  1. Posts like these, which seem to be less about discussing real and scale model cars and trucks, and more about expressing one's opinions, beliefs, and attitudes, almost always end up getting personal. Sometimes it's better to not post something in the first place.
  2. Can anyone confirm the stock tires in this kit are the BFG The Advantage tires, as pictured below, please?
  3. I think that area (mounting boss?) for the oil filter is close to correct on the 1/25 Revell '68-9 Charger R/T kit. One thing I noticed when looking over the parts last night is how the rearend is laid out and located among the other parts. It appears it's an insert, which leads me to speculate/predict a future variant with an 8-3/4" rear end is all but certain. I can even see a place for the (what would be molded separately) gear carrier (chunk/pig), so sign me up for an AAR in 2016.
  4. The problem with IE is when it automatically updates to 11, and the update causes the problem for some. Which web browser are you running?
  5. The 1/25 T/A-R/T kit. You can see on the box art build how little body roll there is, making it appear slab sided:
  6. They are 5-spoke Cragar star-like wheels. I'm guessing Revell will include a separately bagged sprue (with the rounded corners) with the new wheels attached instead of adding them into the existing tooling, but the wheels are replicas of 1:1 Foose "Fishtail C" wheels:
  7. Yeah, those are...unfortunate looking, and kinda what I was hoping they wouldn't be. Might not be a bad thing, though.
  8. Was the shipping label from eBay, or was it hand-addressed? Tracking number? (Bronze '80 )
  9. I forget what this part/section is called to which the oil filter mounts, but I think this is the first time it's been fully molded on a B-series Mopar big block like this: The bucket seats have nice detail which will still be visible after a coat of primer and paint: Dash/instrument cluster surround detail:
  10. Here are a few pics of the AMT '74 promo hood semi-roughly cut out (it was molded with the body shell) and placed on the Revell 1/25 '70's body shell. The AMT hood is too wide, and will need a sharper, extended "tip" at the front to match the Revell body. The length/depth appears to be near perfect, and the contours along the sides of the hood and the Revell body's fenders is very close, but will need some slight tweaking to make it perfect. A few additional comparison shots of the Revell '70 and AMT '74 body shells: In the below pic, the Revell body was slightly elevated, bringing it a tad bit closer to the camera lens and exaggerating it's size a bit, but the Revell body is definitely wider than the AMT body. Whether or not that's correct/accurate, I can't say.
  11. I received my kit today, and while my decal sheet was curled up the side of the box, it was curled up the end a bit: No folds nor permanent damage, so not a big concern at this point. There was little to no flash on any of the parts in my kit, but the chrome was a bit frosty(?) in a few spots, as if the undercoating wasn't perfectly even. The frosty areas look like moisture which has yet to evaporate, but it's not. You can see it best on the front license plate backing area, molded with the front bumper: Here's the only flash I could find, around the main sprue feeder section: As far as the individual parts are concerned, everything looks very nice. I saw nothing excessively out of scale, no skimped over details nor parts which were overly simplified. The Shaker hood and scoop parts look very nice, the Raisin Bran hood's scoops are crisply defined, too: I have to look at the twin-scoop hood a bit closer to determine of the bulges are a tad too high, and the "spears" at the leading edge of each might be a bit too prominent, too, but I haven't gotten too in depth on that yet. Moving on to the body shell, the first flaw become obvious, and it was mentioned by Chuck K and others previously- the wheel lips. They are way too prominent, and I'm not sure why. When viewed straight on from the side they look fine: Maybe a little too thick, but nothing grossly out of scale, especially when compared to an AMT '74 promo body. When viewed from above, looking directly down upon the top of the wheel arch, we see the problem clearly: They almost look to be flared, and they are definitely too prominent for stock. Even taking the stainless wheel lip trim thickness into account, the wheel lips are still too thick. The wheel trim is engraved into the lips, so removing some material from the wheel lips to make them less prominent is going to remove the engraved wheel lip detail entirely. I don't know if the MPC/AMT '74's wheel lips are 100% correct, but they sure look much more correct and proportionate than the Revell '70's do. Here's another shot of both bodies' rear wheel lips: And two shots comparing the front wheel arches/lips of both bodies: The very thin drip rail was mentioned by someone else previously, too, and here's a close up comparison shot of the AMT '74's and Revell '70's drip rails: Both are very thin/shallow, so again I'll have to do some research to see what's correct in this area. I think some scribing to add a shadow line where the molding meets the roof would add a little visual depth and give the drip rail more definition.
