After a careful cutting job the revell shock towers / engine bay fit the AMT body like a glove. The chassis and interior also fit good as well . It looks like we have a nice kit bash option for a 1970 mustang in 1/25 scale

I cut the shock towers/ engine bay out of a donor revell 69 mustang and with a little filing it fits the amt body like a glove. -

THE FORD DRAG TEAM 1970 PRO STOCK MUSTANGS

I’ve been chipping away at the terry pro stock mustang. I did some work on the interior tub , I cut out the hood for the carburetor clearance and attached the scoop . I finished filling off the rocker trim along with the mustang emblems . Then sanded the body down to 1500 grit until I feel like it’s ready for paint. I prefer to spray the Tamyia white over bare white plastic with a few thin coats. -
Cool build great imagination. That’s a great mix of inexpensive kits , 60’s vibe decals

It’s the optional one that came with the monogram boss 429 mustang . I think I had a newer street machine option kit -

I’m gathering parts, decals and ideas I’ve also started working on the body by filing off the MACH 1 rocker trim . I’ll definitely be using the chassis and interior from the revell kit, cammer from the MACH WON with the pro stock engine parts from the 71 mustang along with the big hood scoop filled down to a sane size . Decals are available from slixx , Platt car , and Jim Heller ,Terry car . The paint will be from Tamyia

Yea I’m right with you Hubert’s metallic blue cars with the white accents and white lettering are striking

I’ve been really enjoying building mustangs and torinos lately. This one was on the todo list for quite some time as I really like building the early let’s call them the four speed years pro stock cars. Let’s get down to this build. It’s a kit bash car starting with the revell 69 cobra jet mixed with parts from the monogram 70 boss 429 mustang along with a few trips to the parts box . crager ss wheels back - amt 66 Galaxie , front - polar lights funny car ladder bars- old pro nova slicks and front tires- AMT parts pack dash mount gauges- polar lights funny car engine - monogram mustang shifter- monogram mustang front air vents next to the grill- monogram mustang grill - cut down from the monogram mustang decals - smp & parts box paint - testors enamel headers - solder and aluminum tubing roll bar - 0.80 plastic rod hood scoop - comp resin I cut some square tubing to raise up the rear spring perches. If I was to build this again I would definitely use the body from AMT’s MACH ONE kit .until next time thanks for looking, Mike

“BUILDING THE COVERS “ Vol # 94 BARRY SETZERS Pro Stock Camaro
M W Elky replied to M W Elky's topic in Drag Racing
Sean I have 426 built drag cars on the shelves with lots more on the way -
This started out with the orange AMT full bumper 1970 Camaro kit with the following parts and alternations wheels from the AMT Double dragster slicks from the old pro nova hood scoop was cut from a grumpy’s toy Vega and grafted on to the Camaro hood slixx decals testors lacquer Tunnel ram from grumpy’s toy vega roll bar made form 0.80 rod headers made from solder and aluminum tubing. these Camaro kits easily turn into a rather convincing pro stock, and are really easy to do . Until next time thanks for looking, Mike

This is really neat great work on sectioning the top . Will you be using a cammer ?
-
I completely agree with you Hobby Lobby doesn’t rotate their kit selection nearly as often as they used to. Don’t they realize there’s only so many Camaros and mustangs we can build. They used to have a pretty good rotation every 6 months.

Thanks for the info Tim I think I will use the two trailers I already have and try to scratch build the fenders to match the reference photos as that’ll help me keep within budget. .Although I have built over 400 drag cars I have never completed a big truck so this will be a good challenge for me. The only other big rig I had was the Moving On Kenworth that I bought when I was 7 years old I never finished it as it was way out of my 7 year old snap together skill set at the time .

I made the roll bar from 0.80 rod and finished up the interior I used the kit supplied roll bar to set the height
-
Thanks Tim that would be great if you could tell me what issues they were . I don’t know how I would have missed it. Also do you remember what trailer you used . I have the trailers from the mpc caprice kit that I was going to use. Thanks mike

I used tamyia metallic blue it’s definitely the best match I could find in a rattle can.
