Pete 359 tanker with trailer
Jürgen M. replied to Jürgen M.'s topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Thanks guys! Yes, there will be a trailer! I think I posted a little video of the 3D design! Have to build my show case first though, otherwise there's no space for a trailer! The truck won't take additional space cause it was there before and was just "improved"! -

Outstanding build! Hard to believe it's a snap kit! Keep going! Put the next one on the bench! We need someone to fill in with 1/32 kits while Steve takes a break! 😉 -

I changed the strategy of how I'd get the wheels onto the new axle! I took the chromed outside part of the rims off, mounted them on selfmade rim drums which are wider and used the self designed brake drums I use for practically all selfmade trucks. This way I can use the same tires as on the rear wheels! The brake drums are similar to the classic AMT ones. I just changed them a bit and put spacers on so the track width fits the truck. And the hubs are now blue like in the rear! Also I redecided on the bumper issue. I'll keep the original one because the results of the printed bumper weren't satisfactory! Since the bumper is only stuck on with the two pins I can still replace it anytime! In the mean time the new plate and the hazard sign are in place! -

Good morning! I actually decided to Exchange the front axle and put in a steerable one! Had a complete one in my parts box! I know it's a bit late at this stage but not impossible! I cut off the axle shafts of the old one and designed fitting break drums. They're in print at the moment! -

Mud flaps made of printing rafts! I know, it's got mud flaps hanging on the fenders but I thought it would look nice! The tank end doesn't really look too good when you look at it up close but there will be a decal on it which will cover that up a bit. -

Thanks Jeff! Yes, I took off the original headlights and used lights out of my parts box. I had already done that as I built it. Glad you like it! Tool box and bumper will hopefully be chromed tomorrow or saturday. -

Some more progress! Tank is glued on, so is the "skywalk" (I like to call it that), the pump hoses are mounted, stacks, ladder, ...! Stuck the old bumper on again just for the pics! Still a lot to do though! Rear left tool box, new bumper and some small stuff like marker lights, ...! -

This is the idea of the new bumper! It'll be attached by those two 2mm rods and two shakles on each. Of course the bumper still needs some work. Sanding, primer, chrome! Hope the surface turns out like the one on the 352 bumper. I'm quite satisfied with that. -

I decided to make a new front bumper so I removed the old one. It wasn't glued on so no problem! The new one is being printed this minute! If it doesn't turn out as I expect I can always use the old one again. I added the tool box. Looks quite nice with the chromed doors! Not a perfect surface but doesn't matter! It's an old and used truck so chromed surfaces are worn too! I made too smaller tool boxes and glued one on already. The second one for the other side has to be chromed again. Big fingerprint! 🙈 These are so called brims or rafts from printing. When they come out so even I like to use them as mud flaps or, like I did for the 352 Pete, as inlays for the grille! -

Wow! Hope you'll find a way to get the shrunken plow back to real size so you can use it this winter! Noone would notice it's a model if you would be able to enlarge it to original 1:1 size! Can't describe my fascination about this build any other way! -

Sunvisor fits! The rear chromed wheels look nice too. Rest of the chromed parts still have to cure a while! Don't want to risk fingerprints or anything. -

Also made a sunvisor! First I drew it on a cardboard and then transferred it on a piece of 0.5mm styrene sheet and bent it to fit the cab. Before mounting it'll be painted. -

Nice build! Does that truck belong to the class 8 category? Just asking cause of the 40' reefer! Looks so huge compared to the tractor! -

Chrome Looks nice! The tank didn't get as smooth as I expected although I put some clear coat on. I'll have to wait till it's cured. Maybe it'll smoothen a little more. Rims are satisfactory I'd say, so are the pipes and the tool boxes! Sleeper is glued into place and I found some hand rails in my parts box. Put the long one on the "safe side"!
