  1. Thanks Steve, I Hope so! The chrome will show every little dust grain.
  2. Sorry, it didn't show so I thought it didn't work. Now it's doubled! 🙈
  3. I've seen others having changed the name of their threads but I haven't found Out how to do that! Is it an admin issue or can I do it myself?
  4. Got the second layer of base coat on after carefully sanding the first one. I was a sissy and actually begann with a 3.000 grain. Thank God for that! Even with hardly any pressure and wet standing the first layer became almost transparent. The grey primer showed through immediately. I polished it a bit by hand with a wound compress and polishing cream for soft clear coats. Then I put another coat of blue on. It's still not exactly a mirror but it looks better! I'm thinking of putting a clear coat on before spraying the chrome! At least a clear coat can be polished better than a 1-component gloss base coat.
  5. Thanks Steve! Usually, as far as I know, the spares today, if existent, are mounted underneath the chassis. On older American trucks I have actually never noticed a spare except maybe on a wrecker or some other special vehicle. I just thought a tanker shouldn't be standing on the road side too long without a spare! 😊
  6. Today I hope to sand the tank. Got 2.500 grain sand paper. Even 3.000 but that might be like using regular paper. I'll see if there's progress with the 2.500 and maybe I'll go down to 1.200. I know, normally you go the other way but sanding and polishing a surface to be chromed should be approached carefully! Considering it's a quite old truck I was thinking of putting one or the other scratch and dent into the tank before applying the chrome!
  7. The fenders are attached to the chassis. I think I mentioned that they're from a Volvo F12 Globetrotter (Italeri) which I disassembled a few months ago. The outside wheels will be chromed therefore it'll be a single track for while! The a/c box on the roof is not glued yet. Didn't have a grille for that so I had to design and print one which is in the paint shop at the time!
  8. I repeat myself, I know, but it's like watching a real truck being built in a factory! Looking at the details of that engine, chassis, even the wheel bolts I can't come to another conclusion than seeing a shrunk factory on your bench. Magnificent!
  9. I can only agree with Jeff! Fine looking build. I've never seen a short hood Bison before. Can't wait to see how it looks when it's finished! Very interesting!
  10. Wow! What a collection! Very impressive Steve!
  11. This is really nice Steve! Can't wait to see it finished! How many 1/32s do you have meanwhile?
  12. Thanks Jeff! Didn't have the feeling that I made that much progress! Glad you like the spare holder! I came up with that idea a while ago when I saw a similar thing on an old Volvo truck. Thought it might be a nice feature on a build someday. Didn't think it would happen so soon though!
  13. Keep going Jeff! Looks just fab! 👍
  14. Thanks! I Hope so! I liked the contrast of blue and chrome in the truck so I thought it would good on a tanker! Got everything prepared for painting.
  15. Cool! Looks really nice! Thanks!
  16. Got the parts sanded and primered and sanded and primered and ... ! Of course there was also putty involved to close the gab between the tank body and the covers. In the picture it probably doesn't look much different than in the last pics but it is! The rear hubs are painted and the fuel tanks remounted. Next step will be the first coat of gloss blue. That has to cure a few days in order to get hard enough to sand it with 2.500 grain sand paper. Wet of course. Then the second layer of blue hopefully without rework!
  17. 😂 Might be worth a try! My desk is big enough to build models but I don't like to look at the clock all the time. I'd rather build at home but thanks for the idea! If my work gets too boring I'll give it another thought!
  18. Looks convincing to me Jeff! With the dort in the tire thread and the spilled fuel and road dort in the fuel tanks it's very realistic!
  19. That is one cool build! Today during lunch break I was thinking about future builds! A four axle variation was part of the vision! Just have to decide which truck it's gonna be! Got a few ideas! 😉
  20. Thanks everyone! Glad you dropped by!
  21. Cool build! 👍
  22. Nice truck! Like the long chassis! Got a trailer planned?
