  1. just a figure of speech, i have no idea how big his feet are he was walking thru the crowd with his entourage...
  2. I really like the look of the LRW with the big "meats" as we used to call them. But those seem to be only on the restored truck. I want to build it to represent the LRW that scooted down the track @ Lions Drag Strip back in 1965. I do have a 2nd kit of this truck...may build a model of the restored truck with the big "meats" eventually.
  3. Nope, just came struttin' thru on his big 13's...
  4. Looks as thou you got a lot done on this truck since i saw it on Friday...are ya still gonna tie the bed into the cab and runnin' boards? I like the pie cutting on the hood, I gotta try that someday "She who must be obeyed" and I had a great time at the Concours d'Elegance in Pebble Beach on Sunday. Saw Jay Leno on a motorcycle, Jerry Seinfeld in a Porsche 908 and "Arnie the Govern-nator" Good Guys this weekend, heh!
  5. hey dude...don't be leavin' the forum the newspaper article ya did about the elves in Hollister still has me laughing forums are forums...ya can't take'm too serious ...it's just another medium to share with others having like interests... i hope to get future responses from ya when i put my stuff on display
  6. I'll try and detail it out as much as I can, mostly wiring and plumbing around the engine area. So far the only pixur I have of the engine is this one:
  7. Here we go...
  8. I totally agree...Tamiya TS-14 is the BEST Black paint available in a rattle can. Works great straight from the can or decanted for an airbrush. Best results are hitting it with a clearcoat while it's still wet, I've used Tamiya's TS-13 or Model Masters Ultra Gloss Clearcoat without any problems.
  9. I'll throw my hat in the ring... picked up this model at a recent swap meet, just needed an excuse to build it. Bill "Maverick" Golden ran the "Little Red Wagon" @ Lions Drag Strip in January 1965. So, me thinks it qualifies for this build... now lets start building this puppy!
  10. The Rathman car was built with the same body in the kit. The nose is wrong, didn't find out til after I'd built the car. Decals are from IndyCal. The McClusky car is a vacuum formed body over the Watson chassis. Decals are from Fred Cady. IndyCal decals were used on the Parnelli Jones car (really nice gold foil on these) Used vacuum formed bodies and had the decals made for the Jim Hurtubise and Ebb Rose cars.
  11. Dang, dude... I can see why you waited for the engine, it looks big 'n mean in this little Ford I see you really had to "shoehorn" it to fit lookin' forward to seein' it Friday
  12. Yes he does...he was a very frustrated modeler in the past...has me build his stuff for him now
  13. Here's five of the Indy 500 roadsters from the 60's era that I've built o'er the past couple of years. Jim Rathman, Ken-Paul Special, Watson-Offy. 1960 Indy 500...1st Place Jim Hurtubise, Demler Special, Epperly-Offy. 1961 Indy 500...22nd Place Ebb Rose, J.H. Rose Trucking Special, Porter-Offy. 1962 Indy 500...14th Place Roger McClusky, Konstant Hot Special. 1963 Indy 500...14th Place Parnelli Jones, Agajanian Willard Battery Special, Watson-Offy. 1963 Indy 500...1st Place thanx for lookin'...
  14. During my build of the J. H. Rose Trucking Special, I built this roadster, added a few wires, turned metal intake trumpets and a set of IndyCal decals. Parnelli Jones started from the Pole and finished in 1st place. He averaged 143.137 mph and won $143,513. chassis kinda exploded... chassis awiting body panels... everything in it's place... thanx for lookin...
  15. Here is a model of the J.H. Rose Trucking Special Porter-Offy Ebb Rose drove in the 1962 Indianapolis 500. He started from position 32 and finished in position 14 averaging 134.001 mph winning $6001.00. chassis minus body panels... chassis with body panels before decals... looks like a racecar now... This model originated from the MPC/AMT Watson roadster kit and a vacuum formed conversion body for this particular roadster. The Watson kit can be found on ebay, etc...do not know were one would find the vacuum formed conversion kits!!! Decals were homemade by my buddy Steve (sorry, he only prints decals for his buddies) thanks for lookin'
  16. Gosh I sure do miss the Eztel Speed stuff...Chris did some remarkable stuff that's s'sposed to be the best Offy engine ever, glad Norm is "re-issuing" it
  17. Thanx ol' buddy ya know if I was building these vacumm form conversions for myself...the would've ended up in the "roond file" as well but...i built these for Bill Wolfe, DDS from Albuquerque, NM. He watched these roadsters race at Indy when he was a youngster. He sent me a bunch of Watson Roadster kits and vacuum conversions and really, really wanted a few built models of these roadsters. So I built'em for him! It was a challenge but o'er all me thinks they came out OK...I know he likes the models I've sent him so far.
  18. The decals are on the roadster and she's ready to go "Underglass" couldn't get the bonnet to "snug down"...that dang clear plastic is not easy to work with thankfully this is the last clear plastic vacuum form conversion I'll be building Thanx for lookin...
  19. Oh - Oh...my secret's out!...that is very funny and a big thanx to my good friend Raul for spillin' the beans...
  20. Thanx Bernard when building factory stock, you are free from having to be creative and attacking the plastic with the ol'dremel tool, but you have to build'em clean. I'm gettin' better, still a long way to go...
  21. Since the girls have grown, got boyfriends and all; momma's got her own thing goin' and she like's the fact I'm in the garage playin' with plastic...I have been afforded the luxury of time to build. Plus, I build faster than I really should anyhow, does lend itself to making mistakes...but what the heck that's me.
  22. Bernard looks as thou you're havin' a lot of fun with this model...count all the rivets ya want to, after all it's your model just one lil' question...what is an "Eatly 50's style"? never heard of a guy named Eatly in the 50's who had a style named after him... c'ya
  23. When the guyz at NNL West announced the themes for next year, the "ought" years 1910, 1920, 1930, etc. plus "racecars". I dug around in my stash and found this: This is a very, very nice kit. Did not encounter any problems during the build. Basically a straight outta-da-box build with a little detail work in engine compartment. again, thanx for lookin'....
  24. That's one very nice California-style "prancing horse" makes me want to get that 250 SWB out and finish it. thanx
  25. Bernard I'm liking it the ol blue tape mock up, heh...been there!