  12. Correct. This one, the 1/25 scale T/A-R/T kit: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=17859&hl=challenger#entry193815
  13. Click the Compatibility View button in the IE (header?) toolbar or turn off automatic updates...or switch to Google Chrome.
  14. They must've updated their 'site since I checked yesterday, too. The pic I posted was found on Revell's facebook page. The "can barely see the new wheels" thing has me a little worried now. I guess I was hoping the Halibrand Cobra-ish wheels were what we would be getting, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.
  15. I think I have a solution. Jeremy, go ahead and start a post for intra-Canadian trades in the Model Cars: Trade section and we'll see how it goes. It won't be pinned and it will be purged like any other post in the Trades sections if there are no new replies after a period of 30 days, but if there's enough interest, it'll remain on its own merit. Any truck trade should still be posted in the Model Trucks: Trade section.
  16. Robert, we you the person working on the '33 Dodge pickup, too?
  17. It's too far forward?
  18. I'm trying to explain why I would or wouldn't do what you're suggesting, but if you don't answer my question to explain why your idea should be implemented, we can't go any further. If there's a good reason for doing what you want and it will benefit the forum membership, we'll do it.
  19. Here's what appears to be a box stock built up:
  20. I'll ask again- what exactly is the point of having a pinned post specifically for Canadian members only? I know what you want, but I haven't heard why you feel it is necessary beyond the fact that some Canadian members feel it's too expensive to ship outside of Canada. Members from every other country have to look at the O.P.'s location and decide if they want to proceed with a trade, so why should we create a Canadian members only pinned post so they don't need to do the same thing every other member has to do when looking through the trade section? Yes, a pinned topic is easy to do, but please understand that if we have one for Canadian members only, we to have need one for Australian members only, another for European members only, another for South American members, and so on. We also have to do it in both the Model Cars: Trade and Model Trucks: Trade sections, too. Eventually we'll have a pinned topic for every geographic area in both sections, and people will complain there are to many posts in each single pinned topic based on location. If we say OK to Canadian members who want a pinned post, how can we say no to others who want the same? I understand shipping can get expensive, but if the cost of shipping is the #1 concern, take a look at the O.P.'s location the first thing after you open the post to read it, and decide right then and there if you even want to proceed. Adding a Canadian only pinned topic makes it easier for you and anyone else who only wants to trade within Canada, but I've got to be honest and say it sounds like an eBay advanced search where you can exclude things based on location, price, etc. Would a pinned topic in the Trade section for Canadian members only to post in be beneficial to all Canadian members (including those who don't mind shipping outside of Canada), all forum members, or just those Canadian members who only wish to trade within Canada? I've said this before, but since I fell it applies in this situation I'll say it again. I will always lean toward doing things which benefit the forum membership as a whole, or at least the majority of members, instead of things which benefit only a small group of members. In this situation, I don't see a pinned post in the Trade section for intra-Canadian traders only benefitting the forum as a whole, so I'm not in favor of the idea.
  21. To me, that is an easier and simpler solution. We purge posts which haven't received a reply within the last 30 days, so there are usually between 90 and 60 total posts total at most. I don't think there is enough volume to justify adding pinned posts for specific geographic areas at this time.
  22. How is a pinned topic for Canadian members only(?) going to help? Are you asking for a Canadian member specific post where only Canadian members can/should post their trades, so they don't have to pay for shipping outside of Canada? I'm not exactly clear on what exactly you want to see happen or stated in a pinned post in the Trade sections.
  23. We probably never will again, either. Those are unquestionably obscure.
  24. That happened to another member who PMed me about it. The "Compatability View" button on the IE browser was the solution for him, so I suggest you try that and see if it works.
