I know the Avanti was re-issued in 2000 as part of AMT's "Milleneum" series, and the '53 Starliner has been re-issued many times, so I wouldn't worry about that one. Even Revell's "Miss Deal" Gasser '53 Stude was re-issued as part of the SSP program.

Agreed. Even Monogram's Beer Wagon was changed to the RC Cola wagon, which is still more reason to be amazed the Rommel's Rod was re-done.

I was thinking about a few kits we'll likely (notice how I covered my GM there?) never see re-issued, and wondered which other kits people think will never again be re-issued, and why they feel that way. I was specifically thinking about how cool the Revell Goodyear blimp kit was when I was eight, and how one day I would have one and put my own messages on the display. Alas, if we can't get tires with "GOODYEAR" on them, a kit of a blimp with "GOODYEAR" plastered on both sides has no chance. In all honesty, I would've also listed the Monogram's "Rommel's Rod" a few years ago, but R-M sure proved me wrong. Now, I'm not thinking about kits which were updated (say, if the MPC '68 Coronet R/T tooling was modified into a '69 Coronet) or modified (like Monogram's Tom Daniel-designed "Dog Catcher" which was modified into the "Sand Shark"), but rather kits which for some good reason (in your opinion) will simply never be re-issued.

I guess you've never owned or cruised on a land yacht, have you? I don't think the styling is all that drool-worthy, but late '60s Chrysler C-bodies make great cruisers. They're still reasonably priced, parts are not too hard to find, and they're super easy to work on. Did I mention how smoothly one of these heavy cars cruises on the highway?

If you disassemble a small electronic device (radio, DVD player, etc.), you'll find a few shapes and pieces inside that work well for replicating items in scale. I used a rectangular something I removed from inside an old radio to make a 1/16 scale battery and the size was perfect in all three dimensions.

Even though HEMIs aren't as exotic as they once were, they still have a mystique about them, and if a HEMI is good, A DOHC HEMI is better, no? I've always liked to Ford SOHC engine, too, which is still very unique looking to my eyes. I think any engine with a timing chain as long as the SOHC's has got to be in the discussion.

What a bunch of grumpy old farts we have here. A chat room is what you make it, and you're right, it does depend upon who's in and what they're discussing when you enter, but you can always change the subject. I prefer to talk about models, too, but sometimes you just have to jump in and join the conversation. The chat room really isn't that different than the forum, but it is a much faster pace, which some don't like...but some do. To each their own, but it's still a great resource for those who know and/or want to take advantage of it.

That's a great point, Ken, but how many potential buyers who now recognize a Hudson bodystyle are going to plunk down $29.95 for a kit they have to assemble AND paint? Sadly, very few I bet. At any rate, I'm not trying to rain on the parade here, but I see a lot of similarities to these kits and the Glaxie Limited '46-'48 Chevy kits, but that been discussed to death in another thread. And Art, in case you haven't noticed, we like rumors, gossip, and hearsay, so bring it on!

Nice. Next re-issue would have to be a Greased Lightning replica, complete with Danny Zuko and Kenickie figures. I'm sure a new body insert was tooled up for the chopped top version, allowing for future coupe and more ceonvertable re-issues.

You might try painting the entire wheel the aluminum color you want the outer lip to be in lacquer or a very hot modeified enamel, and after that's cured, paint the gunmetal color with an enamel paint. While the enaml is still wet, use a cloth dampened wit mineral spirits to remove the gunmetal paint from the lip. Mounting each wheel to a toothpick or some other round rod would help you spin it as you wipe.
