  1. This is award winning stuff, especially that engine compartment! Incredible
  2. Just exquisite Louis, especially that engine! Thank you for sharing
  3. Both look totally sweet!
  4. Looking forward to this one being finished in the future.
  5. Man, that is coming out awesome! And thank you for the primer on your drivetrain and suspension. Great stuff.
  6. Thank you Christopher. And I agree with you about the fun in building these little guys, and the wonderful decal sheets.
  7. Great to know Randy, thank you for the information.
  8. Just gorgeous Mario - - - both the build and the photos!
  9. So well done Philippe! I noticed the partially open windows gave it a more realistic look too. I may have to try that sometime on one of my builds.
  10. Lovely color choices, great chrome work, and excellent under-hood detail. Well done!
  11. Me neither. And depending on the model, they are quite reasonable (the Custom Shop Nomad is probably one of the more expensive at over $100, but a Phantom Vickie is easily found under $25).
  12. Just a stunning build, made all the more so by your inclusion of the 1:1 photo. You nailed it perfectly!
  13. Thanks Bill
  14. Thank you much Bob.
  15. Thank you kindly David.
  16. Thank you Garry. Fun build!
  17. As is my usual custom, while working on a more major project, I decided to throw something together just for fun and to keep me busy. Not too long ago, I had seen the AMT 1932 Ford "Vicky" done up in Hot Wheels decals and thought it might be a nice project. Looking around online though, I was distracted by an earlier version of this car done by AMT (then called a 1932 "Vickie") and sold as a Custom Shop "predecorated" model. Pictures generally suggested the body had been painted and would be sort of a quick builder. I picked one up for about $25 and threw it aside for a rainy day. When I recently opened it up, all I could say was "WOW"! Not only was the body and interior painted, but each and every detailed part was precut, painted, individually wrapped, and sequentially numbered to match its excellent instruction manual. I came to realize this was a fully detailed kit with wonderful parts - not only for a stock build, but for any sort of kit-bashing. The only thing dated about it IMHO was the 4.6L Cobra V8 which is straight out of the 90's, but suited me just fine for this build. The frame, suspension, and rest of the drivetrain though are timeless beauties. What you see below is a stock build. Aside from a little touch up with a Molotow pen and some Testors Panel Line on the engine, what you see is what came out of the box. Oh, I did add a bit of "Tail Art" (mounted too far back to be called "Nose Art" ), and of course her name is "Vickie". The only truly custom touch came to me when I was unboxing and noticed the packaging which perfectly fit the body and hood... Little bit of cutting, fitting, "stitching" with a rivet tool, and painting later - voila! A great tonneau cover. I am already sourcing a few more of this kit just for future kit-bashing, and have already ordered an AMT Pro Shop 1939 Wagon Rod. It will be a great build for the winter when I cannot get outside to paint, but still want to enjoy modeling. There are actually a whole bunch of great models in the Pro Shop series, and I may get a few more...including a 1957 Chevy such as built by @Hi-Po
  18. OMG Dann, your level of detail is off the hook. I don't think I've ever seen seat adjustment levers on a model before, and I can literally smell the leather already!
  19. Go with gloss stripes. You will be the only one to notice!
  20. Scott, what an awesome build for such a young person. But the story behind it is the really fantastic part. You, family, friends, neighbors - so many nice people pitching in. I love it!
  21. Mostly these engines look good, but it sure would have been nice in the case of the Big Daddy Roth Mailbox trike to have had the correct Crosley engine.
  22. p.s. There were a couple of folks asking why my Cobra Chopper looked different. I took a few liberties with this model and it is now only one cobra, rather than the two on the box art. You can see the transformation and up-close photos on my post for this kit.
  23. Well done Terry! I just started on the Pro Shop Phantom Vickie on a lark, and was so surprised to find what fantastic models these are! I ordered the '39 Woody wagon, and may have to get the '57 Chevy as well
  24. Praying for Steve as we speak.
