  1. They might as well. NBC has (or soon will have) an all-sports network, and I think ESPN has shown that an all-sports network works better than a network dedicated to one type of sport. The TV money for MLB and NFL games is ridiculous, so networks have to chase it to stay in front. Take a look at the recent local TV deals teams like the Anaheim Angels and L.A. Dodgers have signed.
  2. This is why I like Joseph's tires. The raised letters on the sidewall look more realistic when you paint the tire, then sand off the top face of the lettering to reveal the white underneath. Casting them in black would not achieve the same effect. Joseph, I think a set to fit 15x8 and 15x10 wheels would be perfect, as that's a common pairing for older cars/trucks with aftermarket wheels. A P295/50R15 size should be perfect.
  3. Lack of space (especially if sharing a small dorm room with a roommate) the mess, the inability to spray paint, well, pretty much everywhere...It's just not an environment which is great for some of the messier aspect of model building. When I was living in the dorms for the first few months of my first semester, I didn't build anything, but once I moved off campus at the beginning of December, I started again...and found rec.models.scale
  4. Try the clear, "Scotch" tape.
  5. R&R makes it: http://www.resinrealm.net/Star/RRGalleries/RR_All.html
  6. You know a kit is eagerly awaited when the topic covers thirteen pages before the kit even hit store shelves...and there are duplicate questions (aftermarket Olds engines) and matching duplicate replies (see post #54 ) in the same topic. Only a few more days...
  7. Didn't GM sell off the Hummer division a few years ago?
  8. I figured I'd mention it just in case you hadn't. You seemed pretty excited about this version.
  9. The tires never seem to fit tight to the wheels in my experience, and you don't get the "sandwich" effect with these newer style wheels and tires, like you do with the older style wheel "halves". I just think these new style wheels with the external ribs and the matching tires look a lot more toy-like than kit tires we've seen over the last 30 years or so. All of Revell's newer snap kits have this style of wheel and tire, too, it seems, so maybe this is a permanent change for all of their new kits? The tires in the Revell '68 Firebird and '69 Nova kits are the two examples I can think of-- they lack sidewall detail, and simply have no "life" nor character to them.
  10. Testors does not carry an enamel paint which should be used over white or metallics, so they are out. Maybe try a Krylon clear gloss?
  11. I wondered who bumped this topic, but good to see you working on it again, Tim. Is that a Sandpebble Beige-ish color? Very sleeper-like!
  12. Because it offers a glimpse into how the model companies, not just Revell, but also Lindberg, Round2, Moebius, and others "think", and why they can and can't do what we want them to do. The interview may have been with two Revell employees, but it also relates to other similar companies.
  13. I found it very informative, at least to help understand why many things we want aren't realistic for Revell to do/make. The "double the time and cost" for the 1/12 Shelby kit wasn't totally shocking, but it does explain why it was a surprise to most modelers that they even decided to go forward with the project...and why it'll probably be a while before we see another 1/12 scale kit from Revell.
  14. I believe the Revell '72 Olds Cutlass kit has the B-O-P (Buick-Olds-Pontiac) TH-400 (maybe -350) auto trans.
  15. It's hard to tell from the two large images I found if the Panamerica version is sans rear seat or not, but I think we can safely assume a modified reissue in NASCAR dress will be forthcoming, so the rear seat panel and rollbar will eventually be used. Maybe the Panamerica version used a roll bar, too? I didn't notice it before, but the wheels appear to be die-cast style, with halves which glue together before inserting them into the tires.
  16. Ah, what the heck, I'll pile on. New tooling for 2013: 1) 1/25 '68 Camaro Z/28 2'n'1 Special Edition, with Stock and Sunoco/Penske Trans Am building versions. 2) 1/25 '70 Plymouth 'Cuda/Barracuda 2'n'1 Special Edition, with both Hemi and 383-440 big block building versions. I'd keep it very similar to the '69 Charger Pro Modeler and '68 Charger Special Edition kits for the first release. 3) 1/25 '34 Ford 3-window coupe, full fendered or highboy building versions. 4) '68 Chevy/GMC Fleetline shortbox 2WD pickup 5) 1/25 '70 Chevelle 454/396 SS
  17. Why not go to their website, add what you want to your shopping cart, then see what shipping will cost?
  18. #1 and #3 (ditto for a new-tool '68 Camaro), most definitely.
  19. In all fairness, I think it was only two years ago when the Charger police car hit store shelves, but it was a long wait. As for Lindberg, I haven't seen any signs of life out of them since iHobby 2011.
  20. If GM refers to thier own El Caminos as trucks, who am I to say they are wrong? If it has a bed, either separate or integral with the body, I consider it a truck, but as long as people are willing to share what they've built with others, that's what really matters-- not where each of us thinks it should be posted.
  21. See anything new? Old: New:
  22. Display it? I am guessing most of the "tin-box" kits Round2 has released are aimed at both builders and collectors, since most of the collectors who purchase these kits will never open, but rather display them. Some of the tin boxes look really nice displayed with the built model, too.
  23. I wonder if it will be mid-engined and SOHC-powered?...at least we know it will be running mechanical fuel injection.
  24. And, IIRC, each member has the ability to have their own blog here, so they can add and say whatever they want about themselves. You haven't seen member SSNJim's yet?
