  1. Mario, I love Comets and this one turned out fantastic! The color and details are great and I like the poverty hubcaps.
  2. Really nice looking custom, Paul. I love that front end!
  3. Thanks for your kind comment. Thank you I appreciate your comment
  4. I finished this one about a week ago. I'm not totally happy with how it turned out but at least I didn't have to build my NOS one (see photo). The body required a lot of sanding and the trim on these wasn't too crisp or smooth even on a new unbuilt one. I touched up the chrome with Molotow ink and used Bare Metal Foil on the trim. This model fought me hard on the foiling with the trim not being too crisp, and especially on adding all the black accents. The AMT 62 Imperials, by the way, are a pleasure to foil and add the accents to. The paint on this one is Dark Bronze Metallic and the interior is burgundy and white. I kept the original whitewall decals on the tires, doing a little touchup. I really like 4 door cars and have many, built and unbuilt. Thanks for taking your time to look and I appreciate all comments and questions. I've really been blown away by all the kind comments I've received on the models I've posted before. I just started foiling my 60 Edsel yesterday so it will be coming along before too long. --Rich
  5. Chuck, I just saw this today. It looks so real in your photos and not absurd at all. It really looks like something someone might have pieced together back in the day using what they had available. The detailing is great. I build mostly factory stock but would be proud to have this model on my shelf.
  6. Chang thanks very much, I appreciate your comments.
  7. Thank you Carl and David. Your comments are appreciated.
  8. Very nice work! It looks just like a car you would have seen at the grocery store back in the day-until you open the hood and look closer. I really like it.
  9. John, I appreciate your advice but as I mentioned in the description, I did widen the track. Compared to your photo, mine looks just about the same as yours. Most, if not all of the early Johan kits needed the track widened. I also added wheel wells to the chassis on the 59's and 60's that I've built. Your 62 looks great. Here's a photo of the 59 I have in progress. I already widened the track. It's painted the correct Golden Mist Metallic. -Rich
  10. Thanks Antonio. Thank you Ricky.
  11. Craig, thanks for the photos. You are right about the Slim Jim trannys but mine has had no problems yet. But I did have to get a rebuilt one for the 63 I had as a teenager.
  12. Rusty, there's a seller on Ebay who makes a copy of the Johan 61. It's a complete kit and he does great work but it's not cheap. Neiither are the rebuilders that come up once in a while but there are deals if you keep watching. I have a picture of the original owner standing by my 63 when it was pretty new. I bought it-the car- from her daughter in law about 20 years ago. The owner had the bobble head dog in the rear window from the time it was new so I've kept it there in her memory. Normally I wouldn't have stuff like that. It came with the poverty hubcaps and I left them because my dad's 63 wagon had them and they bring back great memories. My 63 Super 88 had the Starfire 394 4 barrel engine and the Starfire spinner hubcaps. I'll post my 63 Dynamic 88 wagon sometime (resin). My Dynamic 88 has the optional (at no extra cost) low compression 394 2 barrel. The standard engine was the 394 high compression 2 barrel. When I first got it I kept being told it was the wrong color (it is not) so I did some research. I had never heard of it before but I'm glad it has it as it runs fine on regular gas. I'm guessing it's kind of rare because I've never seen another with that engine in it. -Rich
  13. Rusty, thanks for the photos. It really looks pretty complete (minus engine) without too much rust. It should be a good project. I've always wanted to a project like that but never had the space. GM had some great dashes back in the day and you can't beat those Olds steering wheels! My favorite dashes are the 61 Pontiac and 63 Olds. The 63 Olds dash looks very similar in design to the rear bumper on the 60 Olds. With factory air (my first one had it) the left and right dash outlets even look like the backup lights on the 60. Here's a couple more of my present 63 and one showing the interior of my blue 61 Olds. Johan did a pretty good job on it. -Rich
  14. Thanks Bob, I appreciate it.
  15. Hi Rusty, I really like the 61-63 Oldsmobiles. Here's a photo of one of my built 61's before detailing the hubcaps. I posted a blue one a few months ago. And here's a shot of my unrestored (besides paint) 1:1 63 Dynamic 88 Holiday Hardtop. I'd love to see your 61.
  16. Thanks Ray Appreciate it Gerald. Glad you like it Glen Mario, thank you.
  17. Great looking Thunderbird, Steve. The red with white top and interior, along with the wire wheels, just looks fantastic!
  18. Very nice looking Lincoln, Ryan. I love these old boats, had a couple back in the day (a bit newer, a 73 and a 77).
  19. Geno, it looks great. You are quite right that just changing a few things and adding a few details can make a big difference. If you can add white letters to the tires, that will really change the whole look! I hope you find some. -Rich
  20. Thanks Carl Thanks David
  21. I'm not afraid use the NOS kits when I need to.
