Maybe contact this place, and ask if they can scale down the carbon fiber for you?: https://www.mydipkit.com/samples/

Removing pre installed glass

Still not sure how they are joined, but as expected from Tamiya, that's impressive. I guess they figure most people will just apply the decals and not paint the body, being a snap-together style kit? -
Is this one of the custom wheels from the AMT (well, Ertl era MPC) '69 Olds Cutlass 442 kit? I want to say it isn't, but it's been a long time since I had that kit in hand and I can't find a good close-up image online. The spokes have a sharp peak, so they're not from the MPC '67 Charger kit, and they are definitely Ertl era grey plastic:

I'm curious to see how the two are bonded(?), but no rush. Hopefully the masking works out well. -
Tires...Tires...and more Tires!
Casey replied to 3dscaleparts's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This should be #1. You could use them with all three Monogram 1/12 scale kits-- '69 Camaro Z/28, '67 Corvette 427, and '57 Chevy Bel Air, and since the Goodyer Eagle STs from those kits appear to be history, they would be popular if done right and if the 3D printed texture is very minimal, the biggest problem with almost all 3D printed parts. At 1/12 scale you might be able to get away with it. -
Trevor/Bainford's comment:..."accurate steelies. 95% of the steelies out there are unusable absolute including those offered in newly tooled kits (yes, I'm looking at you, Revell). JoHan had the best ones." ...got me thinking. I've seen plenty of poorly executed steel wheels and have favorites and some I would never even consider using on any projects, but opinions differ. If you can post pics and/or mention the specific kit(s) in which the wheels you like (or dislike) are found, even better...unless you're hoarding them and don't want to share your secret source.

1/25 Flathead recommendation?
Casey replied to Earl Marischal's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Just a note regarding the cylinder heads in the Revell '48 Ford Convertible kit. While they are aftermarket performance parts, the cylinder heads are Motor City Flathead branded parts, so technically not '50s or '60s era vintage hot rod parts. They do look the part, though, and most people's eyesight is probably not good enough to make out the MCF logo cast into the head, but for the sake of accuracy, they are not true period speed parts...unless the early '90s is the period your looking to replicate. These are from the Revell-Monogram Pro Modeler kit, but as Bill mentioned, the more recent reissues of the Revell '48 Ford Convertible still contain these parts, but Revell's '48 Ford Custom Coupe and '48 Ford Police Coupe 2'n1 kits do not: The Revell '48 Ford Custom Coupe 3'n1 does contain some nice Navarro period speed parts, pic of which can be viewed via link here: The Revell '48 Ford Police Coupe 2'n1 kit contains only the stock engine option, and zero aftermarket/speed parts. -

Can you post a picture of the inside of the body, hopefully showing how Tamiya joins the clear "glass" and the body shell? -

Hyrdo dipping the body shell after it's polished might work. I doubt the lace decals are going to be all that convincing, but admittedly, it's a difficult detail to pull off successfully. Glad to see this one back, warts and all. -

To come close to the original which was molded in red would be my guess. Probably figure some people will just leave the body the molded color, apply the decals, and done, too. Did the real car have pearlescent paint? -

Are you sure you've got the right place? Which kit/model in particular are you trying to remove the glass from? -

And the roof rack found in the High Roller version matches, too. I don't think the other issues of the Ramcharger included the roof rack, did they?

A post regarding clear headlight lenses got me thinking about a specific type of part which everybody seems to need, but nobody wants to give up. I'll admit I hoard nicely molded, clear headlight lenses as they're rarely easy to find, difficult to make, and easily lost. When you find nice ones, you keep 'em.

Lots of "leftover" Art Deco style elements on the trailer, too. Good idea for a '50 Ford project on which you messed up the roof paint. -

Were the rear tires used in AMT's Sandkat Dune Buggy and AMT's other dune buggy kits -- Sandbagger, Sand Hog, and Sand T Buggy -- used in any other kits? Size comparison with AMT "new" pie crust slick:

Not too shabby, either.
