  1. I doubt it. The problem is old-fashioned trade shows can no longer compete with the internet, both from a cost and marketing standpoint. I bet Revell's facebook pages gets more views/visits in a single day than their booth would've gotten the entire weekend at iHobby.
  2. You will be able to swing it, Dave. Joseph's tires are worth it.
  3. And a new, earlier cab, as shown?
  4. Nothing at this point. They don't have a test shot ready to display, so they dressed up an existing model (1/43 scale First Gear in this case), airbrushed the image a bit, and used the box to display/show what the box art (and built model) will look like. Maybe Round2 will put out some info regarding the kit(s) soon, as their website is not even close to current.
  5. They don't make studded snow tires for scooters?
  6. I might agree if the box showed only sketches and artistic renderings, but does anyone who is considering buying the kit and looking at what's on the box NOT even look at the side panels? The odds of such a scenario are infinitesimally small. I bet all of us at one time or another have purchased a kit which was not quite what the box artwork advertised, and we're still building. Will it scare away a few potential modelers? Probably, but I don't think the number who would be turned off would be enough to cause any significant dent in our numbers. I'm sure a few would even take the opportunity to do some customizing and kitbashing, so those people may even things out in the end.
  7. And for most who are used to building 1/24 and 1/25 scale, that is the main hangup IMHO. Until desktop 3D printing resolution becomes so fine that any texture is imperceptible to the human eye, I don't think I'd be interested in owning one. What size are these 3D files? Just curious if that will be another obstacle for the average modeler looking to get into a 3D setup.
  8. I figure this is as good a place to put this as any. Just found this going though a random flickr album, and the title states it's a "1966-67 Chevrolet Series 80 dump truck":
  9. I saw J. Lloyd listed on a previous attendee list, but the latest list doesn't show them, so they probably didn't attend. Not good.
  10. Thanks for taking the pics, Tom. The timing of the '49 Mercury, '57 Fords, late '50s/early '60s SITM Vette, and '50 Olds diecast is a bit peculiar, or maybe it makes perfect sense. I'm a bit disappointed to see the '33 Willys won't be in an original style box, and the faux retro '69 Olds box art (I don't think AMT ever released that version) just looks weird to me. I don't see a built-up 1/16 Petty clear bodied Charger, either, so maybe that kit won't appear until late 2013 or 2014 now? Looks like the '40 Ford coupe is a no go, too.
  11. I see the Opel GT was shown again, so hopefully they finished cleaning up the tooling and it will appear in 2013:
  12. ..and in this pic, a backdated AMT Chevy LWB van, '56 Ford Crown Victoria, and the Sock It To Me early '60s Vette as "new" reissues:
  13. I see the '49 Mercury (which was mentioned as a reissue two years ago on Round2's blog), '57 Ford hardtop, '58(?) Plymouth "Christine", Hulk Monster Truck, and (real?) vintage amt box art for an MPC '69 Hurst/Olds kit in this pic:
  14. Welcome aboard, Larry.
  15. Here's a good look at a built up built by Lawrence/Scuderia: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=61649
  16. I wasn't sure if the Simon & Simon '83 Z /28 became the '85 or not, but here's that kit:
  17. I thought the "art" box was a great idea...until I bought one and realized the print wasn't all that and the box's thickness/depth did little to protect the body from getting crushed, despite the cardboard wall surrounding the body shell.
  18. True, but they could have made them all separate cab and bed pieces, like they did with the Crew Cab shown above. Just curious why they chose to keep them one-piece.
  19. It was in the 1/24 Monogram '56 Chevy at one point, too...I think the molded in turquoise issue? Not sure how well that triangular air cleaner (if that's the same one?) would translate to 1/25 scale, though.
  20. The pattern for Revell is to start with the most visible, popular, recognizable version of the particular model year in question, so they're starting with a '70 Hemi 'Cuda 4-speed with a Dana rearend. No shock there. Is an 8-3/4 rear going to appear in the future in a "lesser" version? I kind of doubt it, if the '69 and '68 Chargers and Darts are any indication of what we can expect. Yes, the Dart included an 8-3/4" rear from the get-go, but the '70 Hemi 'Cuda won't, so it would need to be a new part. Ditto for a bench seat, column shifter, Slant Six, plain "flat" hood, or any type of stock hubcap. I could see steel wheels, dog dish hubcaps, and a Go-Wing in a future modified reissue ('71 Hemi 'Cuda hardtop or convertible?), and I can easily see an AAR down the road, providing the much needed Mopar small block (and maybe a single carb'ed 340 as the second build option), but I don't see any '72-'74 variants being done by Revell.
  21. Why were they made with the cabs and beds as one piece, instead of separately?
  22. Are you using the kit-stock Goodyear Steel Belted Radial tires? If so, the rear steel wheels from the Revell '64 Ford T-bolt kits are a prefect fit, but you will need to add hub dust covers for the front two wheels:
  23. HPB? Stopped there today and found this book, and the wheels came from Count Chuckula:
