  1. So... we're down several days more of "labor cost" but very little physically accomplished. My wife got frustrated and posted if anyone could suggest anyone able to do sheetrock, painting and floors. She received over twenty people responding who are looking for work, licensed and bonded with personal references. I told her to see what this guy accomplishes in the next two days, if it's not an improvement (we've spoken to him multiple times over the last three weeks), I told her to choose 3 or 4 to come place bids before this "handyman" bleeds us dry. This is why I... well, I'm much calmer than I used to be.
  2. Finally found a photo of a scoop I want to find. Wondering which kit it's available in? Thank you Charles
  3. Always hope for possums. When we had possums living in our back yard, we never saw a rat. Unfortunately, they haven't been here for a few years. Will need to look for that trap. We don't like using poisons either.
  4. All of you just stay away from my outta control beard, just cuz I decided to grow it out again. I wanted it hitting my chest!
  5. Iain M. Banks is great, it's been a long time. Also, John Crowley is good with his Aegypt series.
  6. I love this quote... not sure if he meant the dirt or Alice In Chains?
  7. Eggroll or egg roll is okay, but I prefer the Thai Salad Rolls because I like the peanut sauce that goes with them; saying all that was just an excuse to show you a sign on the wall of my favorite Thai restaurant.
  8. I saw a drip irrigation system that I built for my wife's raised garden bed. Not a big deal but even though it was never on my bucket list, I can now take it off of it.
  9. Rambler Station Wagon, before my time. Lincoln that my dad had for only a short time. Even new, he thought the gas mileage was insane and quickly got rid of it. 64.5 Mustang, my mom said it was the first sold in Portland, I remember the story being it was the second. Anyway, my dad was friends with the dealer and got it early. I came home in that car. When my dad died in 1980, he had spent the previous year looking for one again. He regretted selling it in 1969. He said then it was just another used car. In 1979 when he was looking, he'd say they want HOW MUCH? F or 65-66 Mustangs that were pretty rough.
  10. Well done, I can hear the billet from here... throw on some ZZ Top or some Tom Petty and it all comes rushing back.
  11. That would have been appreciated, this has turned into a nightmare. Both cost and the time involved. We're reconsidering having him finishing the project which besides the finish work on the walls and ceilings include interior painting and installing the flooring we purchased. My wife has two exes who are contractors and she's going insane.
  12. Our soil is clay-like, I have a drill bit intended for bulbs which will connect to my driver...
  13. Hasn't arrived yet but I ordered 205 bulbs which will arrive from the Netherlands in the fall. I guess cuz I had a need to dig a lot of little holes all around the perimeter of my lot? It started because my wife wanted two types of flowers next year...lol.
  14. I'm certain it's been mentioned... Follow the money, or as it was known in the Roman Era, Cui bono? "to whom is it a benefit?".
  15. The orange cat is Marmalade or Mr. Fat Pants, not only does he steal the other cat's food, he goes after the dog's treats as well. He's quite, er, "fluffy". The other cat is Tiger Lilly, or Feral Kitty... she is curious and wants to be involved but has trust issues. She will stay just out of reach and doesn't let you pet her often and God help you if you try to pick her up...
  16. So... I get up around 2am to go to work, then work 10.5 hours. Today, I'm volunteering to help the guy hang the sheetrock on the ceiling so it gets done. This is what I'm paying for??? To work a full day and then help hang sheetrock on the ceiling while paying someone else to do it? FML
  17. Similar weather here, kinda what the hell? Though I have tomorrow off, so I'm grateful it'll be cool before 90s since I'm putting in a drip irrigation system for my wife's garden.
  18. Why I'm slow getting back to this... it WILL get done!
  19. We started some remodeling work at our house. It started simple, and got more complicated. Got into the wiring, which we paid 6k for an electrician to put in a new panel. The "handyman" who's supposed to pull 4 cadet heaters, he's pulled two but hasn't patched the sheetrock. Removed the fireplace and a wall, is still farting around with interior wiring. The electrician told him to staple the wiring, replace 2 plugs... he's been messing with the wiring for almost a month. He hasn't finished the framing or the sheetrock. He still has painting and the floor to do. He's been here over 2 months and I swear on all that is holy, he's just doing the same thing over and over and not finishing. All I want is my #@#!!! Ceiling and walls... I'm not made of money, no fortunate son here!
  20. Around Portland too. They are all ready for boondocking/overlanding with all of the extras but they're never offered the roads. My son has spent money on the accessories and lift, etc. but it's all for the purpose of going off road. Before he owned a tuner wrx but I think this is better. It gets him out in nature. He loves being out in the forest away from everything now.
  21. In it's natural habitat again. Doesn't that darn boy know it's supposed to be parking lots???
  22. Just a bump of an excellent build. Bernard's work has definitely been an inspiration. I hope to see him return.
  23. 60s Hot Rod color? Root beer brown.
  24. Oh! Thanks to Bill for the correct firewall and the correct mechanical information. This is definitely possible because of his willingness to educate me.
