  1. I can only agree on that! The 4070A was the kit with the best fit. Everything was straight and the parts were good quality. Even the surface and the thickness of the parts were just great. And you're right. The challenges you learn from are the AMT kits. Still it was really fun to build the Ertl kits! Really nice job in the tilting issue Jeff! Knew you could do it!
  2. All this detail makes me dizzy! It's so fascinating. I just take a thin brush to make the stripes on the tubing. Of course it never looks as good as this stuff. Maybe I'll try that. Up to now I've always worked on a minimalistic level concerning details. Seems it's time to change that. At least a bit!
  3. Decals look great and the red on top of the grille is nice! Makes the picture complete! Nice job!
  4. I will make a trailer to it but first I definitely have to build the show case. Otherwise there won't be rooms for a trailer! 😊
  5. Thanks! Hope it turns out good! Hiding the printing lines is the biggest challenge! We'll see how the chrome looks!
  6. Thanks for the information! Always interesting to learn these things!
  7. Thought so! Looked familiar! I still have that one in my parts box! The cabs are also the same in the White Western Star, Autocar A64B and Road Boss! Probably in a few other kits too! I built the Brockway (Convoy) from the AMT Autocar Kit and the Diamond T (also Convoy) from the AMT Coca Cola Western Star kit. Absolutely same cab!
  8. Don't give up Jeff! You're doing great. I know the issue as well. Even when I design everything myself, somewhere along the way you lose sight over each and every spot which might be relevant for functionality later. The first printed cabover that worked out pretty well was the 352 day cab. But I have to admit I had to replace the shifter three times till I found the right spot. One advantage of opening doors, you can approach from two ends! Anyway, I can understand your grief over cabovers concerning modelling! It's gonna be a great build! Keep calm and go on! 👍
  9. Thanks! I very much appreciate your opinion. Never thought it would be that methodical. Wow! I wish I had more time for the bench but I've got to earn my paycheck and that takes 40hrs per week plus driving time. So often I'm actually too tired to do anything after work and I don't want to ruin anything because of inattention. I planned to apply the chrome today but I haven't even put on the clear coat. Maybe I'll accomplish at least that today!
  10. Another mock-up: Next steps are clear coat on the tank, then masking of the tank end covers, painting the ladder, chrome on the tank and wheels, corrections on the sleeper, ...!
  11. Looks nice! Very special build! Is that the sleeper of the AMT White Western Star? Or is that in other kits too?
  12. The sleeper still need some attention. I´ll do that tomorrow as well as the clear coat.
  13. A little bit of progress! The sleeper is ready for mounting and decals! The white stripe has to be continued. I'll put a clear coat on the tank before applying chrome. I hope it'll help smoothen the surface.
  14. Thanks for the info! Always interesting to learn!
  15. I can imagine! I drove a Mercedes 7.5 ton truck with a trailer once and had a flat at night, it was pouring and of course it was the rear inside tire on the drivers side! The spare was completely rusted tight to the frame and cars and trucks speeding away behind my back!
  16. 🙈 Can't tell em apart anyway on first sight. Nice General! It's a fascinating truck with a rough character! Was there really absolutely no difference between the Bison and the General except for the badges? Don't know such details!
  17. Thanks Steve! Again I learned more about trucks and improved my English vocabulary! 😊 Yes, a fifth wheel tractor would be a "saddle dragger" if translated directly. The fifth wheel is referred to as a "saddle hitch"!
  18. Wow, what great collection! You can be proud of it!
  19. This truck type not being commercially sold as a kit makes your build absolutely unique and special. Therefore not boring at all on the shelf and in this forum! Thanks for sharing!
  20. As you can see I had the thread title changed. I thought it's time to adjust the title to the main theme of my build! Thanks to Stitchdup for his help!
  21. No hurry! Thanks very much!
  22. Doesn't work. The edit button is missing. It's not so important. I wanted to change the thread Name from "Pete Conventional un-campered" to Pete 359 tanker with trailer "! Didn't want you to go into any effort!
  23. OK, thanks for your quick help. I'll give it a try!
  24. By the way, since I'm building this truck with a hitched up trailer I have a question: Are there different names/terms for these two types of rigs? In German there are specific names for each type of truck and trailer. Ones with a fifth wheel, ones with a hitch and the matching trailers! I'm just curious if it's the same in English!
