller Steve, I will keep an eye out for a '61 Caddy at a reasonable price - ??? 2 doors are all resin so trying to piece.one together is impossible. They are becoming rarer than chickens teeth. So much we had available for so long, are all but gone now in collections. People with deep pockets are willing to pay a fortune for these now - CRAZY!! Love the stuff you build. Dave
  15. It's amazing how many people are looking for one of these. I don't have another one, but wish I did. I have others and bought them many years ago. One from the mid nineties with open hood and up-top. In the end he wasn't doing those.
  16. Thank you cobraman ? Thanks Zippy. Much appreciated.
  17. Thanks Zippy. Thanks Tom ? Thanks Thank you so much. Yeah. Sometimes you take liberties. I put a lot of work in the engine and engine bay, and wanted to be able to have it seen - MY BAD !!
  18. Thank You. I mixed the color and it came out even better than I was expecting, using urethanes. Thank you so much. Thanks!! Modelhaus made beautiful kits. I still have a few nice one's in my stash. ? Thank you. The color was fun to mix and I like how it came out. Thanks. The color was important to me, as it would be what set the car off at shows. Thank you. So much appreciated.
  19. With air dams and a skirt kit this was the beginning point. Roof was chopped off, and a whole lot of mods took place. As you can see in the construction pics there was some putty used. I used a 'vert kit to convert it, and the hood treatment came from a 1967 Corvette. I has to make the top work so that took some effort, but I like it. I made a few decals, painted the hood like a 'vette, and gave her a orange stripe, and did some inerior and engine work, I love the finished side view.
  20. Thank you!! PThank you. Picking out the right color is always the challenge Thank you. I had a pretty nice kit to start with. Thank you Claude. Always nice to hear from you.
  21. This is a Jimmy Flintstone body that was very nice. Very little clean up, and all the chrome fit really nice. I opened the hood, and gave it some hinges, and used a donor 1957 ford kit to complete it. Woodgrain was a challenging process, but fun.
  22. I kept the old girl really stock except the stance and paint. I love this Caddy body style.
  23. Always so nice because of your building techniques and your photography skills. Colors are dead on Bernard ?.
  24. @hedotwo Boy, the kid that originally built that had a lot of fun didn't he. I've had a few like that myself. Your results are very nice. A lot of work, but on a very rare example that was worth it in the end. Great restoration. Thanks for sharing it ?.
