  1. Koool John I love the current photo of your dad with the bike. nice to see the bike is still around, does make building a model of a lot easier. should be fun watching ya build this monster. c'ya in Salt lake
  2. So Vinnie 1/25th is the scale you are looking for? I'm definitely interested in building a couple of models for your display. Now I've got a place to send those "slump-buster" builds I occasionally do.
  3. Nice Subject, Nice work... I've been wanting to build a Lance Sellers kit for awhile now. watching ya do this one right...might we see it at the Desert Scale Classic coming up? c'ya
  4. Thanx I've been playing with the new Humbrol Spray paints. Their gloss paints after drying have a semi-gloss sheen to them. They can be clear coated and/or polished to gloss them up. I don't believe paint in 1927 was glossy anyway, so I wanted a nice semi-gloss finish on the Fiat. I liked the look of the red after testing on a plastic spoon and thought it would do the job..
  5. Very Nice John...aren't "clone" builds fun?
  6. Staying true to the NNL West theme of "7"...being any car built in a year ending with a 7. I found a 1/12 scale Italeri Fiat 806 Grand Prix online. This model represents the car Pietro Bordino won the 1927 Milan Grand Prix at Monza. I first thought it to be a re-pop of the Protar kit, but there are numerous differences. It was enjoyable building and only made a few changes to the kit, most notable were the plug wires. The kit includes plug wires, but they are huge rubber cords with big unrealistic caps. I replaced the spark plugs, resin cast the distributor caps (using the rubber ones to cast a mold) and rewired with brown fabric plug wire. Similar to a Protar kit, the kit is held together with numerous screws! These little buggers are of the "slot" variety and not magnetic, so getting them started was not much fun.
  7. Holy Cow John...that is a LOT of Rubber! looking' good buddy! c'ya
  8. very nice sir, i guess i need to send ya a couple of wire wheels, heh! was planning on running off a few, enhanced my jig a little...gotta test it out.
  9. The NNL West has it's own web page...so you can keep up to date on when it's happening , etc. www/nnlwest.org
  10. Very, very nice! Nice to see F1 pop up on this forum. I love the Ebbro kits, I have this one and it is not far from ending up on the workbench. Hopefully I can do it justice such you have. thanx for sharing and keep on building!
  11. I used Plastruct #90880 .040/1.0mm Half Round have fun Curt
  12. yep, missed it...easy fix
  13. Just completed the last '57 Corvette for the NNL West. It's the AMT R2 1015-2 re-issue. Beautiful kit and builds into a nice factory stock version of the '57 Corvette. My only complaint is it doesn't have the hing for the hood. I could have fabricated one, but decided to build the model "Straight Out of the Box". Paint is Tamiya PS-14 Copper and Tamiya TS-7 Racing White covered with Model Master Ultra Gloss Clear. Here's a photo of the four '57 Corvette's which will be "parked" on the Theme Table at the NNL West.
  14. Here's what happens when you stick the rear end of a 1968 El Camino to a 1967 Camaro. I read that the "Common Kit" at GSLXXVI was the Revell '67 Camaro SS kit #4936. I decided to build the El Caminaro for the contest. Don't expect it to win anything, but it will help fill the class. I always liked the paint theme for the 1969 Camaro Indy 500 Pace Car, white with orange stripes. So I went that way with a little twist. The white is Tamiya TS-45 Pearl White and orange stripes are homemade decals. Wheels and tires are from the "Wheels/Tires" Parts Box. Here's the mock-up and follow up photos of the El Caminaro. Please excuse the "specks" on the photos, luckily they are on the backdrop and not the camera!
  15. Most Excellent, what size jets are you running in these webers?
  16. Tamiya TS-7 "Racing White"
  17. Here we go... Picked up the Revell '57 Ford Gasser at the local hobby shop (BCT Hobby in Hollister, CA). Decided to build the "Hypersonic Chariot" as depicted on the box straight "Out-of-the Box". Paint is Model Master One Shot Inca Gold, clear-coated with Model Master Ultra Gloss Clear after applying the decals. What an excellent kit, it was a joy to build.
  18. Yes...John you are the "Master of Plastruct"! what you do with that stuff is amazing, watching you work has made me a better model maker, thanx! dang that still is a lot of rubber being turned by a single chain!!! I bet the seat gets a little warm sitting on the exhaust pipes!!! c'ya
  19. My third of four '57 Corvettes for the NNL West. This is the 1/25 AMT/Ertl 1957 Chevrolet Corvette "Street Machine". Built mostly from the box with a few added details. This kit does build up to be a very nice model, crisp detail and stuff fits! Paint is Tamiya's Metallic Orange TS-92 and Racing White TS-7 for the scallops. The fourth '57 Corvette will the reissued AMT Chevy Convertible Corvette from the "Car Culture Series". I will build it as stock '57 Corvette. All will be displayed together at the NNL West in January.
