Thanks guys, I really appreciate it.

My first 2 attempts at building this failed miserably, fit issues, paint issues, lost parts issues, almost going insane issues. Finally , after 2 years, slowly but surely, this one is finally done. Completely box stock. Tamiya black cleared with TS 13. thanks for looking.

Both of these are stunning but the extended cab and subtle mods really stand out. Amazing work and gorgeous paint job. -

Very cool build. Great idea behind it. -
Great looking olds. I like the mods you did, the light green makes it stand out.

Awesome looking Chevy and great backstory. A lot of my builds have a connection to my past. Great color combo.

Looks great in that color. nice job.

Beautiful rendition of the most recognized taxi in the world. When I bought that kit I was a little put off by the size, after some research I found out that the kit is closer to 1/22 than 1/24 so it looks bigger when compared to a true 1/24 scale. But it is a very nice kit as your model shows. Great build to be proud of.

She looks gorgeous Greg. Really nice color choice and the vinyl top contrast well with the color. The interior and underside are really well done. Great build ?

Great job on the build and the paint job. Turned out fantastic. -
Beautiful and rare, I'm a little jealous. You're right Ray. if we could go back in time for a day, I would buy several models of the whole jo-han line. To think I use to buy some of these for 3.50$ at the local store. They had interesting subjects and their bodies were really good . Ah well .

I built this last year. no fit issues and nicely detailed .First time I built this kit. Custom acrylic mix of metallic brown, copper and titanium gold. turned out ok. Cleared with Mr hobby super clear.

The look is spot on, back in the day we would see many of these were they seem to rot faster than they could move. I remember a guy bring his to my friends garage and when he lifted it up, the poor thing just split in 2, boy, the look on his face.? great job on the weathering.? -
Issue with Tamiya TS-13 Clear
happy grumpy replied to av405's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I use Tamiya paint a lot. This happened to me before. I found out that even If you wait days, Like Chris said if the coat is too heavy it will sink in the paint. I had a monte carlo all finished and when I applied the clear , the next day the thin decals were running down like they melted. What I do to avoid this; Apply 3 or 4 very thin mist coat to seal the underlying paint (especially if you have decals), 10-20 min apart, let it rest for a few days, wet sand if you want, lay 2 or 3 wet coats and let it rest for a week, then depending on the finish I want, I wet sand and polish. The thing I do now is to prep and paint the body long before I start building, I always have a few projects to work on . One last thing, lacquers dry fast but they seem to take some time to fully cure. I had a few occasion when the paint did not play well with the plastic even when de greased, primed and sanded, this happened only in recent Revell kits where the plastic had an uneven sheen and it would show thru the paint even after 3 or 4 coats of paint. Sorry for the long post , hope this helps -
