These were scratch built. Not sure if they were included in previous versions. -

Thanks for the comments. The antennae are scratch built. Not sure if they were included in previous versions. -

Here, we have the latest release of the AMT 62 Impala SS convertible. Very detailed kit without a whole lot of fit issues. In my opinion this is one of AMT's better kits. One error that I noticed was in the molded rear emblem on the passenger side rear quarter panel. The "SS" should be at the rear instead of the front. They got the decal for it right, but when you go to overlay it, it's reversed! I should have BMF'd the emblems before I applied the decals, but for now I'm calling it done. I may go back and BMF it and paint in the details if I get the urge. Good enough for the shelf.

Fresh from the bench, an out of box 62 Impala. Added antenna, and wide white walls. Not so enthusiastic about them, but didn't want a blackwall either.

Looks like it was pulled out of the ocean. It would look good in a junkyard diarama

You'll have to double park that thing lengthwise. Beautiful car?

Don't forget the chrome spindles in the center of each guage and you've nailed it!

You do some phenomenal work to say the least! -
I was hard pressed to find anything that would suggest this was not a real automobile. The only giveaway was the out of scale spark plug wires. This is not a criticism, just an observation. Just an absolutely incredible build and probably the best photo shoot I've ever seen. Simply stunning.

I'm glad you brought this to me, LM. I had no idea. I just looked at my dash -what about drilling the guage faces out and attaching a piece of sheet on the back side and using photo reduced guage faces from Best? In That would be a good solution. In reality the gauge is 3D in that the numerals are on the lens and the lines are behind the needles which are behind the lens. This looks really cool especially when lit up. To most people it probably doesn't matter, but the only reason I'm finicky about it is I made a bedroom clock out of one from a parts car and look at it every night!

I had a real 62 t bird and I have this kit in the pile. The interior looks accurate except for the three instrument pods. I haven't started this one, but now I'm getting an idea how to tackle that problem. The gauge faces are sunk in about an inch and a half on the real thing. I'm thinking about adding a scale inch to the front of the pod and cutting the whole gauge out and setting in back a scale inch. Just thinking out loud looking at this.
