  1. Who's to say that when this car was pictured it was running 1967 NHRA rules? By 1969, AHRA was allowing aftermarket fiberglass hoods and non-OEM hood scoops in Super Stock. Who knows when that started? In the pic where it has D/SS on the door window the headlights look clear. There's a discussion elsewhere where one guy asserted that it was running a 427 inch Chevy in B/MP. Then 3 or 4 guys parroted that. It coulda started out as an L-79 Super Stocker then morphed into something else.
  2. Well, a Pontiac engine won't fit in there without major surgery. Found a picture where the class designation was SS/D. In Super Stock they had to run the brand of engine that it was built with. That would be a Chevy. In 1967 SS/D was running 8.70-9.49 pounds per advertised horsepower. A 350 horse Chevy 327 @ 9lbs per horsepower would put you at 3150 pounds which is very close to the advertised curb weight of that car.
  3. I especially liked the part where the video boi said he's gonna look at the security videos and figure out who the thief is and when he does "God help you when i do find you" ? That's cute! You don't often get to see the faces of these internet tough guys!
  4. Got 12 empty bottles of Testors Liquid Cement and gallons of lacquer thinner plus a quart of MEK. Is one better than the other for joining styrene?
  5. The GM 375 Roto was in several of the Jo-Han 1960's Cadillacs even after the GM 400 Turbo hit the market for the 1965 model year.
  6. Ol' Herb is still pretty sharp. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwiZKEJK4O8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53bDsX9MOew https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94CG8vxtz54 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cLqWEvBBpU
  7. Superglue is exceedingly brittle. Just so you know. Most JB Weld variations are a 2-part epoxy. It's a lot stronger than you would suspect.
  8. How many remember that the father of Roger Penske's first ex-wife fronted him the stake to buy his first car dealership? Not many, i'll wager.
  9. That is AWESOME! A slant-6 plus pistol-grip 4-Speed! TOO COOL! A Great Model car! A keeper!
  10. It's got the 1994 mirrors along with the seat separator console which was 1996 only. So, they took some liberties.
  11. They build well except for one thing: Jo-Han plastic is uncommonly brittle.
  12. Acrylic Lacquer never fully solidifies. Fight me until your death.
  13. I read thru the thread so i watched the clip again. Where are the mid 1960's to early 1970's annuals that were never repopped? Where are the show cars that got butchered into something 'better'? Where are the crude but irreplaceable late 1950's annuals? Where are the old Funnies and early Pro Stockers? Common stuff except for maybe 5 or 6 toward the end that wagged my tail. Guess i'm jaded.
  14. The HURST logo changed from round to rhombus from 1968 to 1969. Not a slam on the artist here - it's just a little amusing! I don't buy for box art. I buy few new kits these days but i WILL buy this one because Dean Moon was a giant in the sport. I hope his family is getting consideration from this production.
  15. The Windows 7 Updater is just trying to give you the updates that it sees you haven't downloaded yet. MSFT is not creating any more new updates for W7. I'm fine with that. I just avoid websites that are gonna cause me trouble. Updater was using so much resources looking for an opening to download the missing updates that i shut down Updater. Yes, i'm running Win7Pro on 5 or 6 computers around here. The OS that is vulnerable is XP. There's WAY more XP machines running than Win 7.
  16. Going by the HURST logos it musta been one of the very first Nostalgia events ?
  17. Well, it ain't pretty but i don't see how it could leak with that all lead on there ?
  18. Looks like common and semi-common stuff. If both the parties are happy it's a win-win!
  19. That's where the steady hand and the hot knife, from the hidden side, does the job. Careful planning gives the best results. I usually mark the cut lines in pencil then hot knife until nearly breaking thru. When you get close enough you can break it apart with fingers. For the ones where the front and rear seats are molded in, i use 2 to make one. But i never butcher 2 good ones. One has to have issues like squirrels, portable tv sets, and seatbelts welded to the seats.
  20. Excellent Work! And the camera focused on the subject! YAY!
  21. The part you're trying to separate from the sprue needs to be on solid ground so that it's unstressed by your cutting tool. My favorite cutting tool for this is a single edge razor blade held at a angle like a guillotine blade. There's a reason why the guillotine blade was angled. If in doubt, as in cutting clear parts from a sprue, or tiny parts, i use the hot knife.
  22. Hey, you're welcome. All your pieces look fixable except that the front wheels may never roll again ? Before you glue that steering linkage together you may consider checking the toe on the front wheels. Steering linkage spread is one thing that the factories seldom got right. Good luck!
  23. The distance between the bosses is .610"
