  1. These two suggestions kinda fit into a similar vein, in that I used to belong to a "board" that focused on pre 1970 builds, as far as speed equipment, etc. I know that my own personal interest is niche but I think there is an interest in traditional, correct builds be they hot rods, drag cars or SCTA style flats cars.
  2. Rat always reminds me of the misquoted line associated with James Cagney and you thought I was going to use "Cagney" to end my sentence, didn't you?
  3. In the 80s I used to collect albums but to listen to the music. More than once I bought an album, cut the plastic wrap and handed it to the store employee at a used record store to put on... to the dismay of other collectors. So... obviously I'd open it. I ALSO would bag up the parts inside to protect them and my lil squirrel mind would be working on building or swapping parts before anything else happened.
  4. Just found this. Impressed, I definitely appreciate the research...
  5. Spoke too soon. Switch issues, down over 30 minutes... oh well.
  6. Nope, will need to check it out. Unfortunately, I'm "only" light rail and if I recorded while operating I'd be fired... but the wild stuff going on, especially operating on the street ( yes, we're the only light rail in the US that has area similar to streetcar, unprotected) would be something else.
  7. So far the day has been boring at work, no drama like yesterday but the day is young...
  8. Magazines are something I truly miss, as well as actual newspapers, there's just something to the tactile experience.
  9. Fight between one gorilla versus one hundred men shows how dumb internet memes have become these days.
  10. Coats of acrylic paint will more than likely ruin your collection of squirrel pelts.
  11. Organized, what do you mean I'm not Organize... Squirrel!
  12. Now, I can't post what I was going to because I don't want to be banned but what's up with the District of Columbia, just asking?
  13. Worm-food or food, I wasn't certain if we were counting hyphenated words as one or two words?
  14. I didn't mean to hijack this thread. I know that building a historically correct "gasser" didn't mean the same as current "gasser style" which seems to be closer related to the earlier "street freak" style than early gassers. I am excited about the possibility of this without ANT's molded in exhaust and the possibility of the scribed rear wheel wells to help things along. It has a lot of potential and I'm glad to see it returning.
  15. I did, then removed the wrong firewall and used one from a 29 Ford (Revell pickup?) That a member sent me.
  16. Thanks for the link. I'm pretty stoked to see this back. Oddly, in what research I've done reading Larry Davis' and Don Montgomery's books on gassers the 409 wasn't a common swap for gassers in the 60s. I am excited to see the cal custom scoop back. So, straight axle, wheel well headers and a bit of finaggling you'll get a period gasser...
  17. After seeing posts about ads, I'm happy with mine...
  18. 2 years later I got back to this build and got the correct firewall.
  19. This is beautiful.
  20. I don't know much about the Revell version of the 55 Chevy, I believe the exhaust is separate from the chassis as opposed to the AMT version? Which would be nice. I also think it's cool that it includes the proper scoop for earlier gasser versions finally. Though I find it interesting that a straight axle doesn't seem to be available. I also find it interesting in the display model that the side trim is not aligned between the door and body.
  21. For some reason I read this as "excluded family" and not "extended family", go figure?
  22. I went through this with my pug last November, my prayers go out to you. I hope your resolution is better than mine was.
