True, Revell did release a Buick GN DONK which is based on the 1/24 Monogram Buick GN kit, but it never had the landau top nor sunroof as shown on the green built up, nor the different Regal grille. Note also that the proposed Cutlass and Regal DONKs were to be 1/25 scale.

Very nice, Pat. -
Why not call them and ask if they will be there?

Question about editing my post?
Casey replied to pandamonium2112's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
That's correct. Use the "edit" button at the bottom of your post. Once you add a new reply to your post, it WILL be updated without needing to edit the title to be redundant. -
1/25 Revell '70 Plymouth HEMI 'Cuda 2'n1
Casey replied to MachinistMark's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
This is exactly my point, Rob. If you and I see different things in three images and don't agree on the details, how can Revell be expected to have one true, set in stone "standard" '70 Hemi Cuda upon which their kit is based? No such standard exists. We went through this whole debate regarding Moebius' Hudson Hornet, and they still got the fender skirts wrong when the kit was produced, and guess what? They still sold a ton of 'em. Same deal with this kit IMHO. It'll be a huge seller, and a staple in the Revell lineup for decades to come. For the 137 people or so who find the flaws so repugnant they refuse to purchase it, I respect and understand that, but Revell will survive and release future variants, satisfying their core customers pent up demand for a great '70 Hemi Cuda kit. -
1/25 Revell '70 Plymouth HEMI 'Cuda 2'n1
Casey replied to MachinistMark's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I am all for 100% accuracy, but I like to think I'm realistic enough to realize perfection is not going to happen. You show a group of twenty people pictures of a '70 Hemi Cuda then show them the test shots built up, and how many of those twenty are all going to agree the model looks a bit too tall, the wheel lips are to thick, and the lump in the twin-scoop hood is too prominent? Look at this black '70, and in particular, how the wheel arches/lips meet and blend into the flat part of the fender/quarter panel: Then compare the same areas on this EK5 Burnt Orange(?) '70: And this AAR: They're all different, so which is "correct"? There can't be a "this is how they all were and should be" consensus when the real cars were never all exactly the same. A stamping machine isn't going to stamp and exact copy of the same roof skin 20,000 times, so whoever is dong the pattern work for Revell has to use all the information and arrive at the best possible conclusion. -
So What does Revell Have up Their Sleeves?
Casey replied to tabsscale1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
For those of you non facebook users, Revell posted this teaser shot: -
They released three 1/16 Action Snaps kits which included Chevy cabs of that same era, but they were toy-like kits with utility beds, very different from what was proposed. Maybe they are what became of this idea.

He probably needs a 1/28 scale body to do Smokey's car.
-
It was never released as you said earlier. Here's the story, 'bout halfway down the page: http://www.bonediggers.com/2-1/wlazlo/wlazlo.html How about this Allis-Chalmers T-816? Did it ever make it through to production?:

Thanks for the correction. I relied too much on memory and a blurry picture for that one, so I edited my original post.

1/25 Revell '70 Plymouth HEMI 'Cuda 2'n1
Casey replied to MachinistMark's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Please, for the benefit of all mankind, let us never mention a Revell 1/24 '70 AAR 'Cuda again. I forgot to check the two built up models to see if the passenger's side view mirror was added and/or of the locating depression was present as on the driver's side. Hmmm, do they sell paint in 1/32 oz quantities? -
1/25 Revell '70 Plymouth HEMI 'Cuda 2'n1
Casey replied to MachinistMark's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The Monogram 1/24 '71 kits all have solid, chrome-plated tail and backup light lenses with horizontal rib detail. I don't recall what the 1/24 Revell AAR kits had, and to be honest, don't really care. Those kits should never see the light of day again, and hopefully Revell sees fit to backdate the interior tub to the correct Challenger T/A pattern. -
Which kits were shown in a catalog or another publication and/or were announced but never actually hit store shelves? Paul Gill mentioned the 1/16 MPC Chevy "Apache" Stepside 4x4 kit shown in the '76(?) MPC catalog: And MPC's 1/20 scale '56 Ford Pickup from the '78 catalog: And the Honda CRX Tuner Series kit from Revell's '04 catalog: And MPC's '78 Monte Carlo kit which was only released as a promo. Dean Milano had this one on eBay not long ago: The IMC Dodge LVT-1000: Others?

I thought the body was channeled, but now that I look at pics of the built up model and pics of the real car online, it doesn't appear to be channeled. I think the Revell Custom '49 included dropped spindles and lowering blocks for the rearend, but the stock Woodie body I looked at online had deep rockers and the frame rails were fully hidden, making it appear channeled.

1/25 Revell '90 Mustang LX 5.0 2'n1 Special Edition
Casey replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Out of curiosity, if one wanted to take an existing 1/25 Fox Mustang kit and mate it with the forthcoming Revell kit to make an LX hatchback, which would be the best kit to use? Can you even build an accurate(?) LX hatch without using one of the resin trans kits? I'm pretty sure the LX notch and hatch tail light assemblies are not the same, and I want to say the MPC '86 SVO's tail lights are the closest, but again, not sure how close they are to the LX hatch's. -

Best way to buy paint at Michael's or Hobby Lobby?
Casey replied to clovis's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Hobby Lobby has a 40% coupon every week, good Monday-Saturday. You can find in on their website. Michael's accepts every coupon known to man, no matter where it's from, short of one you wrote yourself on a yellow legal pad with a crayon. I go to www.mycraftcoupons and try to find a 50% off coupon if I'm headed to Michael's, but 40% off is the norm. -
You had better luck stripper the chrome plating and the bronze-ish undercoating off those Pyro brake drums than I did. Nice axle end stub detail.

This never had much to do with models, and I think Erik's question has been answered. He got what was bugging him about USPS off his chest, so let's close this and get back to discussing models, please.

1/25 Revell '70 Plymouth HEMI 'Cuda 2'n1
Casey replied to MachinistMark's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
It's hard to know what or if anything will be changed from what we see in these test shot built ups. They appear to be the same models shown at the Toledo NNL in October 2012, so we probably won't see anything definite until the kit arrives in November. -
